    Care Instructions

STEP 1: Using a damp cloth or sponge, lather our Saddle Soap and apply onto leather to clean and restore its natural oils.

STEP 2: Moisturize the shoes with our Cream Polish to make them supple and soft, following instructions on the product.

STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

*For camo printed leather, simply rub our Leather Lotion onto print with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth as needed and wipe smudges or dirt away with a damp cloth.
    Fit

    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

McTavish Oxford Wingtip Dress Shoe is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classy, Rugged, and Unique I am sorry that this shoe is being phased out, but very happy I was able to get one of the last pairs that was available. First off, it is beautifully made of Horween Dublin leather and looks rustic and dressy at the same time. The lugged rubber sole means it can go from dry to wet surfaces and not skip a beat. The fact that it is an oxford means it is versatile enough to go from jeans to dress occasions easily. A wonderful expression and comfortable to wear. Again, sorry to see it go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than I Thought The Fit is 5 Star First Thank You to Allen Edmonds Customer Service and Caleb Malinowski from Kirby Allison's Customer Service for there attention and going out of there way to help me with the purchase of my McTavish ( tan ) shoes; I take a size 8.5 D and suffer from Diabetes Type 2, so shoe comfort is very important to me. Between both Customer Service Departments I ordered the shoes in my true size on July 2, I just received the shoes via FedX today July 4th. Yes on a holiday ( very impressive ). Talk about Impressive the box alone is a classic of true class. The McTavish shoes, I couldn't believe how soft the Horween Dublin leather is, like butter sitting on a counter at room temperature. The tan color is just as soft , so I laced them up shoe horn in hand inserted my feet in both shoes and the fit is perfect from heal to toe very soft leather and cushioned. The ball of my feet both were in haven. The Mctavish gives you just the right amount of room width and length wise your toes never hit the narrow part of the shoe up front. The Horween Dublin Leather seems to soften and wrap your feet in comfort. As advise from Caleb I will be using the Saphir Oiled leather cream which I will order from Kirby Allison; THANK YOU I LOVE THE SHOES.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really want to like these, but... This is my second pair of McTavish. I love the distressed leather with the lug sole. It works perfectly with my casual wardrobe. I receive many compliments....as long as I stand still. Both shoes have a very loud squeak that gets worse with every wearing. The first were factory seconds, so I figured buyer beware. The second came from the retail store and were fine for the first few wearings, but now exhibit the same problem. It took me awhile, but I finally determined that it is caused by the heel design. I am a long time AE customer with around 20 pairs spanning all styles. This model differs in that the back of the shoe is nearly vertical, whereas all of my other shoes ( Strand, Strandmock, Higgins Mill, Fifth Ave, etc...) have some curvature. I now know that the reason for that curvature is to stabilize the heel while walking. The vertical surface on the McTavish allows excessive relative movement between my heel and the shoe which results in the squeaking noise that I and others are experiencing. I have tried multiple inserts to no effect. I brought to my local cobbler who agreed that it was a very unusual deign. I plan to keep the latest pair, but I just know not to wear them on days when I plan to be walking a lot.

What belt do you recommend pairing with the Tan Horween Dublin Leather McTavish Oxford Wingtip Dress Shoe

    Asked by: topherblue
Great question, after purchasing my McTavish in Tan I would keep the belt in same color theme as the shoes example brown, tan or in the light or dark shades. Yes I would wear an exotic print leather belt or a flat color belt.

    squeaking/squishing

Hi, I bought these in tan a couple months ago. I've been breaking them in, but cannot get rid of the squeaking a squishing sound they make every step in the heel area. I have other Mctavish shoes and many other Allen Edmonds, the size is correct, they just have heel squeaking. Any suggestions? I've put leather lotion on the inside of the heels, and have been wearing them around the house and to work a few times, but it's just not going away.
    Asked by: Norm
We apologize for any concerns that have occurred with your McTavish style. Squeaking sometimes occurs on shoes because we use authentic leathers such as calfskin. When two pieces of leather rub against each other, such as the leather lining, upper leather and /or tongue leathers, squeaking may occur due to the friction. The fix is usually quite simple; general wear will help dissipate the noise, or you can apply Leather Lotion as a lubricant. Customers also report that applying foot powder inside the shoe can reduce this noise. Importantly, if you have further questions or concerns, please call our AllenEdmonds.com Consumer Care Department for assistance at 1-877-817-7615. The Call Center hours are Monday 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Tuesday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. CST.

I own several pairs of MacNeils. 10.5 D's. How comparable is McTavish sizing - width and lengh?

    Asked by: Anonymous
The McTavish is made on the 201 last. The 201 last is the newest last introduction from the Product Development team. This last has a higher cone, providing more room for a higher instep and contemporary shelf appeal. The toe down has fuller forefoot width for more comfort and slight chisel to the toe profile, providing a sleek looking aesthetic which complements our iconic 65 last. The MacNeil is made on the 97 last. The 97 last is the best fit for the average foot. The 97 last is one of Allen Edmonds early lasts, and has a soft, slightly pointed toe. It lays flatter in the toe area for a classic American look. We would recommend going with your normal size and judging the fit based on how it feels. Your shoes should fit comfortably snug directly out of the box.
