STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

Most people consider a “classic” fit to be a “standard” fit. This fit more closely aligns with the natural shape of your feet.

    Ask & Answer
Strandmok Weatherproof Cap-Toe Oxford with Dainite Rubber Sole is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for In the past, I’ve always shied away from Allen Edmonds shoes because of their higher price point. But, the old adage is “you get what you pay for “ and it’s especially true here. The quality of the shoe is obvious on first look. The feel of the leather, the workmanship and the details, even the smell of the product, exudes first rate materials and workmanship. After receiving the shoes I realize that they are on par with much more expensive shoes from Europe, and frankly they have made a customer for life-excellent shoes! I’ll be back!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Clownish and won't take a polish. These shoes look okay at first but the sole/welt is substantially wider than the body of the shoe so they look clownish because they make your feet look way bigger than my other AE shoes. These come distressed and when you scuff them up you can not polish them and that may be the way they were designed but I would way rather own a nice pair of Mcallister's which are way more versatile and polish beautifully. These are strictly jeans shoes. I wore these for a year before I grew to hate them, they went to the salvation army. I consider these the worst shoe choice I ever made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best AE shoe yet This is my 6th pair of AE. These definitely stand out as the most comfortable out of all of them. This particular Strandmok is so versatile. Dress it up or down. But I especially love them with a nice pair of jeans. I sometimes even wear them to take my dog for long walks - this level of comfort is unheard of in most nice leather shoes. My next shoe purchases will definitely be the rest of the Strandmok line.

Does this shoe have a removeable orthotic?

I have a customized orthotic I must wear in my shoes. Does this shoe accomodate custom orthotics? AE used to have an entire line of extra-depth shoes designed for custom orthotics. Does that still exist?
    Asked by: Ace
This shoe does not have a removable insole. However, I too require custom orthotics and have been able to use them in other models built on the 65 last (which is the Strandmok’s last). For me, it required going up a size in width. I own several pairs of AEs, including the Voyager (with removable insoles) and the Fifth Avenue (without removable insoles but built on the 65 last). Wearing orthotics with a non-removable insole does require a degree of personal calibration between my orthotics (which I did in tandem with my podiatrist’s office) and the shoe but once I had my orthotic, I was able to work with the store manager at an AE shop to try on different sizes in a standard last (the 65), that would accommodate my orthotic. If you require an orthotic, I would recommend trying on the shoes in-store (mindful of pandemic safety precautions). As the 65 is one of AES most common lasts, once you have the size/fit for one 65 model, you pretty much have a template for the others.

Does the leather have GoreTex on it?

Does the leather have GoreTex on it? If not, what waterproofing material is in the leather? Thanks!!!
    Asked by: John
They do not have GoreTex. While we cannot share the details of our suppliers, the shoes feature several components that make it Weatherpoof. Thank you for your question!

Does this "Weatherproof" mean it can be fully immersed in water?

In terms of color, how does this weather proof 3285 (Tan Grain with Olive sole) compare to 5552 (Cognac with Red sold)?
    Asked by: Tom
Weatherproof means it's resistant to the effects of weather, including rain or snow. It does not mean it can be fully submerged in water. The style #3285 in Tan is darker than the style #5552 in Cognac. Thank you for your questions!

To polish or not to polish

Under the "care" instructions for this shoe, it says to use the regular, 5-step polishing regime for other AE dress shoes, including applying two different kinds of shoe polish. But the Q&A seems to suggest you can't use polish. Which is it?
    Asked by: RW
We're so sorry for the confusion that has occurred. The Strandmok Weatherproof style can be polished and we recommend following the instructions in the 'Care' tab on the description. Thank you for your question!

    Toe scuffs

What's the best product to use to help get rid of toe scuffs on this waterproof model? Thank you!
    Asked by: Scottz
We would recommend using cream polish. Cream polish renews color, covers scratches, and moisturizes. -AE Consumer Care Dept.

These have me intrigued...but also very confused. I typically wear my two pairs of the CXL Strandmoks or my brown grain Kiowas (essentially a Strandmok) in the rain, due to the water resistance of the CXL or grain plus the rubber soles. What exactly does the new Strandmok do to protect against the elements better than the older models. There is extra lining, in addition to the poron padding? Is the outsole different? It still appears as though there is no dedicated channel for the stitching (hence the stitching makes contact with the ground when walking). Danite is still being used. Is the leather used on the upper completely different grain leather this time? Would appreciate some clarification, thanks very much.

The Weatherproof Strandmok is made using German waterproof leather. The welt itself is the 360 Storm welt. This offers a sealed seam. Finally, it includes weatherproof lining as well as a Dainite sole for traction.

Due to weather proof lining, will these shoes not overheat my feet.

I would like to know if these shoes breath as well as a standard Strand.
    Asked by: Anonymous
The weatherproof Strandmok is made to be breathable while maintaining weatherproof status.
