Park Avenue Cordovan Cap-toe Oxford is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1086.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I think they run narrow I've worn AE shows for decades and always thought they felt good out of the box and lasted for a long time. Awhile back I bought the Park Avenue cap toe and the left shoe was very tight. I had it stretched at the store, but it was still too tight and seemed to actually get tighter. I've worn AE shoes in size 12 B for years but I was disappointed in this shoe. I went back and bought another pair and I'm trying the 12C. I have not worn them yet. I hope they work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great When You Find A Properly Made Pair Craftsmanship of Allen Edmonds shoes seems to have diminished over the recent years. Why do I say this? Because without fail in the past four years purchasing three pairs of A&E shoes the construction or fit of one shoe in each pair has been substandard. Recently on a pair of Park Avenue shoes, the laces on one shoe nearly closed the vamp while the laced vamp on the other shoe formed a distinct "V". The shoes look like they were built by two different people. So, I now order two pairs of each model, and I keep the best shoes from each pair. Once I find a left and right shoe that look like they belong together, and fit properly (it's usually construction quality that suffers versus fit), then I have an excellent pair of shoes that often draw compliments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go To Shoe When my shoe-shine man said "Thank God - Cordovans," I knew i had been cheating myself for decades. This shoe shines so easily and brilliantly and feels so comfortable, that you know immediately why cordovans cost more. Quality. There is a risk though. Once you go cordovan, every other shoe feels a little cheap, even my AE, black, 'all-business' wing-tips. Sad but true. I own the Dalton Boots too. Waiting for AE to make another cordovan boot. In the meantime, I shine these bad boys when I wear pinstripes and red power tie.

    Matching belt

I purchased the dark chili Park Avenue cap-toes and a chili burnished calf wide dress belt, which I assume to be the closest match. The colors are similar but not exact. Is there a belt color that’s a closer match?
    Asked by: Ryan
Thank you for reachinig out to us. We would recommend the Manistee belt in Dark Chili.

Why are my new dull in sheen?

I was so excited to get a new pair of high quality shoes, did some research on line and liked the look of the Park Avenue Cap-Toe Oxfords. The shoes shown on your site have a shiny sheen to them. I was willing to pay up but when I opened the box the shoes had a matte sheen. Not classy, more casual. Is this normal or did I get a bad pair? I ordered through Nordstrom. I just want to make sure before making a decision. If this is the case, I will go back to Clarks or look elsewhere. Thanks
    Asked by: Tom
It sounds like you got the normal park avenue shoes, not the cordovan ones. The normal park avenues have a more matte finish.

I Have a 9.5D in the Park Ave. The length is fine but they are just too narrow to wear all day. Do you recommend a 10D or a 9.5E or EE?

My Bartletts, Hopkinsons, and Jeffersons are 10D's. The width is fine but might be just a bit long. Although I am happy overall with them.

Is the park avenue cap toe built on the same last as the byron

    Asked by: Anonymous
The Park Avenue is constructed on the 65 Last. The discontinued Byron was made on the 234 Last. 65 LAST Known more simply as the 5 last, the 65 last is our most popular, classic fitting last. The longest in length of all of our lasts; best for a long, narrow look; and often the best fit for those with high arches. Our best-selling Park Avenue is made on the 65 last. 234 LAST The 234 last was the first Allen Edmonds last with a non-rounded toe. The 234 last is modeled after the 97 last for the best fit for the average foot, but with a less pronounced point and subtly squared-off toe. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

How to restore toe cap color?

I have this shoe in Walnut. I stupidly tried to clean them without any thought of watching instructions as this is the first pair of nice shoes I have. I must've rubbed to hard on the top where it is slightly darker than the rest of the shoe, and now the dark color is rubbed off in a circular area exposing a lighter color. How can I darken that area again?
    Asked by: Anonymous
Use Allen Edmonds shoe cream and use a soft rag or horse hair shoe dober (sold by Allen Edmonds) and appy generously over the entire shoe. Let the polish dry for several minutes until it becomes a dry dull haze. Then take a horse hair brush and using a brisk motion shine the shoe until it has a bright brilliant finish. You may have to do this several times to get the color consistency back to it’s original condition. If that doesn’t work then try it again leaving the shoe polish on for longer periods of time. The longer you leave the polish on the shoe to dry, the longer it’ll take to get the polish to shine with a horsehair brush. Put a little elbow grease into it when you use your horse hair brush. Repeat as many times as necessary until your shoes look like their original color. This should work. You may also want to use Allen Edmonds leather cream and leave that on your shoes until it’s dried to a dull haze, then repeat the steps above. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Has the design shape of the Park Avenue shoe evolved over the years such that the toe is more rounded today and less pointed?

    Asked by: Anonymous
The 65 Last has not changed over the past 30+ years. However edge trimming on the soles has evolved over time and can affect the overall appears of the shoe. Also, in years past, we have used lasts with a more pointed toe shape, to make styles that were similar to the Park Avenue. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

    What belts go with this?

I would love to have dark chili color. Will Clay Ave Belt with 75136 Dark Chili goes well with his dark chili shoes?
    Asked by: Anonymous
I purchased a Fifth Avenue in dark chili with a Wide Basic belt in dark brown burnished calf (#39507). The colors match perfectly and the style of both the Clay Ave and the Wide Basic are very similar.
