    Ask & Answer
Nomad Chukka Boot is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Declining quality and value Unfortunately, AE is slipping into mediocrity. The new branding and lack of overall quality is beginning to show. After nearly 50 proceeding AE purchases, the decline has become real with this recent purchase. First, the overall quality has diminished. There is nothing specifically wrong with this purchase other than the overall feel and construction seems much cheaper than I’m accustomed to. Second, this shoe took much longer to ship than any other previous order. When I sent a question to customer service I received a canned, generic, response with no follow-up...very uncharacteristic for the company I’ve grown to love. Lastly, the value of this brand is longer worth the price. The prices have increased substantially while the product quality has diminished...making it more difficult to justify the purchase proposition in my own mind. This is a painful realization after being a loyal customer for decades. Unfortunately, I’ll need to start researching different brands for my shoe purchases....something I never thought I’d have to do.

    How is the sole attached?

I understand that these are welted shoes; however, the through stitching cannot be seen on the bottom of the sole. How are the soles attached for this type of shoe? Is the mid-sole welted and the out-sole cemented to the mid-sole?
    Asked by: Bill7981
Yes, the welt is stitched to the mid-sole, which is cemented to the out-sole. Feel free to contact us again if you have additional questions!

If you wear a 9E in the park avenue what size would you recommend in the suede chukka

    Asked by: Anonymous
Due to the different lasts we use to construct our footwear, each style can fit differently based on the contours of your feet, so it’s difficult to recommend a size via email and guarantee a proper fit. Typically, we recommend trying the same size you usually wear and judging the fit based on how comfortable you feel in the shoes. If possible, we’d love to have you visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or one of our retail partners for a professional fitting. Our associates are trained to help you find the right fit for the various lasts and styles we offer. Also, keep in mind that eligible products purchased on AllenEdmonds.com may be returned within 90 days, as long as the item is unworn and accompanied by the packing slip (we advise trying the shoes on a carpeted surface to keep them in returnable condition). Will the Nomad fit someone who is an E width?

I normally buy a size 11E in my Allen Edmonds shoes with very good results. Is there a size combination in the Nomad Chukka Boot that will fit me? Perhaps an 11.5 D or an 11EEE? Thanks
    Asked by: Crusher46
The Nomad chukka boot has a Relaxed Fit which tends to be more generous. With that said, unfortunately we cannot guarantee a proper fit through this channel. Generally, you can expect a difference in volume of 3/16" between the D and the E, and 3/8" between the E and EEE. The best way to find out if they will work for you is by trying them on. What belt for snuff color chukka boot?

    Asked by: Anonymous
I would probably match the belt color with the pants that you are wearing as its hard to match with the shoes.

Never bought pair of AE I need sizing help

I’m interested in buying nomad chukka and not feasible to go to AE store, my foot measures 10&3/4 in long and 4&1/4 in wide at ball of foot I usually wear B width in western boots or D on all others. Any suggestions? Thanks
    Asked by: Mayin
My feet are 10.5 and a little wide. Bought 10.5 D and they were snug out of the box. Wore them a couple of times, the leather “settled” and they fit really well. At 10 3/4 length, I am inclined to lean towards a size 11. Would go with your normal boot width as these are boots. They usually do free returns, if they are not right, just send them back : - ) Bought my first pair this year and I now have 6 pairs in the closet, love that I can get the ideal fit for my foot. All the best with your purchase.

How slick is the bottom of the sole? Is it tacky or is it slick like some rubber soles.

I am confined to a wheelchair. If the soles are too slick for me, then the sole will allow the shoes to slip off the metal plate I keep my feet on when I go over bumps in my wheelchair.
    Asked by: TerryG
Hey there! I walk with a cane (not that old, just far worse for wear!) these aren’t terribly slick at all, and slick can be a fall risk for me, so I know where your concerns lay. It’s a rubber sole with a very fine wave pattern and has a nice resistance to it when you slide your finger over it. Similar to a well worn Danite sole, not a fresh Danite sole. Much more resistance than a leather sole by a large margin. If you normally maintain some light pressure against the plate, these will be more than fine.

I wear a 9B in your dress shoes. Should I move down a half size in the Nomad Chukka Boots as I would be getting a D width?

    Asked by: Anonymous
I wear a 9.5D in dress shoes for a snug but comfy fit. These boots in that size are quite roomy compared to my Mcallisters in that same size, so my guess is 8.5D would possibly work for you. AE returns are very easy and customer service is great, so you might even consider trying both sizes and sending one back!

Do these run hot? Could you wear them during a Texas summer?

    Asked by: Darren
First wore them in the late Summer in Nevada. Found them to be too hot for 100 degree plus days. Should be ideal for the other 3 seasons.
