  • Care

We believe a great pair of shoes or boots is always a solid long-term investment. To keep your favorite footwear in top form for years or even decades to comes, use our 4 Step Shoe Care Process and these essential products.

    1. Clean

Start by applying Saddle Soap with a Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth to remove stains and dirt from the uppers and bring up the leather's natural oils.

    2. Polish

Next, use a Horsehair Dauber to treat your footwear with Cream Polish which renews the color and luster of leather. Any time you want to achieve a truly glossy, high shine, you should instead apply Carnauba Wax Polish.

    3. Dress

Restore the color and surface of the leather on the heels and soles using Heel Dressing.

    4. Protect

Leather Lotion keeps uppers soft, supple and hydrated while a Horsehair Shine Brush is perfect for buffing your shoes to the desired shine. As a last step, spray on Water Protector to guard against harmful moisture and spills and use a Leather Dopp Kit to keep all your care products organized.

Alpine Cap-Toe Boot with Vibram Arctic Grip Rubber Sole is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All-Around Boot (for the sale price) I was hesitant to buy these because of the issues others reported in their reviews, but I took a chance because the sale price was just too good to pass up. After two weeks of wear, I can sincerely say I am 100% satisfied with my purchase. No QC issues found on my boots and I find them very comfortable. They look great with jeans and a tee or with chinos and a button down. Bottom line: If you can get these for $200 or less, I whole heartedly recommend them. Sizing: I wear an 11.5 in most athletic shoes, but some shoe brands run a little too narrow for me so I occasionally size up to a 12. For these boots, I chose size 11 D and they are a near perfect fit. Very comfy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great boot The boots were of excellent quality, fit perfectly, and required no break in period. We had a bad winter this year, and the soles worked as advertised. They were a much more stable platform for shoveling snow and walking the dog in the snow and ice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy, Stylish, No-Slip Dress Boots These are my first Allen Edmonds boots; and my third boots with Vibram Arctic Grip. Don't know if Vibram improved the technology since the first Arctic Grip Merrells I bought, but these Allen Edmonds Alpine Cap-Toe boots are significantly grippier and more stable on slippery ice than my two previous Arctic Grip boots. They're perfect for the kind of tricky black ice that you see at the very last moment; or on ice resulting from snow which thawed during the day, refroze overnight and is thawing again come morning producing a slick watery top on a crust of perfectly polished ice under the thawing water. They also held up really well on really hard-packed slick snow (the kind that different vehicles rolled on and packed and polished into a perfectly smooth slippery white substance). Although these boots won't replace spikes, they offer just enough traction to make it home without breaking a foot if you didn't bring crampons or spikes with you ; the Arctic Grip sandpaper-like substance dragging and scraping along the icy patches. The leather is so smooth and comfortable. Not break-in required. These things are like slippers. If I wasn't worried about ruining my carpetless floor with the Arctic Grip, I'd be tempted to wear these all the time. I tried them with khakis and with a suit for work; they work well with both outfits. Considering the style and colour, I suspect they'd fit really well with denim as well. I bought factory 2nds. The issues with mine were some imperfect stitching on one boot and a bit of an uneven cut of the leather on the cap toe. Nothing major. Sizing-wise, I usually wear 10.5D in all sneaker brands and 10D in most boots (Timberland, Wolverine, Thursday Boots, Dr. Martens). The Allen Edmonds 10D is a perfect fit. Snug but not tight; using either medium or thin merino wool socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely comfortable boots From the instant I put them on, I just wanted to walk. I am looking forward to see how they perform in winter conditions but I suspect they will do well.

There is considerable feedback about the issue of early sole separation, has this been addressed/fixed?

The boots are beautiful, I would have already bought them had I not read so many reviews that stated the sole separates from the boot with little to no use - this is a serious concern. I have seen this to an extent on other AE shoes, so it resonates. I don't want to purchase these and then spend $100 recrafting them 3 months later - at this price point, the sole should remain intact for years of normal use.
    Asked by: Benjamin
I ordered mine in February 2021, and have worn them maybe a dozen times. Just today I noticed some of the sole on both heels, and one of the heels and stacked leather heels are separating. So, as of February 2021, the issue is not resolved

I wear a size 11 in gym shoes..your size chart is recommending a size 10. What size to you recommend?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, we are unable to recommend sizes via this channel and guarantee a proper fit. We believe finding the right fit is vitally important, so we recommend a professional fitting by an Allen Edmonds associate at your nearest retail location: To find a store near you, please follow this link: https://www.allenedmonds.com/stores If that's not possible, we suggest trying the size you typically wear in dress shoes and judging the fit based on how comfortable you feel in the shoes. Size EEE

I'm wondering why only widths D and EEE? More specifically, for my case, if a person normally wears an E with a cotton sock, is a EEE needed for a thick wool winter sock to match that winter sole? If each width increment is 3/16" in total girth, it seems jumping from E to EEE in anticipation of wearing a thick sock would be a mistake. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
    Asked by: SF
We would be happy to forward your feedback on our sizing options to the appropriate parties. We would recommend going with the size you normally wearing and judging the fit from there. If this is not an option, you should visit your nearest store to try a pair.
