    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

Normandy Cap-Toe Boot is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 61.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from What happened to Quality Control ? I will preface by saying that I do own several pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes and am more than pleased with them. This review will pertain strictly to the pair of Normandy Cap Toe Boots which I received: While the boots themselves were pleasing visually, I did not even try them on as there were defects obvious to me even before removing them from the box. Specifically, on both boots the stitching connecting the quarter to the vamp had been severed-on one of the boots the vamp, itself, had also been cut through. While I have no idea how this would occur in the normal course of manufacture, or why there would be a blade in those areas at all, my larger concern is that they were actually shipped to me in that condition. As I mentioned, this defect was apparent to me the moment I pulled back the shipping paper to reveal the boots in their box. I cannot fathom that an inspector would have failed to notice this. Perhaps there is no final inspection? I did return ship these boots the very next day; the only option presented to me for an exchange was to purchase another pair, paid in full, and then await the processing of the defect pair for a refund of my original purchase. This policy differs greatly from even a couple years ago, if I recall correctly, and makes exchanges a bit more cumbersome than I would like-especially given the reason for my return. Due to that, I chose simply to return these boots for a full refund which did take the full 10 business days as stated, here on the website, to process. In the end, though, I purchased three other pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes. The customer service was attentive however, while two pairs were of excellent build and quality, the other also exhibited an obvious manufacturing defect, while still in the box. These were also returned for a refund, sadly. Reading reviews both here and elsewhere on the web, it would seem that my recent experiences are not an exception, unfortunately. I have read it referred to as playing "AE roulette"- ordering multiple pairs in an effort to find one or two free from defects. Frankly, I'd simply prefer to order one pair with the confidence that I am purchasing first quality shoes free from obvious defects. Nonetheless, I will continue to recommend AE with the caveat that buying from an actual store may be preferable to mail order due to quality control issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very cool and stylish shoes I purchased these in brown and am very happy with the shoes. I typically wear them with jeans or cargo pants and they are very stylish and comfortable. The fit is true to size. Great pair of shoes/boots!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots! These are phenomenal boots. I have been searching for the right pair of boots for a long time. The Normandy Boots hit the sweet spot. They are well-constructed sturdy boots, but they dress up well with nice jeans or pants. Once broken in, the boots are also quite comfortable. I am looking forward to seeing how they age.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Comfort is an afterthought Love the look. Problem is the craftsmanship is sorely lacking. Seams across the top of the foot are poorly designed and are immediately painful upon putting the boot on. Construction flaws suggest poor quality control. Very disappointed in seeing this kind of quality issues from Allen Edmonds. Clearly a negative impact on a good name.

    What polish should I use?

I just purchased these and used a neutral kiwi polish and rubbed in like with any other pair of AE shoes or boots, but this more textured leather just holds onto much of the polish even after drying. As much as I brush, it now looks like my boots have dandruff except for the cap toe and parts of the heel where the leather is smooth. Any recommendations?
    Asked by: Devin
We recommend using Allen Edmonds Saddle Soap and work the soap into a lather to see if you can remove any excess product. Then follow the care instructions on the 'Care' tab on this product's listing. For regular conditioning, you may use our Leather Lotion. If you would like to restore color, you can use our Speed Polish. We apologize, we do not recommend other care products as we are no aware of what other chemical or ingredients other's brands use. Feel free to contact us again if you have additional questions!

Should I size down when buying this shoe.

I have seen on reviews were a lot of people recommend sizing down on this boot before I make a purchase should I do a size down I am a 10 and a 1/2 and 1 of my feet is slightly smaller than the other
    Asked by: Robert
These boots reminded me when I use to wear "jump boots" in the military (they are almost exactly the same), so I remember needing foot pads. Please do your knees and feet a favor and buy in your regular size, so you can add foot pads with arch support.

Is this new Normandy boot still made from Kudu?

I have the older Normandy in brown kudu and double leather oak sole. This new one (830x) says it's weatherproof, and it look like there's a sheen to them. Is it still made from Kudu? If not, what kind of leather is it? Safe to wear these in a steady rain? Do you recommend using the new weatherproofing spray on these?
    Asked by: Ducatisti
I don’t think they are waterproof. I have the dark ones and have sprayed them several times with leather waterproofing spray.

What’s is the care routine for this leather?

It currently describes a routine for suede, which this shoe is not.

I just wipe them down every once and a while. The soles only last me a year, so I have AE do it all once a year
