Dalton Wingtip Dress Boots is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from The right boot after several tries I went to a brick and mortar store and purchase a pair of the Dalton in oxblood color. The store didn't have my size so the rep ordered them for me, in fact the rep order 2 pairs for me after I told him about the bad reviews I found online. The 2 pair of boots arrived 3 weeks later, one pair was clearly in no condition to be sold. The stitching along the welt was crocked, the sole was badly stitched to the uppers, one boot was darker than the other and to make matter worse the tongues were stitched in an angle that prevented the boots to be laced up close. Clearly a poor job of quality control. The second pair on the other hand had minor issues. The main issue was the tongues, they wouldn't stayed straight in place only after you laced them up after putting them on. I took both pairs back to the store and told the store manager that I liked the second pair and that I was okay with the tongues being the way they were, and then I asked him to put some day/nite soles for free to compensate for this defect. The manager agreed and told me that my boots will have to be sent back to the factory and that it'll take a few weeks before I could get them back. I agreed and the wait began. I received my boots 9 weeks later!, and to my surprise the boots were done nicely, no more issues. I read so many bad reviews about the Dalton boots, but to be honest I always wanted a pair of these boots that I was willing to try different times until I'd get the right pair. when you put these boots on, you feel like a boss and people notice them. I like refined chiseled elegant European boots, but these Allen Edmonds do just fine too. It takes some wears to break them in, but once the feet start to accommodate the boots become very comfortable. Allen Edmonds should do something about the QC issues, in some cases these boots are unacceptable to even be shipped out to customers, and it looks like nobody is taking responsibility to address the problem. Overall I'm happy with my boots, they are a great addition to my shoe collection.
