STEP 1: Using a damp cloth or sponge, lather our Saddle Soap and apply onto leather to clean and restore its natural oils.

STEP 2: Moisturize the shoes with our Cream Polish to make them supple and soft, following instructions on the product.

STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

*For camo printed leather, simply rub our Leather Lotion onto print with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth as needed and wipe smudges or dirt away with a damp cloth.

    Relaxed Fit

Most people consider a “classic” fit to be a “standard” fit. This fit more closely aligns with the natural shape of your feet.

    Ask & Answer
Normandy Cap-Toe Boot is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magnificent I ordered these in the same size I wear in the Strand, the Park Avenue and the McAllister. These boots do run a bit large and wide, but the sizing ended up being perfect as I am wearing these boots with thicker athletic socks and the large sizing is taken up by the thicker socks. These boots would be a bit loose if I wore them with the Allen Edmonds wool dress socks that I normally wear with my AE dress shoes. I bought the boots in tan, and they are much darker than the color shown in the pictures. They are a medium brown, not tan. I would describe these as just about being the same color as a basketball. The quality of these boots is outstanding. I couldn't find a flaw in the construction, stitching, or leather quality. The grain of the leather was consistent in both the left and the right boot. The Horween leather is incredibly soft. I've worn these boots now on two occasions, and they didn't need a break-in period. They were incredibly comfortable from the first try on. I plan on using these boots as mainly work boots. I'm using these boots when doing carpentry projects in the garage and for when working in the yard, mowing the lawn, edging, etc. I think these boots are too nice to do jobs such as fixing an irrigation leak and working in wet mud and water. These boots are replacing a 20 year old pair of Red Wings which I would use for these kind of jobs so that I don't ruin my new pair of Allen Edmonds Normandy boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots, dark brown The color is a lot darker than the images on the website would lead you to believe, but the leather is buttery soft. I have another pair of these in the Taupe Suede so I knew what I was getting into for the most part. These aren't really work boots, the leather isn't a super-hard wearing type that you find in work boots, but they are great looking comfortable boots. I wear mine with jeans and casual pants, sometimes in my shop or to work when a safety boot isn't needed. They come with shoe bags, two types of laces, and a nice sturdy box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value: Looks and endures like a boot, house slipper comfort at reasonable cost AE paid attention to design and details. The boot is unlined and runs at least a 1/2 size large and even up to full size depending on your preference to socks and fit. Not uncommon for quality boots. Pairs best with chinos, jeans or more rustic flannel grey pants. They are so darn soft and comfortable, like home slippers, yet are rugged, provide great support and look good too. Therefore, they have become a “go to” boot on weekends or office casual days or if a lot of walking and standing will be done. The boots have aged extremely well. Have quite a few boots to compare them to like Wolverine 1000 Mile, Frye Made in the USA, Magnanni, Danner and Crockett &Jones. The Normandy is as good or better except for the CJ’s (different price point too). AE makes excellent Goodyear welted boots that provide a lot of long term value even at full price. Very satisfied customer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could have been better I honestly quite like the boots but have to give it a critical review at these prices. First, the US site has a price significantly cheaper than the Canadian with exchange considered, by about $50 which leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I considered getting a US address but the hassle was not worth it. So there's that. Shipping was pricey, again, about another $50. They did do an excellent job packaging with it being a box inside another. Finally, the boots. I immediately noticed that the sanding along the edge of the sole left a bump, as if he lifted off too early. Also, the tongue has some dried stain. Appears to have something to do with the white stamping inside leaving a significant blemish. All in, I paid nearly $600CDN with all the taxes and shipping, I am going to expect perfection or close to it. I do like these boots despite everything. They fit really good. The materials and overall build is high quality. I love the design. It almost balances a fine line between the strictly blue collar Iron Ranger and more svelte boots that look dressy. I look forward to many years, maybe decades, of use.

Should I get the same size for the Normandy Cap-Toe Boot as I would on the Strand Cap-toe Oxford?

I have tried on the Strand Cap-toe Oxford in your store and ended up fitting perfect in 8.5 3E. If I like to order the Normandy Cap-Toe Boot on line without trying on, can I safely get the same size 8.5 3E? I understand the boot hav a "Relaxed Fit, slightly roomy feel" witch I expect from a boot.
    Asked by: JKM
Each style can fit differently based on the contours of your feet, so it’s difficult to recommend a size via email and guarantee a proper fit. Typically, we recommend trying the same size you usually wear and judging the fit based on how comfortable you feel in the shoes. If possible, we’d love to have you visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or one of our retail partners for a professional fitting. Our associates are trained to help you find the right fit for the various lasts and styles we offer. Also, keep in mind that products purchased on AllenEdmonds.com may be returned within 90 days, as long as the item is unworn and accompanied by the packing slip (we advise trying the shoes on a carpeted surface to keep them in returnable condition).

    What polish should I use?

I just purchased these and used a neutral kiwi polish and rubbed in like with any other pair of AE shoes or boots, but this more textured leather just holds onto much of the polish even after drying. As much as I brush, it now looks like my boots have dandruff except for the cap toe and parts of the heel where the leather is smooth. Any recommendations?
    Asked by: Devin
Stay away from the petroleum based solvent polish and silicone based conditioners. Look into the Saphir line of shoe care products by going to the Hanger Project web site for information like videos, etc. of these products and to purchase. Get a quality pig bristle shoe/boot brush for the textured leather to help buff and remove polish. The Saphir Product May look expensive, but like quality face creams, lotions, etc. they go along way and are superior in conditioning quality leather footwear. If you spend $400 on a good pair of shoes/boots you will want them to last. The cost of a Saphir cream polish and leather conditioner will be about 10% the cost of the boots or shoes. Consider it a good investment.

Should I size down when buying this shoe.

I have seen on reviews were a lot of people recommend sizing down on this boot before I make a purchase should I do a size down I am a 10 and a 1/2 and 1 of my feet is slightly smaller than the other
    Asked by: Robert
These boots reminded me when I use to wear "jump boots" in the military (they are almost exactly the same), so I remember needing foot pads. Please do your knees and feet a favor and buy in your regular size, so you can add foot pads with arch support.

Is this new Normandy boot still made from Kudu?

I have the older Normandy in brown kudu and double leather oak sole. This new one (830x) says it's weatherproof, and it look like there's a sheen to them. Is it still made from Kudu? If not, what kind of leather is it? Safe to wear these in a steady rain? Do you recommend using the new weatherproofing spray on these?
    Asked by: Ducatisti
I don’t think they are waterproof. I have the dark ones and have sprayed them several times with leather waterproofing spray.
