    Care Instructions

STEP 1: Using a damp cloth or sponge, lather our Saddle Soap and apply onto leather to clean and restore its natural oils.

STEP 2: Moisturize the shoes with our Cream Polish to make them supple and soft, following instructions on the product.

STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

*For camo printed leather, simply rub our Leather Lotion onto print with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth as needed and wipe smudges or dirt away with a damp cloth.

    Classic Fit

Most people consider a “classic” fit to be a “standard” fit. This fit more closely aligns with the natural shape of your feet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cornwallis Purchased this shoe with a offer from American Express, along with two belts and a pair of shoe trees. Little did I know the offer of $90.00 off would later be rejected because I had to return the shoes for a different width. I had to buy this shoe black and the cognac shoe three times to get the fit right. If you wear a size D width, I recommend getting E, and maybe sizing down a half size if you go with the wider E. This maybe my last purchase from AE, because the quality was depreciated, the customer service has declined, and they do not honor agreements any more....like the $90.00 one I spoke of earlier. If I had to buy the shoe three times to get the fit right, why did they reverse my offer? I’ve been buy AE for over +20 years and the past three years have been horrible.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beautiful quality shoe that isn’t comfortable This is a beautiful quality shoe but it simply isn’t comfortable. It ran a bit narrow on my online order. I returned it in store and was measured as a regular D but decided to try one size wider. The shoes arrived and the width is great but now the left outer top portion rubs and digs into my ankle just under the bone (the previous ones I tried on did not). I wanted to love them so I’ve walked all around the city with them over the past few weeks but no luck. They still rub and dig in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great comfort! I have narrow feet and need to buy shoes that fit properly. Allen Edmond shoes always fit perfectly and are so comfortable. Great product with excellent workmanship.

Can I get a size/width combination that is not orderable online

I would normally wear a 6 1/2 D in this shoe. However, with my new orthotics, I need a larger and wider shoe. A 7E is the right size, but not wide enough. The 7 1/2 E is the correct width, but the size is too large - my foot slips around too much. Ideally, I would try a size 7 2E and a size 7 3E, but neither size is available in the Cornwallis. Can I special order one or both of these sizes? If so, are they returnable if I guess wrong on the width? Thank you!

We apologize, at this time we do not offer custom orders for special sizes. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Does this shoe have (or offer) the traditional AE cork insole... or does it instead offer one of these newfangled synthetic anomalies??

What is the difference between the leather and rubber soles?

Comfort, recrafting, break in period, etc?
    Asked by: Jeff
My experience is that the rubber sole will last a lot longer than a leather sole. If you walk on concrete the rubber is an added benefit because it helps cushion your foot. I wear both and I prefer rubber soles.

    choice of sole options

Hello, I have several pairs of AE dress shoes. They all have leather soles. My questions is this: Do the rubber sole options tend to last longer? Why do people select rubber over leather? Thanks!, Steve
    Asked by: smconway
Yes. A dainite sole, while being a bit stiffer in the beginning, will almost certainly last longer than a leather sole if the shoe is regularly worn. This is especially true if you live in a rainy part of the world. Downsides include a longer breaking in period and a somewhat thicker sole. If you really like the elegant look of a leather sole, a dainite one might disappoint you.
