STEP 1: Using a damp cloth or sponge, lather our Saddle Soap and apply onto leather to clean and restore its natural oils.

STEP 2: Moisturize the shoes with our Cream Polish to make them supple and soft, following instructions on the product.

STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

*For camo printed leather, simply rub our Leather Lotion onto print with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth as needed and wipe smudges or dirt away with a damp cloth.
    Fit

    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

Higgins Mill Boot with Chromexcel Leather is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 169.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I hated the tongue too Crazy that no one at Allen Edmonds seems to care to fix the issue that so many customers have complained about... I also hated the sliding tongue and found it necessary to return this product. Real shame. Also, I think these boots are grossly overpriced. Iron rangers are still the best men's boots out there.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's "The Tongue". As many reviewers have already written before me, the wiggly tongue issue is just ridiculous. Very uncomfortable to wear when the tongue slides all the way to the side. Had to return these boots. Does anyone at AE read customers' comments? Can't you fix this? It's a simple design problem. Otherwise, I really liked these boots. True to size and slightly roomy for thicker socks. I am not a big fan of Chromexcel leather, so it would be nice if there was a calfskin leather option and additional colours (black and chili would be great).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Returned because of the wondering tongue Loved the look and fit, hated the tongue that wouldn't stay in place! The tongue on the left boot would slide all the way down making it very uncomfortable to wear. Never had that happen with any other boots or shoes. C'mon Allen Edmonds, is it so hard to design a gusseted tongue or at least cut a slit for the laces?? Perhaps do away with the ridiculous suede leather and use the same leather as the upper?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Higgins Mill Boot - Great Boot Except For The Tongue I purchased these boots a little over a year ago. They are great boots - except for the tongue! The tongue on my right boot slides to the right... I cannot get it to stay in place. I don't have this issue with the left boot. This is extremely annoying for what is otherwise a great boot. This boot also fits true to size in my opinion. I have added orthotic insoles and they are extremely comfortable. These are factory seconds, but the only cosmetic issue I was able to find was that the stitching on the sole was a little crooked in one area. No big deal other than how it looks. But it's on the soles... so it doesn't matter. I'll probably have to cut a slot in the tongues and run the laces through it in order to keep the tongues in place. That should fix the issue. As for a comparison, I also have a pair of the Wolverine 1000 cordovan-colored cap toe boots. Both are Horween Chromexcel leather, but the Wolverine's feel a little thicker. However, they are not lined like the Higgins Mill is, so that may be why they feel different. The Higgins Mill is a heavier-built boot than the 1000 mile boot. The Dainite sole is thicker than the Wolverine's sole. So if you are comparing the two, I would characterize the Higgins Mill as being able to withstand more abuse and nasty wet/snowy weather than the Wolverines. I really like the Wolverines as well, but they have a more narrow fit than the Higgins Mill. They also run large, so I'm down a full size in the Wolverine's as compared to the Higgins Mill. For the money, IMO the Higgins Mill is a better value than the 1000 mile boot. However, I bought the Wolverines on sale at a very good discount, so I am happy with my purchase. Overall, the Higgins Mill Boot is a very well-made product, just like all of AE's products. However, the tongue is holding it back. If AE would fix this small issue, then it would be rock-solid.

My best friend wears a 16D - your shoe chart for fit goes to 16 but the drop down stops at 15; do you make a 16D?

He’s 6’7” and a medical professional and I love my Allen Edmonds shoes for all day comfort. I also think he’d really appreciate the quality as well
    Asked by: Gerry
Unfortunately, the Higgins Mill is not offered in a size 16.

Are the uppers and everything of the Higgins Mill Chromexcel boots(in brown or discontinued black) made in the USA?

I have a pair of the black chromexcel Higgins Mill boots. I love them! I've had them for roughly two years now and they look and feel fantastic. I wear them at home in Germany and when I travel to the USA for work. I posted about them on instagram. Someone else who owns a pair, in brown, said that the uppers are made in the Dominican Republic and then attached to the soles in the Wisconsin. This doesn't make sense to me because the inside of the boot says "Handcrafted in the USA." Also, chromexcel leather is imported leather that is awesomely treated by Horween in Chicago. I can't imagine AE buying this leather from 3 hours away, sending that to leather to the DR, having the sue the uppers and then send that leather back to WI. I think Horween sends the leather to WI and everything is made there. If it is the case that the uppers are made in DR, then I will just focus my hashtags to the welt construction and the comfort and leather, rather than include made in the USA. But, the boot says made in the USA. I think they are 100% stitched and assembled at your WI factory. Sorry for the long rant. I love the boots!
    Asked by: Thomas
We are so sorry for any confusion. The Higgine Mill is an American made shoe. The uppers are made using Horween Leather. The shoe is manufactured in Port Washington.

TYPE LEATHER AND CARE OF TONGUE? SUEDE, NUBUCK, ROUGH OUT LEATHER?

TONGUE LEATHER IS ROUGH AND NOT FINISHED LIKE THE REST OF SHOE. WHAT IS THE TYPE OF TONGUE LEATHER? HOW DO I CLEAN? CONDITION? AND WATERPROOF?
    Asked by: TOTORO
It's a non-gusseted tongue made of suede leather. Why suede? Nobody knows. With a non-gusseted suede tongue, I doubt these boots are anything-proof.

    Pre-Creased shoes

Hello, I purchased a pair of Higgins from an in store retailer. The shoes appear to already have creasing in the Vamp area. The toe area does not look as flat and smooth as it does in the picture on your website. There are a bunch of lines and it looks like the branch of a tree. Is this a normal occurrence in this type of leather, and something that happens with usage? I have never purchased AE shoes so I want to be sure they are not defective with loose grain or inferior quality.
