STEP 1: Using a damp cloth or sponge, lather our Saddle Soap and apply onto leather to clean and restore its natural oils.

STEP 2: Moisturize the shoes with our Cream Polish to make them supple and soft, following instructions on the product.

STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

*For camo printed leather, simply rub our Leather Lotion onto print with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth as needed and wipe smudges or dirt away with a damp cloth.

    Classic Fit

Most people consider a “classic” fit to be a “standard” fit. This fit more closely aligns with the natural shape of your feet.

    Ask & Answer
Dalton Wingtip Dress Boots with Dainite Rubber Sole is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, Stylish and Functional Very pleased with my Daltons. Solid construction and quality craftsmanship are evident from the first step. Comfortable and well-fitting like all my AE shoes. Daltons dress up or down with equal flair. They endure the elements and shine back up like new. Daltons rise higher than my other laced boots, so my trick is to lace them tightly on the instep and looser up the ankle to get some range of motion. Dainite soles combat the weather without looking like a 4x4.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from My left boot is great, the right one not so much I been wanting to buy a pair of these for a while now. I finally pulled the trigger during the sale they had in October. I waited for about a month to get them crafted, since my EEE width was not available off the shelf. The leather quality and the integrity of the construction seems to be very good. However, the construction was not done properly on the right boot and the tongue was sown tilted more towards one of the sides, compared to the left boot. I noticed this right when I got them off the box for the first time, but thought that it was not going to be an issue and that with time the leather was going to conform more to my feet/ankle and it was going to fix itself. I couldn't have been more wrong. The tongue of my right boot is always moving to the side and can feel uncomfortable sometimes. I know this can probably be easily fixed by a cobbler but I feel that a $300 (price with the sale discount, retails for $445) boot shouldn't need this. It is making me hesitant of buying other AE boots.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not impressed Returned due to quality issues (right boot tongue or flap wouldnt stay centered when laced) and purchased something outside of allen edmonds. Should of listened to all the negative reviews. On a positive note....the return process was decent and it took 7 business days after them receiving to get a refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Boot The Dalton with a dainite sole is hands down by favorite pair of boots. I own two pairs in the same walnut color! It transitions perfectly from a rainy day to and from the office to a casual pair of dark wash denim. I'm always in my Dalton boots.

    C Width?

How much narrower is the B width vs. the D width? Unfortunately, there is no C width available...? I tried both a 10.5D and 11D in a store. The 10.5 was slightly tight in the toe area, and the 11 was too wide in general (my 5th Avenue in 11D fits perfect).
    Asked by: ML
Technically speaking, each width increases by approximately three-sixteenths of an inch in total girth.

Would Allen Edmonds consider making boots with safety toes?

Sometimes I need to wear safety toed shoes when in the plant and I would like some nice boots I could wear to the office and on the plant floor.

What style socks should you wear with these boots? Thin dress socks or thick boot socks?

Trying to get the proper size. They feel really loose in dress socks and fit ok with thick Thorlo boot socks.
    Asked by: Nathan
For me my style is always dress socks in dress shoes. Also these are not the same as a typical work boot the fit is like a dress shoe and in order to keep from being to tight I wear dress socks .

Can I get a pair of these boots without the stylization?

I want to purchase these boots and I am not fond of the holes/stylization. Is there a way I can order them without it?
    Asked by: Sean89
We do not offer customization of this nature. We recommend taking a look at the following styles with minimal or no perfing details: First Avenue, Higgins Mill, Dundee, or Fifth Street. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

    Dalton or First Avenue boots?

Are there substantial differences between the Dalton and the First Avenue in wet/cold weather? I'm in the Midwest and my boots take a beating over the next 6 months. I actually just returned a Higgins Mill boot because unfortunately the style was too casual. At least I did not think it paired well with a suit. I like the First Avenue style a bit more but am wondering if the Dainite rubber sole is worth the trade off. I know I can do the First Ave in Dainite but not in black. Thoughts? Thanks very much, I appreciate the consideration.

We use the same constructions methods on both the Dalton and the First Avenue, the difference will be the fit and the design (wingtip vs captoe). The Dalton is made on the 511 last which is slightly rounder toe than the First Avenue made on the 201 last and has a more chiseled look. Rubber soles tend to hold up better than leather soles on wet ground, keep in mind however neither is considered to be waterproof. We suggest wearing SWIMS if there are any concerns about weather conditions, and thicker boot socks to protect better against colder temperatures. Ultimately, both styles are dress boots and can be paired with a suit, so the selection comes down to personal preference. We hope that helps, feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
