  • Care

We believe a great pair of shoes or boots is always a solid long-term investment. To keep your favorite footwear in top form for years or even decades to comes, use our 4 Step Shoe Care Process and these essential products.

    1. Clean

Start by applying Saddle Soap with a Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth to remove stains and dirt from the uppers and bring up the leather's natural oils.

    2. Polish

Next, use a Horsehair Dauber to treat your footwear with Cream Polish which renews the color and luster of leather. Any time you want to achieve a truly glossy, high shine, you should instead apply Carnauba Wax Polish.

    3. Dress

Restore the color and surface of the leather on the heels and soles using Heel Dressing.

    4. Protect

Leather Lotion keeps uppers soft, supple and hydrated while a Horsehair Shine Brush is perfect for buffing your shoes to the desired shine. As a last step, spray on Water Protector to guard against harmful moisture and spills and use a Leather Dopp Kit to keep all your care products organized.

    Fit

    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

There is considerable feedback about the issue of early sole separation, has this been addressed/fixed?

The boots are beautiful, I would have already bought them had I not read so many reviews that stated the sole separates from the boot with little to no use - this is a serious concern. I have seen this to an extent on other AE shoes, so it resonates. I don't want to purchase these and then spend $100 recrafting them 3 months later - at this price point, the sole should remain intact for years of normal use.
    Asked by: Benjamin
I ordered mine in February 2021, and have worn them maybe a dozen times. Just today I noticed some of the sole on both heels, and one of the heels and stacked leather heels are separating. So, as of February 2021, the issue is not resolved

Have the quality issues been been fixed. The misalignment of the cap toe piece and the sole seperating from the back and the front?

    Asked by: RangerRick
Not sure off what quality issues you mean but I've not had any problems with misalligned caps or sole seperation problems with the pair I received.

I wear a size 11 in gym shoes..your size chart is recommending a size 10. What size to you recommend?

    Asked by: Anonymous
I recommend going to a shoe store and measuring your feet with a brannon device and order your size accordingly. Any quality American made shoe is going to fit smaller than gym shoes. The recommendation for 1 size down was spot on for me.

    Size EEE

I'm wondering why only widths D and EEE? More specifically, for my case, if a person normally wears an E with a cotton sock, is a EEE needed for a thick wool winter sock to match that winter sole? If each width increment is 3/16" in total girth, it seems jumping from E to EEE in anticipation of wearing a thick sock would be a mistake. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
    Asked by: SF
We would be happy to forward your feedback on our sizing options to the appropriate parties. We would recommend going with the size you normally wearing and judging the fit from there. If this is not an option, you should visit your nearest store to try a pair.
