Catalina Soft Penny Loafer is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from The sole is a dealbreaker I wanted to like this shoe, but the crepe sole is a dealbreaker. The upper part of the shoe is beautiful, high quality suede and the fit is great, but the crepe sole is a terrible match. The sole is very light colored and gets dirty very easily—after just a couple days of moderate wear, the sole has gotten so discolored that you can see the discoloration from the side. This looks cheap and nasty, and ruins the elegant look of the suede. Get the Sea Island instead, which has a leather sole that looks to be a much better option for this type of loafer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love This Shoe! At first it seemed the shoe was a little too tight. (ordered my normal size) However I thought the suede would stretch a little. So, in faith, I wore them on a week long trip to San Fransisco and Napa Valley. In S.F., we walked 5 to 9 miles a day. I wore them at Muir Woods on a 3 hour hike. On the first 2 to 3 days, by the end of the day the shoes were a little tight. By the end of the trip and now at home, they are incredibly comfortable. I may buy another pair just to have for the future. A dark brown color would be a guaranteed purchase, Due to my balance being impaired by M.S., a lightweight, flexible, comfortable shoe is essential. This shoe provides the proper feedback I need and is still comfortable to wear all day. Also, it looks really cool!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great looking Summer / Fall look w/o Socks If you are thinking about this shoe two things first ; 1) the sole and cushioning are very well made 2) be careful in choosing the size , should go up an 1/2 to accommodate the narrow bridge . Hoping the shoes stretch a little bit with more use , ( 3 weeks in have only worn about 6 times) Still a Great Look w/ o socks !!

How does the 554 last compare to the 555 last as for fitting purposes

    Asked by: Bishop 123

    Could it be stretched?

I bought this shoes in blue, but had to returned it because it was a little bit tight for my feet. I probably be comfortable if it were E width. But unfortunately they don't have that in my size. So my question being, could I stretch it that much? Please advice. jro
    Asked by: JOSE
Good evening, Jose. Allen Edmonds shoes are not intended to be stretched and doing so can cause irreversible damage to the leather. We hope this helps! Thank you for being an Allen Edmonds customer.

    Fit?

This shoe appears to be a reboot of the Sea Island with a new outsole. How similar is the fit to the Sea Island? The Sea Island used the 555 last which is very flat and particularly brutal for a high instep; it was one of the rare shoes from AE that I had to buy true to length to compensate. Will the new last used here be similar?
