  • Care

We believe a great pair of shoes or boots is always a solid long-term investment. To keep your favorite footwear in top form for years or even decades to comes, use our 4 Step Shoe Care Process and these essential products.

    1. Clean

Start by applying Saddle Soap with a Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth to remove stains and dirt from the uppers and bring up the leather's natural oils.

    2. Polish

Next, use a Horsehair Dauber to treat your footwear with Cream Polish which renews the color and luster of leather. Any time you want to achieve a truly glossy, high shine, you should instead apply Carnauba Wax Polish.

    3. Dress

Restore the color and surface of the leather on the heels and soles using Heel Dressing.

    4. Protect

Leather Lotion keeps uppers soft, supple and hydrated while a Horsehair Shine Brush is perfect for buffing your shoes to the desired shine. As a last step, spray on Water Protector to guard against harmful moisture and spills and use a Leather Dopp Kit to keep all your care products organized.

    Fit

    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

Patton Cap-Toe Boot with Dainite Rubber Sole is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Kudu Boots This is my second pair of Kudu boots from AE with my first being a pair of Normandy boots. The boots I received are of high quality, and there were no flaws. The kudu leather is very soft which means little to no break in is required. The kudu leather on these has a matte finish. Kudu leather is not typically a good candidate for having a good shine. Because of the matte finish, they are a casual boot. The height of the boot is shorter than a Higgins Mill by about 1.25 to 1.5 inches. They are closer in height to a chukka boot. The color of the boots appears different depending on the light. In bright natural light, they can look like gray with a light brown hue to them. In indoor lighting, they look dark gray. In darker lighting they look black. Overall, very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Comfortable Boots Owing mostly to the soft leather used, along with the construction, these were the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. They have a casual look but contemporary, so they are easy to wear with jeans and khakis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boot/Shoe These shoes are very comfortable and very masculine. Looks great with jeans or casual pants. I always receive compliments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A comfortable, high-quality, well-made boot. I knew from wearing Higgins Mill that the 1757 last, in a B width, was a great fit for me. What I hadn't anticipated was how much I would enjoy the lower ankle height and supple kudu leather of the Patton (gray). This is a simple, casual, elegant boot. From the waxy laces to the cork inner soles it is attentive to detail, well made and comfortable. The Patton boot is now my go-to, default footwear -- an excellent purchase and tremendous value.

    Kudu leather

Who is the leather maker of this kudu leather? Is it Kudu calf from Horween or Kudu leather? Thanks

Kudu leather is the hide from an African-native species of Antelope named Kudu. We source kudu leather from different tanneries. Kudu leather is not from Horween tannery. -AE Consumer Care Dept.

    Polish & Care?

Do you really use BLACK cream & speed polish on gray Patton’s as indicated in your care guide. Won’t that darken them?

Patton Cap-Toe Boot: Country of manufacture?; 2) Grey vs "Grey-Brown"

    1) I am awaiting "two" pairs of this Patton Cap-toe boot, and have major anxiety now reading that these may be made in the Dominican Republic??? NOTHING good or well made comes from the Dominican Republic. With the little American flag in the upper left of the page, I thought these boots are made in Wisconsin "USA" like all/most Allen Edmonds. Please confirm, especially after reading about poor quality and mistakes. 2) One person asked if the "Grey" boot might in fact be "Grey-Brown", and you confirmed they are "Grey Brown", yet in your mailer for the sale, they are described as "Charcoal" which is NOT Grey-Brown. I may need to return these if in fact they are not "Charcoal". Please reconfirm - both of these issues are disconcerting, especially "quality" Allen Edmonds shoes being made in the Dominican Republic..."why"?
    Asked by: Teleman
I have a pair of the charcoal Patton. Mine were made in the USA. It’s a casual boot with a great texture. I would say that the charcoal color is a dark grey with a touch of brown. Personally, I feel that the hint of brown gives them a richer, warmer color that looks more like real leather than a pure grey would.

    Comparison with Hearst

If this is kudu leather, is Hearst on Chromexcel? Any plans to release this with speed hooks like Hearst and in that leather?
    Asked by: Prakash
