STEP 3: Next condition the shoes with speed polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take the heel dressing applicator and press against the edge of the heels and soles.

    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and comfortable! I previously purchased these boots in brown and love them. Very comfortable and really a beautiful boot. I get compliments on them all the time. Liked hem so much I wanted a pair in black. Saw them go on clearence and bought them. Everything about them is quality! Comfortable right out of the box. Wish I could buy the other color as well. Look great in jeans or casual bussiness wear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Perhaps to be expected from 2nds Reviewing the Higgins Mill, Natural Chromexcel boot. I have this boot in shell and love it. So, thought I’d also like to have it in Natural chromexcel. When I got an e-mail from AE that it was available at the shoe bank, I jumped at the chance. Unfortunately, the product had leather with loose grain on the left boot. Right boot is perfect which looks funny when I wear them. So disappointed, but I love this boot style so much I kept them.

Is honey leather okay to use with the Higgins mill boots?

Wondering what the best products are to keep the boots protected and nice. I already have honey leather so wondering if that is a good product to use. Thanks!

The only care products we recommend using on Horween's Chromexcel leather is our Leather Lotion or Horween's Venetian Cream. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

What is the difference between color 7563 and 7563S Natural?

I believe the the only difference in that model# is the “S” signifies “second” (factory second) vs a first run product.

    Sizing

I wear a UK 6F for Loake boots and UK6D for Alden boots. Normally in my sports shoes I wear a US7. I got my feet measured by a brannock device and was told that I am a standard UK6D. Which size do you think would fit me the best? I won't be able to visit an Allen Edmond store and I will be leaving the US soon. So getting a correct fit would be pretty important. Please kindly advice the size that has the highest chance of fitting me the best.
    Asked by: Freddy
Assuming you haven't left the US yet...I typically take a 12E in AE shoes. AE recommended same for boots. However, 12E was a little too long (and wide.) 11.5 E was better. Note: I wear a thick-ish cotton sock with the boots (not dress sock). Hope that helps.

What color AE shoe polish and shoe cream should I use on my brown Higgins Mill boots?

There are about four shades of brown premium shoe polish that might work, and I can't tell which is a match. Thank you.
    Asked by: MysteriousTrousers
Polish is not recommended on this type of leather as it will not be effective. Chromexcel is heavily infused with oils and it's known to be "self-polishing". The appearance of most scuffs can be minimized by rubbing the leather with your fingers. The warmth helps redistribute the oils back into those areas. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Is the Higgins Mill Boot waterproof?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Chromexcel leather has a high oil content that provides great water resistance and acts as a conditioner throughout the life of the leather. However, while the leather can tolerate some splashes of water better than other leathers, the boots themselves are not designed or considered to be waterproof. We recommend taking a look at the Vancouver boots as they are part of our Weatherproof collection. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Will these boots work well for law enforcement purposes?

Are these boots up to the task of law enforcement such standing for over 10 hours?
    Asked by: Dave
The Higgins Mill, like most of our footwear, is handcrafted using our traditional welted construction during which we apply a layer of cork between the insole and outsole that allows the footbed to conform to the shape of your feet. This is what makes our shoes so comfortable. In addition to the cork, it features a PORON® layer that provides extra cushioning and shock absorption. With that said, fit preferences are unique to each individual and ultimately we recommend trying them on to see if they will be suitable for your specific needs. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

I love the look of the natural leather edging on the black Higgins Mill Boot , however, I require a totally black boot for uniform requirements.

Can I dye the edging black? What would be the best dye?

Preventing dark splotches after getting wet?

I understand that I should use leather lotion for care and that these are not the most heavy-duty all-weather boots but that the Chromexcel leather does have natural water-resistant properties. That said, first time I wore them was in a bit of wet grass. Initially water beaded on the surface but that didn't last long and soon there were dark splotches where water was absorbed. Later when the shoes dried out, several small dark spots remained on the toe. This pair is the "natural" color so the spots are more noticeable. If I add leather lotion, will it help reduce the readiness of the leather to absorb water? (I'm thinking no, because the shoes are already new). Will another product help accomplish this? (I read Neatsfoot Oil can be used with CXL leather because that's how it's finished in the factory). I don't plan to wear these in a downpour but I'd like to not have to fuss over a few drops of water.
    Asked by: ryan
There's a product called Greasy Leather Lotion offered by Saphir that is specific for 'stuffed' leathers like CXL. I apply it once every three months, and directly after drying when CXL has had any significant wet exposure. Completely protects them.
