Rated 5 out of 5 by jiggy955 from Pencil Horsehair Dauber Purchased a couple of these when they were on sale during the Winter Clearance. They are a lot easier to use than the normal sized daubers and as with all products of this type, their is a bit of bristle loss. Works well for getting into the smaller and irregular corners of the shoe and making sure that there is adequate coverage to protect the leather. Recommended for those that want to protect their investment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 2fingers from Pros and Cons This dauber has some Pros and Cons, such as when initially used I experienced some bristle losses but after a few usages, no problems (con). I think this would be considered a break in period and once pass this point the losses stopped. Con-2; if too much polish is in the bristles it causes streaks on a smooth surface making shining more effort than necessary. The up side of this or Pro is for $2 is does a great job reaching sole seams, hard to reach area such as the tongue area and oxford seams. I own numerous daubers and they seem to holdup pretty well and does a great job.

what is the difference between both daubers?
is there a reason one would need both kinds of daubers? or is one kind just good enough?
Personally, I use both sizes. I use the larger dauber for a large areas of the shoe and the pencil dauber for getting close to the welt as well as around the irregular seams of the shoe. I also use the pencil for the tongue of the shoe which is usually neglected by most folks when shining their shoes. I remove the laces, apply polish around the eye holes and all over the tongue.

Dimensions of the Pencil Horsehair Dauber
I can't tell if this thing is tiny, with a circumference like a pencil, or if it would make a good primary dauber. What is, say, the diameter of the brush part? Thanks.
It is quite a bit larger than a pencil but smaller than the normal round handled dauber. Great for getting polish in the detailed areas of the shoe and along the welt.

Does this item come with one or two brushes?
These are sold individually. You have to purchase two (2) if you need more than one.
