Hamilton Cap-Toe Oxford Dress Boot is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Uncomfortable soles I own a pair of Mackenzie whole cuts that I love. I wanted a pair of boots. These are gorgeous boots and I thought the quality of construction was pretty good. Unfortunately, they are just very uncomfortable on my feet. Now, I fully recognize this might just be a personal fit issue. I thought that they would get better with some break in time, but that was not the case. Now I cannot return them. I ordered the same size as my Mackenzies because that is what the person I spoke to on the phone recommended. There is not a retailer near me otherwise I would have tried them on first. My recommendation is to try them on if you can or trust your first instinct on your home try on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality control and customer service In the past I have purchased numerous Allen Edmonds shoes and boots. Due to financial constraints, and because I visit Brookfield usually once a year, I have mainly purchased seconds. Although a few times the blemishes were noticeable I have always been pretty much satisfied. After seeing this boot I really wanted it and I decided I would just get it NEW on the sale at the time. When I received my first set the insert was crooked inside one of the shoes. Having had problems with plantar fasciitis before I returned the shoes. I did not hear anything for a while so I called up customer service. I was told that the shoes go to the warehouse and they have no way of reordering the shoe and I had to go through the ordering process one more time. I thought that was kind of unusual and a hassle considering I brought the boot because I wanted it: I just did not want a defective boot. So I went through the process again and then received a new set of boots. I noticed right away there was a little bit of a divot on the heel where someone was a little overzealous. Since it was such a small blemish and I really wanted the boots to wear I decided to overlook it. I did call, however, because the tongue was stitched on one side for both the boots. The person I talked to at the Brookfield outlet store (it was a Saturday) was not sure if that was normal but checked several other boots and felt that this was normal. I then inquired as to how I should prepare the shoes before I wear them. They suggested just the polish which I did with brown polish. I then wore the boots around the house for an afternoon and found him quite comfortable and was overall satisfied. I took the shoes out for an evening engagement several days later and, it must of been the light, but then I noticed that there was a dimple on the right shoe anteriorly. This was not acceptable because I realize that this would become more noticeable with wear. Therefore I called up and I gave this story of wo to the customer service representative who then informed me that I would have to send it in and they would decide whether to repair it or give me a store credit. I told her I found this was unreasonable considering this is now the second time I am returning these. She said there was nothing she could do that that was their policy. Or I told her that there is something I could do and that is not to buy another new pair of Allen Edmonds. I attempted to buy a new quality pair and was given seconds both times. I am not sure what I will do with this pair at this point but I am very disappointed. Both the quality control and customer service has been subpar to say the least. I have also spent way too much of my own precious time on this matter. And is it asking too much to be able to download a photo?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite boot ever I have another pair, usually, it takes a week for my feet to adapt to a new shoe since I am flat-footed. Not with Allen Edmonds. Wearing this for the first time was like I always had this pair. It was very comfortable and didn't need to break them in. AE shoes are true to their size. The quality of the leather is amazing. I just wish their heels were stacked leather also, nonetheless this fiber-based heel is pretty durable. Overall I would highly recommend these boots. Yes, I would recommend this product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful but dressy This is a gorgeous boot, and I would highly recommend it as a dress boot. It definitely is a dress boot rather than a dress-casual boot, more so than the picture demonstrates. I thought the tumbled leather would make it casual enough to wear with khakis, but the Balmoral style is quite fancy in person and didn't quite complement my khaki/sportshirt work wear. As such, I returned these for the Stirling boot (perfect!) but felt a little sad when I did because this is one standout boot.
