STEP 1: Using a damp cloth or sponge, lather our Saddle Soap and apply onto leather to clean and restore its natural oils.

STEP 2: Moisturize the shoes with our Cream Polish to make them supple and soft, following instructions on the product.

STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

*For camo printed leather, simply rub our Leather Lotion onto print with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth as needed and wipe smudges or dirt away with a damp cloth.
    Fit

    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

Tate Chelsea Boot is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great fit. Poor quality. I bought these boots two years ago and with occasional wear, the seams of the uppers have unstitched and the stretch fabric has warped. I’m a little surprised by the substandard quality for the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Very disappointed in the pair of boots I received. At the sale price for the shoes, they will made do, but they are definitely no where close to the value at full price. I had been meaning to give Allen Edmonds a try, though had been apprehensive due to hearing rumours of quality going down, so thought I'd give them a look during the sale. I personally believe that looking at the QC of lower end products of a brand will give you a good indicator of what the brand is like, as a brand that doesn't care about the customers for their lower end items will eventually cheap out even on their higher end items. The QC on the pair of boots I received was very disappointing. The materials and build itself was generally decent for the price, if it wasn't for the various QC issues. There was a significant crease running straight down the middle of the front upper of both boots. This was something I noticed mentioned by another reviewer, and makes me question if these were returned boots being resold as new. In addition, there was an area where there was a noticeable large glob of glue running along the edge of the leather beside the elastic portions, as well as a few long hanging threads that weren't trimmed. I don't expect top quality shoes at this price range, but I do expect there to be better quality control than this. These are obvious defects that even a cursory glance would've caught if they even looked before shipping. Being an international buyer, its not worth the effort to return these, esp when purchased at the sale price, and they are wearable, but it has definitely deterred me from further consideration of this brand for future purchases as I cannot trust the brand's quality at this point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Impressions - good boot at sale price Got these at an attractive sale price. Ordered the dark brown ones and received it in 4 days from date of order with a weekend in between so happy with the shipping. Boots arrived in the usual understated AE packaging with shoe bags. These boots are made in the US. Boots look good and feel great. Good leather. Fully lined inside. Light and comfortable. Overall quite satisfied with 2 days of wear. The profile is not as slim as a Chelsea due to the lug rubber soles which gives it a more casual rather than dressy look. I can live with that given the other features of the boot. And the rubber soles will come in handy over the winter. Once the current sole wears out, will resole with a slimmer profile sole.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Stitching fell apart; need to send to a cobbler I was excited when I first got them, especially for the price, but after one season use, the stitching around the opening (the area with the stretch material) came undone. Now I need to find a cobbler to get them re-stitched. This is my 8th pair of AE and by far the worst quality

Can this boot (Tate Chelsea) be made in 7.5 EEE?

    Asked by: Anonymous

My husband usually wears a 9 E in Allen Edmonds. I don't see this in E. Does that mean pick something else for his birthday?

    Asked by: Pidge
Unfortunately, the Tate is currently unavailable in E width.

Comparison of Henry XL and Vibram sole.

How does the Henry XL sole compare to its Vibram equivalent in terms of comfort and durability. My Sturgis boots have a Vibram sole with about 75 miles through them and have held up great, while remaining confortable. Would it be fair to expect the same level of performance out of the Henry XL? Devoted Allen Edmonds man. Keep the tradition going.
    Asked by: Karflo
I can’t tell you how long they last - I have not had them long. I have had vibram in the past and they lasted crazy long. But these are way softer much more comfortable. Not the same thing at all. For me atleast these are for walking around in the city or in the office. They give more on pavement. Vibrum for me atleast is for hiking on turf or trails. Hope this helps.

Is the Tate Chelsea boot waterproof, or does the water come in through the sides when you walk in the rain or in the snow?

    Asked by: Carson
Because it being a stretchable fabric there is a risk water will seep in if walking in heavy rain too long or large puddles. But if it's raining, I've never had any problems with water getting in the shoe.

    Any belt recommendation?

    Asked by: Angelo
Any calf belt in the color family will do, really. You want to match leather (browns with browns, blacks with blacks), but you don't need to really MATCH leather. Brown and mahogany and chestnut or walnut shades can work well together, adding a slight variety that makes you interesting, just like various fabric textures can compliment each other when worn together. You need only worry about "cut from the same cow" uniformity when you're marching in formation past the generals review stand.

I wear 9E Fifth Avenue dress shoes. What size of Tate Chelsea boots would fit me? What is your return policy? I am in Canada. Thanks.

    Asked by: Anonymous
Hello, neighbor! I don't have the 5th Ave. but I do have the corresponding Balmoral boot. I don't thinks they're made on the same last as the Tate but that's a question best answered by AE. I am usually a 14 US and 13 UK, and can wear some D shoes and some E shoes. I prefer an F fitting but occasionally can wear a G well even once broken in, so I believe my foot is considered to be only slightly wider than an average as I'm quite happy in an E fitting in boots. This Tate boot broke in to fit me very well and has become my go-to favorite for everyday! Hope that helps.

can i get a chase chelsae with leather soles or a combination rubber leather. I want a pair of black and brown

    Asked by: warren
It's refurbishable, so you may be able to get AE to do that at refurbishment cost, whatever that would be. But if you want a dressy Chelsea boot with a combination sole, they already offer the Liverpool Chelsea boot with a combo sole and it's also both comfortable and sharp looking. I bought two Liverpools: one pair in the light tan and a second tan pair to dye in a darker brown, because the shape and fit is just so dressy, you can pair it with a suit. (Save the Tate for jeans or khakis and a sportcoat.)
