Randolph Penny Loafer is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 279.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great design but disappointing quality I bought this shoe in Chili several years ago and wear it a lot because sometimes I don't want to tie laces. The black pair I received had several hanging threads near the neck and large knots in the the sole stiching. I exchanged it for another pair that was better but still has from the same problems. It seems that AE is having trouble maintaining the level of quality I was accustomed to years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As expected a comfortable classic The quality of the shoes are consistent with those I've owned the past 35 years. The leather is forgiving but will hold a hard gloss shine. They will last.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great loafers I bought these on sale and they are excellent. Fit well out of the box and very comfortable. With legendary AE quality and durability, I will wear these for many years. Some AE shoes I’ve been wearing 30+ years, after sending in for reconditioning. The quality can’t be beat, and they’re made in the USA. Highly recommend these AE loafers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Comfortable Shell Cordovan Loafer I bought these AE Randolph burgundy shell cordovan loafers because I really like the versatility of loafers as my go to shoes. These are so comfortable and fit absolutely true to size. The 12 D is spot on perfect and the slightly padded innersoles make them perfect for all day wear. Though these are sold as a dress loafer, I bought them to wear with jeans for informal wear. They have developed a nice subtle patina characteristic of footwear that is worn in less than ideal conditions. but this just adds to the overall appeal of these shoes. Over time, a somewhat dull satin finish with scuffs has developed that makes them a great loafer to wear with jeans. These have great support for long term wear, and the loafer style stays snug without becoming sloppy which is characteristic of the loafer style overall. I have lots of AE shoes, but I must say, these are some of the most comfortable shoes ai have ever worn. I highly recommend this Randolph loafer.

    Custom orthotics

I require the use of custom orthotics to compensate for one leg being about 1/4" shorter than the other and a fallen arch, with which, the cork insoles aren't compatible. I'm currently searching for alternatives to taking my new shoes to the cobbler to have them altered. Is there another option offered by you that I may not be aware of?
    Asked by: Lucas
We would recommend taking your orthotics to your local store. They may be able to offer alternative options.

    Discontinuations

I heard that AE was discontinuing both the Grayson and Patriot in the shell cordovan collection. That literally leaves just the Randolph as the only loafer. The 79-last is literally the worst last I've ever encountered for a high instep such as mine. Is there any chance at all the Lake Forest will join the cordovan collection to take the place of the Patriot?
    Asked by: Anonymous
Hello, At this time, we do not have plans to make the Lake Forest loafers in cordovan. -AE Consumer Care Dept.

Can I send Randolph for recrafting and ask for a softer sole, like a rubber sole.

My feet ache after wearing. I need more cushion on the sole. I wonder if there a different option when recrafting. Is there a rubber sole option?

Difference between Randolph & Patriot other than look

What other differences are there between the Randolph Cordovan Loafer & the Patriot Cordovan Loafer especially concerning how they fit. I am a 9D on Allen Edmonds Jefferson 2.0 shoes.
    Asked by: Humboldt10
The Patriot and the Randolph are both considered to have a Classic fit. Most people consider a “classic” fit to be a “standard” fit. This fit more closely aligns with the natural shape of your feet. Typically, we recommend trying the same size you usually wear and judging the fit based on how comfortable you feel in the shoes. If possible, we’d love to have you visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or one of our retail partners for a professional fitting. Our associates are trained to help you find the right fit for the various styles we offer. Also, keep in mind that products purchased on AllenEdmonds.com may be returned within 90 days, as long as the item is unworn and accompanied by the packing slip (we advise trying the shoes on a carpeted surface to keep them in returnable condition).

    What is this marking?

I found a stamp that looks like D3 (or 03) inside my Randolph. What is it? I could not attach a photo. If you need to see the stamp to answer the question, please let me know how to send. Thank you.
    Asked by: JustPruitt
If it's not the size and width of the shoes, then it's most likely a manufacturing code. Feel free to message our customer service team directly via the 'Contact Us' page if you require further assistance. https://www.allenedmonds.com/customer-service/help.html

With laced shoes I buy a 9.5 D, should I buy a half size smaller with loafers?

    Asked by: JD
I wear a 11.5A/B laced shoe - I returned the 11.5B in exchange for a 11B as it was too large & loose-fitting. This works. JBW- TX. 5/‘19

    Normal Loafer Sizing?

I bought these Randolph Loafers in a size 8.5 EEE (all my most recent shoe purchases have been 8.5 W). I've never owned a pair of loafers before but they are loose in the heel. Do you usually buy loafers a little smaller or is slippage in the heel normal because there is no lacing system?
    Asked by: Thomas
As the previous comment points out, it's normal for all shoes to have a bit of slippage at the heel. However, a loafer should fit snugly and comfortably and it shouldn't be too tight. If your foot is slipping out of the loafers as you walk, that's an indication that the loafer is not the proper size. Typically, socks can provide some degree of traction, and heel grips can also help. We highly recommend trying a different size or width if you feel that the fit is not comfortable. If at all possible, we suggest visiting an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner that can better advise you on the fit of this style. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
