STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not supportive nor comfortable like they used to be Unfortunately I’m rather disappointed with my purchases from Allen Edmonds. I have a 6 year old Strand that I I still wear to this day. With it being such a fine, comfortable shoe I’ll keep getting it re-soled as long it keeps looking great. Something has changed for the worse as the 5th Avenue and the Leiden Weave I also bought have no where near the comfort that this brand used to offer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Right shoe is excellent, left shoe looks like a Factory Second... the second time this has happened in 2 orders of new shoess I replied to the customer service feedback email, but haven't heard back in almost a week so figured this may be the best forum to contact AE customer service. Below is my original email. I can the attach pics I included in my original email if that is helpful. Dear Allen Edmonds Customer Feedback, I received my shoes today (Fifth Avenue Coffee, SKU: 1015862-032-STD), and have to admit I was rather disappointed. The right shoe was in excellent condition and looked great. The left shoe, however, was a different story. The leather had a number of dark brown splotches and was a bit rougher to the touch in those spots. This was especially noticeable on the sides of the shoe. It looks like a "Factory Second." I have attached pictures so you can see for yourself. (Additional comments: Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened either, as my first pair of AE - bought new - were the same way, with one shoe excellent and the other of noticeably different quality. First time might be anomaly, but 2/2 is very disappointing. Customer service response will determine whether I buy alternatives to AE in the future). I do like the right shoe and if both shoes were in the condition as the right shoe, I would be extremely happy and gladly keep them. What is the best way to proceed? Should I send the left shoe back to you, or bring it into the store? Please let me know how best to proceed. I'm not sure if this is the right way to raise my concerns, so I can also write a review instead if that is the proper channel. Thank you very much for your time and care.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent shoe. Absoultly the most comfortable dress show I have ever bought. I asked a relative who is a shoe cobbler what a Goodyear welt was, he said, "Greg if your buying a shoe that has one you will pay more but it will well be worth your money and they are recraftable". I also, talked with a law enforcement officer who said I am on my feet a lot with my protection detail and make sure you get the Dainite sole which I did. I have purchased Johnston and Murphy along with Cole Hann and have had the leather separate from the sole because I learned they were glued together. So, I bought my first pair about three months ago ( Black fifth ave) and have loved them! I am now the owner of Strandmok Cap-Toe Oxford with Dainite Rubber Sole and a Patton Cap-Toe Boot with Dainite Rubber Sole. I will not ever buy any other brand of shoe and my feet are thanking me for it!!!

Is the perfing on the surface or does it go all the way through, i.e., does it let in water when it rains?

If Dainite soles come standard, can one ask for the red sole at standard price? Thank you.
    Asked by: wing26collar
The perfing is on the surface of the cap toe component and the shoes are lined. Keep in mind however that leather is a naturally porous material and susceptible to water damage if exposed to r rain or snow. We recommend wearing SWIMS overshoes if you expect inclement weather conditions. The Red Dainite Sole is a custom sole option that can be added for an additional custom fee. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
