    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

    Ask & Answer
Acheson Tassel Dress Loafer is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from No pain, no gain? Big fan of AE - now approaching 60 pairs. When I first saw the calf version of the Acheson, I was pretty disappointed. It was a beautiful shoe no doubt, but so similar looking to the Grayson that I almost couldn't even recognize it as different. I already own a Grayson, Adams and Jermyn so I really couldn't justify another style this similar. Then the suede came along and changed things. This was a must-own. So why the 3 (would have been 3.5) star review? I'll explain. Typically you might think of suede like a sort of lightweight summery style, something that will take some mild wear and nothing else. Completely the opposite here. These are built like a tank AND they use the double sole. Unfortunately this also results in something that will need a LOT of break-in prior to becoming comfortable. I absolutely see the future potential, but a word of warning to readers - my first full-day wear of these left both of my heels rubbed absolutely raw and bleeding. I would take these slow to start and use heavy socks. I know they'll work out, but I haven't encountered this level of pain/break-in with almost any other shoe I can recall. I have had pairs that needed to be broken in, but nothing to this magnitude.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A beautiful loden suade loafer but wide in the heel for my narrow foot. I've been wearing AEs since 1979. I wear a "C" width so I had to order this loafer a half size up in a "B" since it is not available in a C. Unfortunately, the shoe was too wide in the heel so I exchanged them for the new navy Park Avenue. I already have a grey pair and a black pair. As always, I had excellent service on the exchange.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality control lacking I returned this shoe primarily because it did not fit properly. Specifically, the right shoe fit very loosely--unlike other AE shoes that I have purchased. Further, the finishing touches on the shoe: stitching and overall finish were sub standard. I even took the time to drive to an Allen Edmonds store to try on another pair of the same shoe. Regrettably, encountered the same lack of quality. Allen Edmonds needs to improve their quality control. I have noticed a certain "sloppiness" in the finishing details. Unless this is corrected, I will no longer be a customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice I have about 15 pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes. I must say this is the most comfortable pair of them all. I ordered the olive green first and after my first outing in them , l immediately ordered the snuff and then the black leather pair. I only wish these shoes are made in chocolate suede. I will definitely grab a pair. Bit pricey , but very comfortable and stylish. Nice with chinos , jeans and formal. I am pleased. All thanks to Alice Schaut at Allen Edmonds. Great service from her always.

Are the tassels leather or suede?

The AE picture shows leather tassels, however, the customer picture from Instagram shows suede tassels.

What is the difference between the Double Butyl Sole and the Single Oak Leather Sole?

    Asked by: Jimmy
The Double Oak Butyl sole is double the thickness of a standard Single Oak sole. It is also soaked in Butyl, a chemical in which some rubbers are derived from and known for its leak-proof qualities giving the leather sole a high resiliency to water. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
