STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is an excellent product. As usual ,the fit, color, and quality of this pair AE shoes were excellent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from On my second pair... They're better! Just wanted to say that the first pair I bought several years ago had some issues. The positives for me were the memory foam/squishy sole was very comfortable, and the quality of the leather was a step up from comparable shoes. I have bought Allen Edmonds for years so I know my size, so I rated these true to fit. The negatives on the first pair was they had cheap slip in liners and the soles wore down very fast, Especially if you're a heel striker. After a year the heels were so worn down I needed to toss the shoes/recraft them. The tread on the sole also wears fast, leading to the shoes getting slippery on wet surfaces, especially if you're walking on stone like granite. So I went back to the store and saw that they upgraded the shoe. They looked a lot more high end this time: the leather looked nicer and the liners were upgraded. They also were on sale so I took a chance. I'm now a year into these and these are much better. The leather is wearing nicely and they still look really good. The sole still wears but not as badly as the last pair. For a workhorse shoe these are holding up well. My honest advice is these are great shoes... On sale. If they made the soles last longer , maybe by keeping the squishiness but using a tougher laminate on the bottom to stop the wearing and give better grip these would be really amazing shoes worth the full cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An excellent value for the price. I've had mine for about three years, now. I really like them. The chili color really starts to take on a nice character and patina with age. I've seen others disparage this shoe as having poor quality leather. You have to remember that its meant to be a shoe more for people on their feet constantly who will wear out shoes and who need the comfort of a soft non-leather sole. This shoe does deliver if you understand its purpose and who its marketed for. I'm a high school teacher and I'm on my feet a lot; its a 1/10th mile walk each way to the men's room, for example and these shoes really do save me on aches and pains. Where the criticisms are correct is that in my view they do tend to run a bit narrow in the toes and forefoot, and I wear a 14 EEE. It isn't a deal breaker nor overly uncomfortable, but it is something to be aware of if you have sensitive or super wide feet. If not, and if you break in the shoes I doubt that you'll have a problem. Having said that and given that Road Warriors series is designed for people on their feet all day, Allen Edmonds could make these shoes and the other Road Warriors just a tiny bit wider. My LGA Wingtip Oxfords made on the same last are noticeable wider compared to the LAX Derby Shoe, and therefore just that tiny bit more comfy at the end of a long day. The other suggestion I would make would be to offer the entire Road Warrior series with the option of a more aggressive lug sole like the Tate Collection usually had as that would perhaps offer more padding and stability. Again, to reiterate if you know what the purpose of these shoes is, you'll likely not be disappointed. If you realize that you're getting a good quality shoe for a much lower price, you won't be upset by a somewhat lower quality (thought still quite nice) leather. If you have narrow foot issues, consider ordering a tiny bit wider of a shoe. I'm wearing mine on a nice first class flight from LAX (get it?) to CLE over Thanksgiving and I'm sure that I'll look the part of a well dressed traveler and my feet will certainly be comfortable!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Waste of Money I bought 2 pairs of the LAX Derby shoes (one chili, one black), and will likely throw them away. The chili ones run so narrow that they squeeze my toes/feet and hurt enough that I have to take them off by lunch. The black ones squeak loudly when I walk, to the point that people have commented on it; it's almost like they are made out of cheap plastic instead of leather. I've never had these issues with any other AE shoes. Waste of money.

How does these compare to the Badlands model (which are great)?

The Badlands shoe is one of the most comfortable Allen Edmonds shoes I have worn. These appear to be aimed at the same wearer and for the same purpose. How are they alike and how are these different?
    Asked by: Anonymous
Hello, Thank you for your inquiry! The Lax derby is part of our road warrior collection. The LAX is designed for comfortable and durability. Also, it has a removable heel and Madison XL sole. The Badlands are similar in style and in comfort to the LAX derby. -AE Consumer Care Dept.

Will these shoes be comfortable for walking around six miles a day on pavement?

    Asked by: Anonymous
I have had a pair for two years. The lightweight foam sole is very comfortable for walking but has poor longevity. If you walked 6 miles per day on pavement, you would be shopping for new shoes in a couple months!

    Recraft with leather sole

Can this shoe be recrafted with a leather sole?
    Asked by: Anonymous
Even if you could you would change the dynamics of the whole shoe and loose much of your cushion you purchased them for in the first place I presume.

Can the heel alone be replaced, or does the entire sole need to be replaced? How much does the heel/sole replacement cost? (Same as leather soles?)

    Asked by: Anonymous
The Road Warriors sole is a single unit and so the complete sole (including the heel) would be replaced through the Standard Package or Prestige Package Recrafting service. For current prices on Recrafting services please visit our Recrafting page. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
