  • Care

We believe a great pair of shoes or boots is always a solid long-term investment. To keep your favorite footwear in top form for years or even decades to comes, use our 4 Step Shoe Care Process and these essential products.

    1. Clean

Start by applying Saddle Soap with a Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth to remove stains and dirt from the uppers and bring up the leather's natural oils.

    2. Polish

Next, use a Horsehair Dauber to treat your footwear with Cream Polish which renews the color and luster of leather. Any time you want to achieve a truly glossy, high shine, you should instead apply Carnauba Wax Polish.

    3. Dress

Restore the color and surface of the leather on the heels and soles using Heel Dressing.

    4. Protect

Leather Lotion keeps uppers soft, supple and hydrated while a Horsehair Shine Brush is perfect for buffing your shoes to the desired shine. As a last step, spray on Water Protector to guard against harmful moisture and spills and use a Leather Dopp Kit to keep all your care products organized.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dependable quality and fit Lost my head and tried another brand. Shoes arrived, late and ill-fitting. Recovered my head and ordered from Allen Edmonds. Shoes arrived quickly, fit was perfect as always and the quality is consistently excellent. I promise not to cheat again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely worth the price. Being my first pair of Allen Edmonds, initially I was a tad bit worried about the quality of the shoes on account of reading so many polarizing reviews on here but as soon as I received my order and opened the shoebox I was in complete awe. I was moved to tears at the sight of the sheer craftsmanship of the shoe, not only is the shoe durable but aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I'm extremely pleased with my shoes, I feel like I've just purchased a blue chip stock, I'm definitely going to order some more pairs. Allen Edmonds just earned a lifetime customer.

Is the Dark Chili color more oxblood or more brown?

    Asked by: Dallas

    Ventilated?

How well do these shoes breath? My current pair from a competitor make my feet sweat pretty bad.
    Asked by: Nicholas81
Calfskin is a naturally porous and breathable material, and the lining of our dress shoes is perforated for additional ventilation. That said, perspiration depends a lot on each individual's sensitivity, activities, and local weather. General recommendations are using moisture wicking socks and talcum powder as needed. Importantly, fine leather shoes should be rotated and never worn daily. We recommend rotating at least 3 pairs in the work week. We hope this helps!

Which of your shoes are most comfortable for walking all day...like for a doctor doing rounds.

    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for being an Allen Edmonds customer! Each style can fit differently based on the contours of your feet, so it’s difficult to recommend a size via email and guarantee a proper fit. Typically, we recommend trying the same size you usually wear and judging the fit based on how comfortable you feel in the shoes. If possible, we’d love to have you visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or one of our retail partners for a professional fitting. Our associates are trained to help you find the right fit for the various lasts and styles we offer. Also, keep in mind that products purchased on AllenEdmonds.com may be returned within 90 days, as long as the item is unworn and accompanied by the packing slip (we advise trying the shoes on a carpeted surface to keep them in returnable condition).

Is the McAllister in oxblood OK for Jeans and Casual wear? I wear my Walnut Strand cap toe with dress and casual. With the 65 last I am hoping for

the same great fit and comfort with the McAllister.
    Asked by: Sam
Certainly with a nice pair of slacks and sport shirt. I would consider them a little dressy for jeans but that's a very personal decision and I don't own any jeans! The fit is perfect and just like the first pair of McAllister's I bought 40 years ago!

Can you put a shoe heel/tap on a dainite sole? The heel of the shoe has a built in tap of sorts, but it isn’t preventing my heel from wearing.

    Asked by: Anonymous
When the heels are worn we recommend sending eligible styles to our Recrafting department for the 'New Heel' service. With that said, customers have added tap soles to their shoes through their own means, but that is a personal choice based on their own needs and preferences. Keep in mind, in some cases, prior work on Allen Edmonds shoes by other cobblers may prevent us from Recrafting a pair of shoes. We recommend contacting our Recrafting Customer Service team at 877-495-5564 for further assistance.
