    Care Instructions

Cordovan leather requires different care than calfskin due to its unique properties. Brush and wipe regularly and apply cream occasionally to protect the leather and maintain its rich color.

    Regular Maintenance:

Regularly, brush the leather with our Horsehair Shine Brush or wipe with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth.

To Protect and Restore Color, Follow These Steps:

STEP 1: Wipe your shoe down with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

STEP 2: Using your Horsehair Dauber, apply a small amount of Cordovan cream in a circular motion.

STEP 3: While the cream is still slightly wet, take our Horsehair Shine Brush and brush back and forth, heating the cream and leather. This allows the natural oils to move to the surface to bring out the leather's natural shine.

STEP 4: Next, use the soft side of our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth to buff the shoe until the surface is no longer tacky. Often, some excess cream will transfer onto the cloth, which is normal.

STEP 5: Take our Heel Dressing applicator and press against the edge of the heel and sole.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great business and casual shoe This is my second pair of EA shoes I bought. Like the Fifth Avenue I bought them in NY, but these in Walnut. As the Fifth Avenues, they are perfect to wear, look stunning and are extremely comfortable. I most of the time wear them with blue Jeans and they are my go to shoes when I am not 100% sure if I should go formal or casual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought this shoes for my brother 73rd birthday on July 4th My brother owns over a dozen pairs since he first bought his first Allen Edmonds shoes. I just bought him the same shoes two weeks before I got this for him, the Walnut color. He always looks his best when wearing his Allen Edmonds shoes. My recommendation is that you sent a polish with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Looking Shoe This review is for the Strand Weave Cap-toe Oxford in Walnut color. It is a great looking shoe! The color, broguing, and woven leather look fantastic together in this design. The cap toe and the six eyelets on the lacing give a balanced proportion to the shoe. It seems to fit just a little bit looser than my Park Avenues, but not enough to make me go down half a size. There were a few details in the craftsmanship I noticed: the woven portion on one shoe is oriented at a slightly different angle than the other. And the seam in the back of one shoe is not centered on the heel. No one will ever notice these subtle inconsistencies, and for the sale price I paid, totally worth it. I highly recommend, and I enjoy wearing them especially for a casual summer look. Great quality, price point, recraftable, and made in USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is an excellent shoe that will last a lifetime The first impression is how supple the leather is. This is not the same as lower priced name brand shoes that tend to be hard leather. The shoes are lined very nicely and the Dainite soles are a pleasant surprise. They are so well made and have great traction without looking casual. But they allow you to dress up casual outfits at the same time. A great mutli-function shoe that is a winner.

Does this shoe have greater depth than a regular shoe

I need shoes that offer more than typical depth, how di I know which ones do. Also, I cant figure out your different foot shapes, can I speak to a knowledgeable person.
    Asked by: Doug
Well Doug, I need a wide shoe. Even with the Balmoral construction, I found them very comfortable, having a high instep is my problem but they are roomy for me anyway. If you are new to AE find a AE store and develop a good relationship with a sales person. I come to the US twice a year and buy my AE's when on sale. Some of the casual shoes are made in the Dominican Republic (casuals) and they are well made.

    Sizing

A J&M wingtip is slightly large on me in a size 8 Standard. I'm told these run a little big. Do you suggest sizing down to a 7.5 E (my foot is just a tad wider than standard) or sticking with an 8E? In Vans and other sports shoes I typically wear a size 8.5 - 9. Thanks for any help you can provide on these. I realize getting fitted in the store is the best option but there isn't an AE near me.

How do you clean, polish and care for these shoes?

    Asked by: Louisville502
If they were dirty, I'd use saddle soap first. I used Saphir conditioner and light brown polish. Looks great. I'd use a dauber for the weave part, it's difficult to get the polish in all the parts of the weave with just a cotton t shirt or the like..
