STEP 2: Moisturize the shoes with our Cream Polish to make them supple and soft, following instructions on the product.

STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

*For camo printed leather, simply rub our Leather Lotion onto print with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth as needed and wipe smudges or dirt away with a damp cloth.

Fifth Avenue Cap-Toe Oxford is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 941.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5th Avenue Dark Chili is awesome I have multiple AE shoes over the years, and this is my favorite color. The Dark Chili looks great and has held so far over the past few months. I have read a lot of the comments and they seem to be hit or miss. My suggestion would be to find a store and go try them on. Once you get the fit and pick out the style you are good to go. I have two old Cliftons that I bought from Nordstrom's over 10 years ago and had them recrafted at AE and they still look good. The Park avenue and 5th avenue are my favorites. Find a sale, try them on and enjoy a great dress shoe for many years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fifth Avenue Cap-Toe Oxford I ordered (3 pair) the same size as the Johnston and Murphy Aldrich ll I had been wearing for years. The styling of the Fifth Ave is very appealing and and overall similar to Johnston and Murphy Aldrich ll. However the 65 last must be longer since I felt extra space in the toe box as well as the heel felt looser than I have been accustomed to. I did notice idiocyncracies between the shoes. With the mahogany pair, the laces of the left shoe had a wider gap when fully laced (my left foot is slightly smaller in volume than the right), and the laces of the right shoe were fully closed without any gap. It seems quality control needs to tightened up. Two pair were shipped together in one shipping box and the third was ordered after the first two arrived. The individual shipping box was destroyed by rain since it arrived without notice after dark and was subsequently rained on overnight. Neither package arrived with an invoice / receipt for the items or a return label. I would think this would be standard practice! I would be very satisfied if the fit was what I was expecting. Now I am in a quest to find socks comparable to mid-calf Gold Toe Fluffies when the company was in its heyday of the 1990s. Those socks had sufficient bulk for warmth and to minimize heel slack and adequate elasticity to stay up. Can A&E step up to the plate and make life wonderful again by creating such a sock? Why doesn't A&E have a brick and mortar store in the southeast metropolitan area of Virginia? What a great experience it would be to walk into a store, make a selection and go home with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from runs very small Purchased three pairs of shoes. All three were the same size, at least they were supposed to be. The Hamilton boots fit well and are very comfortable. The Fifth Avenue with the Dainite sole is a little tight. The Fifth Avenue with the leather sole is extremely tight. I have been wearing the two pairs of Fifth Avenue shoes expecting that they would break in and get more comfortable. They did some but not much. I am wearing the Hamilton boots for the first time today. There is no way that all three pairs of shoes are the same size. I would like to return the Fifth Avenue shoes for new ones that are actually the size I ordered.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks like the AE quality has diminished slightly. The sole and the stitching looked like it came from the Seconds bin.... This is not my first AE purchase... I was expecting more when it came to quality and finish. I guess they have these Christmas sales to get rid of all the stocked up seconds.... I'm truly disappointed.

What type of color is mahogany?

Is it a darker version of chili (so a brown with some red hues in it)? Or is it more like a shinier version of cigar (so a sort of museum brown)? Or something else? As ever, it's a little hard to tell from the photos against a white background.
    Asked by: srlclark
The pair that I received showed signs of wear and an attempt to polish the shoes. That being said it could be any shade.

Is any part of this shoe bookbinder or corrected grain leather?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Definitely not!....uppers are soft calf with multistage finishing and a full leather lining. Construction and finishing quality are beautiful. Comfortable with little to no break in time..Worth the money if you reject a throwaway culture and value fine quality

How long does the sale go for the fifth avenue dress shoe? Also, do we get 15% off our first purchase even if the fifth ave shoe is on sale already?

    Asked by: Anonymous
You only get 15% off your first order. I recently purchased two pairs of fifth avenues and am returning them both. The shoes have obviously been worn, inside the shoes you can see wear marks on the heal and the insoles. The leather uppers were scratched and scuffed up which were noticeable. Parts of the leather uppers were crackling and you can tell that someone tried to polish the shoes but it looked shoddy. I’ve returned four out of ten pairs of shoes ordered and the other six had some flaws that were not that bad. Returning 40 % of shoes ordered makes one wonder if quality control is part of the process anymore. Purchase at your own risk.

    Which shoe polish for mahogany?

Hi, which shoe polish color should I used for Mahogany? It seems to be a new addition to the fifth ave selection.
    Asked by: Brian
First,..I always treat the new shoes with Sapir Renovateur moisturizer and give a good brushing. This alone adds a lot of depth to the finish and improves the appearance immediately. I am then using Sapir cream polish 09- Mahogany and it seems spot on. Hope that helps.

I live in and travel to areas that can be awfully wet and thusly slick with this type sole. Are there options to help with that?

I’ve seen tape that some people sell but I don’t want to void a warranty yet out something on the sole to give me more traction. Please offer recommendations. Thank you. Justin
    Asked by: Anonymous
Justin, your best strategy would have been to order these shoes on the website with the optional partial rubber sole, but that does unfortunately add to the cost of what is already and expensive shoe. I wouldn't hesitate to go to a shoe repair shop and have partial rubber soles put on. If you have worn the shoes a while, you know whether they are well built and so worrying about a warranty is pretty pointless. There are also websites that offer very minimally fashioned rubber overshoes that cover the lower half of the shoe--a great option if you live in a very stormy area.
