  • Care

We believe a great pair of shoes or boots is always a solid long-term investment. To keep your favorite footwear in top form for years or even decades to comes, use our 4 Step Shoe Care Process and these essential products.

    1. Clean

Start by applying Saddle Soap with a Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth to remove stains and dirt from the uppers and bring up the leather's natural oils.

    2. Polish

Next, use a Horsehair Dauber to treat your footwear with Cream Polish which renews the color and luster of leather. Any time you want to achieve a truly glossy, high shine, you should instead apply Carnauba Wax Polish.

    3. Dress

Restore the color and surface of the leather on the heels and soles using Heel Dressing.

    4. Protect

Leather Lotion keeps uppers soft, supple and hydrated while a Horsehair Shine Brush is perfect for buffing your shoes to the desired shine. As a last step, spray on Water Protector to guard against harmful moisture and spills and use a Leather Dopp Kit to keep all your care products organized.

Kenilworth Plain-Toe Blucher is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 146.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent shoe. Excellent shoe. Took one day to wear it in. Very comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My most comfortable pair of shoes I bought the Kenilworth Blucher in brown. The shoes were very stiff and break-in took a while. I applied a lot of mink oil and wore heavy socks, and wore them a few hours a day for a week or so. As others note, they did squeak at first. Once broken in, the shoes fit my feet like gloves. The leather of the sole provides support, but also comfort and flexibility as if I'm wearing slippers. I can wear these on concrete for long days, with better comfort than running shoes. Like all leather-soled shoes, they can be very slippery so caution is warranted if you're not used to them. I'm going for long-term comfort, and a natural patina'd look. I just use mink oil, and clear polish when needed, with a good brushing and shoe trees. I'll probably never have to buy another pair of brown shoes. Very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Military Man's Blucher By very definition, the Blucher is a military design. Allen Edmonds Kenilworth Plain-Toe Blucher is cleary crafted to appeal to the military man, and in this regard the cobblers in Port Washington excel. I wanted a shoe that combined the versitality of understated embellishment and long-wearing durability akin to the military low-quarters I enjoyed of decades ago. This Blucher exceeds my expectations. Dressed-up or dressed-down, day or night, anything short of formal wear where only an Oxford will do, this shoe can be paired with. Recommended to my brother officers, the Kenilworth Plain-Toe Blucher should be in every man's wardrobe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fine shoe and style.` I really like this shoe. Fits true to the sizes of my Allen Edmond collection. Give it a high wearability index: casual with khakis through sportsuits. 'Will look forward to AE adding walnut to the color scale so that I can order another pair.

What belt matches the brown color for this shoe? Is it the "coffee" color for belts?

I want to find a belt that matches this shoe in the brown color. There is no "brown" listed in belts--there is "coffee" in the wide basic belt. Is that the matching color?
    Asked by: MS
We would recommend the Stitch Avenue Belt in Coffee as a coordinating belt.

Is this a shoe you can wear with jeans or is it more designed to go with a suit?

    Asked by: Mike
The Kenilworth is considered to be a dress shoe because the lack or adornment and elongated silhouette makes it the perfect style for suits and tuxedos. However, as men’s fashion rules change, there is much more flexibility in how men dress and how one pairs their shoes with their attire. The Kenilworth can certainly be worn with dress/casual outfits, specially in the walnut leather because it tends to be a more versatile color. If you want to wear the walnut Kenilworth with jeans, consider coordinating it with the matching belt, a white dress shirt, and a charcoal blazer for example. Another way to wear it would be with dark wash jeans, a blue shirt, and khaki blazer. Ultimately, what each individual chooses to pair their Allen Edmonds with is their own decision; we encourage customers to wear what they feel most comfortable in. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

I see these are on clearance. If I were to buy a pair, would they be able to be recrafted in a decade?

    Asked by: Bret
Yes, the re-crafting service re-uses the existing uppers. Even with full re-crafting, the sole, heel & insole will all be replaced - the uppers will be reconditioned and re-finished/polished. This is what makes a Goodyear welted shoe such high value, it can be reconditioned either by AE or a quality cobbler.

Will this product line be renewed?

The plain Kenilworth shoe is fantastic in walnut and can go with so many styles. I want to order my second pair.
    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds. At this time there are no plans to reintroduce the Kenilworth into our current collection, and therefore it is limited to the sizes and width currently available online. However, we suggest checking out our Carlyle style which is a balmoral but also features a plain toe and it is offered in the walnut leather. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions. Allen Edmonds Customer Service

can I use an orthotic in these shoes?

can I use an orthotic in any shoes that are not labeled "orthotic". I tried a pair of park avenues and it didnt seem quite right-- heel was loose...
    Asked by: Randy
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds. The Kenilworth and Park Avenue styles were not manufactured with an orthotic fit in mind. We only manufacture a select number of styles with our removable footbed. As well, Allen Edmonds Replacement Orthotic Insoles are designed for a select number of styles which feature removable orthotics. You can find the complete Allen Edmonds Orthotic Collection of shoes by clicking here: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonline/cati2_Shoes_1_40000000001_-1_______130259_subcategory?. Keep in mind though, if the shoe is fit large enough, orthotic inserts can be used in almost any of our shoes. Depending on your foot shape and preferred fit, typically we recommend ordering a size up. The best way to get a proper fit with your orthotic inserts is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
