Lexington Cap-Toe Dress Shoes is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 98.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Beautiful, well-crafted shoe. Very happy with purchase!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Subpar quality from AE I have owned many pairs of AE's over the years (Park Avenues, Fifth Avenues, various boots, etc) and have always been impressed with the quality and craftsmanship. I figured I'd give something new a try and am disappointed I did. This seems like a shoe from a "value line" of theirs despite the $425 MSRP (full disclosure, I did not pay full price). I have been wearing for a few months now and the leather is extremely squeaky and stiff and does not polish up as nicely as my other AE shoes. My feet are sore after a day of wear and they have not molded to my feet like the others. Hopefully this is just a "value" model issue and not a sign of AE compromising on quality across all of their shoes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Shoes were different widths Left shoe fit great, right shoe was extremely tight. Loosened up the laces to where I can slip on and off shoes and that didn’t help. Don’t really wear them since they are uncomfortable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice shoe but sent back for bumps in footbed I really like the shoe and the overall materials and construction. I had to return this mail order because of a raised area under the ball/center forefoot of my left foot. I called customer service and asked if it would settle down with use, but they recommended a return because apparently they don't always settle out (and they don't accept returns if the shoe is worn). I have noticed this in some of their other shoes that I tried on in the AE stores as well. I think it is a major flaw in their manufacturing, because otherwise the shoe looked and felt great. What a waste of effort on making the shoe just for one flaw. I think they need a better way to prevent these irregular footbeds/lumps.

I usually wear out the sole of my shoe to the point of a hole because I am constantly on my feet. How durable is the sole of this shoe?

    Asked by: 332Kane
I own the Clifton, which is the same last as the Lexington. I purchased the pair a little over 2 years ago and I'm getting ready to send them in for a resole. However, near the beginning of when I bought it, I wore this pair to work everyday. In retrospect this was incorrect and I should've rotated them with other pairs for longevity. In conclusion, if I rotated my pair and wore them 3 times a week max, I'm guessing I wouldn't have to send them in for resoling for approximately 3 years.

    Where are your shoes made

I am trying to truly buy American. Can you tell me if your shoes in general and specifically the Lexington Cap Toe shoes are made in the United States. When I say made in the US I really mean it. Made, not stitched in another country and assembled in the US. When I say made in the US I mean from begining to end product. Please be completely honest in your response. Thank you
    Asked by: Len
Because we source leathers from the best tanneries around the world including France, Italy, Australia and the USA, we have to say “Handcrafted in the USA of fine imported leathers.” About 90% of the shoes we make are made in our Port Washington, Wisconsin facility. We do have a fully owned manufacturing center in the Dominican Republic where we make our very casual styles under the brand ae by Allen Edmonds. This is pointed out in our catalogs and website. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

We currently do not offer the Wide Basic Dress Belt in Bourbon. We recommend pairing the bourbon styles with the Manistee Dress Belt or the Dearborn Dress Belt which are both offered in Bourbon. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Is there a shoe similar to the Fifth Avenue in a blucher?

I tried on both the Park Avenue and the Fifth Avenue when I was in the US last year, and my normal size - 10B did not fit. The salesman claimed that since I have a high instep, there was a problem, and tried to sell me a 10E. this slipped off of my heel. When seeing the Lexington, I thought that perhaps this would solve my problem, but I really prefer the Fifth Avenue appearance. Also, I live outside of the US, and am only there in the US from January to March. Can I order now (shipped to a US address) to take advantage of the sale, and if it doesn't fit in January when I can finally try it on, then return it? Thank you.
    Asked by: emes
Fifth Avenue's blucher counterpart would be the Clifton. But I don't think AE makes those anymore.

I have noticed that there is no "c" width available on this shoe. If the fit guide recommends a C width, what size is likely to fit best?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds. The Lexington is manufactured on the 5-Last (65) which is the longest in length of our lasts, and best for a long, narrow foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit. However, keep in mind that each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. Also, if you find that you are in between sizes, the size or width you choose depends on individual preference on how snug or relaxed you want your Allen Edmonds shoes to fit. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, remember that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions. How do you recommend lacing this shoe?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds. The Lexington style is laced this way only for display purposes, however you can achieve a similar look by using the Bar Lacing method, also known as Straight or European lacing. This method starts at the bottom eyelets, and continues with both ends running straight up on the inside, each skipping one eyelet and emerging two eyelets higher up. If you require further assistance with the Bar lacing method, please feel free to contact our online customer service team at eservice@allenedmonds.com or 1-877-817-7615 (Mon-Fri 7:00AM-8PM CST). Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions. Allen Edmonds Customer Service
