  • Care

We believe a great pair of shoes or boots is always a solid long-term investment. To keep your favorite footwear in top form for years or even decades to comes, use our 4 Step Shoe Care Process and these essential products.

    1. Clean

Start by applying Saddle Soap with a Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth to remove stains and dirt from the uppers and bring up the leather's natural oils.

    2. Polish

Next, use a Horsehair Dauber to treat your footwear with Cream Polish which renews the color and luster of leather. Any time you want to achieve a truly glossy, high shine, you should instead apply Carnauba Wax Polish.

    3. Dress

Restore the color and surface of the leather on the heels and soles using Heel Dressing.

    4. Protect

Leather Lotion keeps uppers soft, supple and hydrated while a Horsehair Shine Brush is perfect for buffing your shoes to the desired shine. As a last step, spray on Water Protector to guard against harmful moisture and spills and use a Leather Dopp Kit to keep all your care products organized.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic black wingtip What a nice shoe. Everyone says, "Oh, you need to break in good shoes." Really? I'd think good shoes would feel great the same day. Maybe a bit tight as you mold the leather to your foot. But painful? These were great right out of the box. I've owned them a few weeks and they have been awesome every time I wear them. Great leather - the vamp seems very thick and will continue to look good without major creasing for a while. I did get a 10.5D. I was concerned with AE shoes as they "seem" to run skinny. Or maybe just true to width. Shoe sizes are all over the place. In dress shoes, I can be a 10 in one store and 11.5 in another. IT's crazy. But I was surprised to be a 10.5D. I've worn E and EEE shoes my entire life. I did order a 10E along with the 10.5D and it didn't fit well. So it's not that I ordered a too-long shoe. So if you are worried these are going to be too tight on you, rest assured they are wonderful.

What is the difference between the MacNeil 2 and the mcgregor?

    Asked by: Anonymous
The first difference is that the shoes are built on different lasts, so they will fit differently. Generally speaking the Mcgregor will be longer and narrower. The second difference is that the Macneil has a double oak leather sole and a storm welt, whereas the Mcgregor has a single oak leather sole and a standard welt. The Macneil will look "blockier" and that may or may not be your preference for this style of shoe. Third, the Macneil has piping on the edges whereas the Mcgregor does not. I happen to like the piping.

I recently purchased a pair McGregors. I've noticed that they seem to be lighter than my Larchmonts for example. Is there anything different in the

Also, they are still squeaking after several wearings. Is this indicative of anything?
    Asked by: Anonymous
The main difference between the Larchmont and McGregor is the fit of each style since they are constructed on different lasts. The other difference is that the Larchmont features a Poron insole for added cushion. The nature of the handcrafting process, however, results in a unique pair of shoes every time. Squeaking sometimes occurs on new shoes because Allen Edmonds uses authentic leathers such as calf skin. When two pieces of new leather rub against each other, such as the leather lining, upper leather and /or tongue leathers, a slight squeaking may occur. The fix is usually quite simple; general wear will eliminate the noise or you can apply leather lotion as a lubricant. Lotion can be found at AllenEdmonds.com, most shoe shine stands or simply visit an Allen Edmonds store and have a store associate apply the lotion for you. Importantly, if you have any further concerns or needs please contact our customer assistance center at 877-817-7615.
