This shoe is a Factory 2nd. Allen Edmonds shoes are handcrafted and Factory 2nds are slight cosmetic blemishes such as scratches, nicks, leather imperfections or wrinkles that prevent these shoes from being sold at 1st quality pricing. The cosmetic imperfections do not affect the performance, fit or durability of the shoes and are often imperceptible after a few days of wear.

While supplies last. Limited to the sizes and widths that are currently available online.

Why It's Great

One of our most popular boots features a rugged style that harks back to the early logging years in Maine. While no logging experience is required to wear these today, these shoes are not only rugged, the strong features also have an elegant traditional side where the boot portion can be hidden under a pant leg.

How It's Made

The Higgins Mill is made with Horween Chromexcel leather and a Dainite all-weather sole to offer exceptional durability.

How to Wear It

The casual boot features clean, simple lines that give it a relaxed appeal that looks great on campus, at work or on the weekends.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

These types of leathers can be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove dirt and any residue. Follow by using a soft cloth to apply Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion, which has been specifically formulated for this type of leather.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from buy it elsewhere do not buy from the factory second, they oversell their stock and then go incommunicado for a month. i got a pair elsewhere and they are awesome boots. just do not bother with factory seconds flash sales or whatever pathetic names they give it .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Newly Proclaimed Boot and Allen Edmonds Addict! I have recently decided I wanted to step up my style. I am only 24 years old but I am headed down the path to become a Physician Assistant, that coupled with being 'mature' for my age (married with two sons) so I decided I needed to get serious. I bought the Natural Colored Higgins Mill boots during the Rediscover America Sale and they are by far the nicest shoes to have ever adorned my feet. I thought I step it up with my last purchase of some Timberland Boot Company Wodehouse Oxfords, but these boots are in a whole different ballpark. I did not get sized (still plan to when I can make to trip) but I did use the print out that AE has. I had it to the wrong scale at first, but after fixing that it told me I was an 11 E. I called in and told the CS agent my best fitting shoes were my Timberlands in a 11D. She said an 11D or 10.5 E would be best. I think the 10.5 E could have worked but I am very satisfied with the 11 E that I went with. There is enough room to wear wool socks, but not so much that my feet slide around in my normal dress socks( padded, not thin dress socks). Moral of the story is I am a newly found addict and cannot wait to get my hands on another pair of AE's!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot. 2nds are great! I got this brown boot during the factory 2nds sale and I couldn't be happier. Awesome boot, well made, and goes with everything. Not exactly sure why these are 2nds, because they are great quality - only a couple slight scratches but they are only noticeable if you are looking closely. I tried a pair on in the store so I knew to get a half size smaller than my usual size. Slightly snug with the first couple wears but they seem to be breaking in nicely now. I don't know why I even think about buying other brands - AE makes the best shoes I've ever worn and am now up to 4 pairs. Worth every penny!

Ask & Answer

With breaking in your leather products, do they tend to fade or stretch out?

Asked by: Tyler
Leather uppers are stretched over lasts during manufacturing, and while the shoes will soften and flex in areas once worn, they are not expected to stretch significantly overtime. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
