    Care Instructions

STEP 1: Using a damp cloth or sponge, lather our Saddle Soap and apply onto leather to clean and restore its natural oils.

STEP 2: Moisturize the shoes with our Cream Polish to make them supple and soft, following instructions on the product.

STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

*For camo printed leather, simply rub our Leather Lotion onto print with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth as needed and wipe smudges or dirt away with a damp cloth.

    Relaxed Fit

Most people consider a “classic” fit to be a “standard” fit. This fit more closely aligns with the natural shape of your feet.

    Ask & Answer
Alpine Cap-Toe Boot with Vibram Arctic Grip Rubber Sole is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from I Wanted This Boot - But Had to Return After two different pair of these boots had quality problems, I finally just returned them for a refund. The cap toe sewing on both pair was crooked and looked terrible. I would've tried for a third pair, but I wanted them for an upcoming trip, and as AE no longer offers 2-day shipping, they wouldn't be here in time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around boot. Great boot, with great tread for the winter months. Run a full size smaller than traditional AE dress shoes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent but not what I expected This is my first purchase from Allen Edmonds and I chose this company specifically because of the positive reviews on YouTube. However, the quality of the Alpine boot did not blow me away like I expected and it CERTAINLY is not worth full price. Negatives: There were several finishing issues that I did not expect from a boot in this price range. There were lose threads at the ends of the stitching (no structural issues but simply an eye sore). The stitching on the tongue of each boot is not uniform and very crooked. The layers of the heel are not sanded down to be even with each other. The leather has a few small light-colored imperfections on the side of the bot. The Vibram sole is great (see positives), however, it is not an available option from the recrafting services. The packaging for a boot in this price range is EXTREMELY cheap and not up to par with other companies at lower prices. Positives: The Vibram sole is very grippy in slick conditions and yet is minimal enough to look slightly dressy. The leather is soft and very flexible, however, It maintains its shape with minimal creasing. The shoe was pretty comfortable out of the box and continues to become more comfortable as the cork bed molds to my foot. Laces are sturdy and have not frayed. Stormwelt keeps my feet dry and yet is not too stiff to make it uncomfortable to walk for long distances. If you're interested in purchasing the Alpine boot I would strongly recommend you select one at a store in person. That way you can be sure to not get a pair with quality control issues. At a discounted price, the value is fair. However, I'd be curious to see what other companies offer at cheaper prices. The quality control issues make me hesitant to order online from Allen Edmonds again; especially if I'm paying full price. I will be wearing this boot throughout the winter and will check back in during the spring to post about how it held up in the snow, slush, salt, etc.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Boot is not as pictured on site Ordered this boot looking for a waterproof, winter boot. The description sold me and I liked the color of the leather on the website. The toe on this boot is stained darker than the rest of the boot's leather but you can't see that fact on the site. In real life, the staining looks contrived and the true color is not rich but more like a bar of milk chocolate. Like all AE boots the fit, on my feet, is very comfortable. I normally wear a size 10D in AE boots but upsized by .5 to enable wearing thick wool socks. The fit is very good. This pair feels particularly lightweight so I don't know how warm they will be in freezing temps. I like the soles and they make excellent ground contact. No icy sidewalks to test on yet, however, they feel quite "grabby" on floors and even squeak a little when contacting smooth surfaces. So, my jury is still out. Not happy with the finish but the boot shows promise for traction. I bought them on sale so I guess I'll keep them and see how they perform in snow and wet.

    Size EEE

I'm wondering why only widths D and EEE? More specifically, for my case, if a person normally wears an E with a cotton sock, is a EEE needed for a thick wool winter sock to match that winter sole? If each width increment is 3/16" in total girth, it seems jumping from E to EEE in anticipation of wearing a thick sock would be a mistake. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

We would be happy to forward your feedback on our sizing options to the appropriate parties. We would recommend going with the size you normally wearing and judging the fit from there. If this is not an option, you should visit your nearest store to try a pair.

What color of edge dressing do you recommend for this boot? It has a black rubber sole that is visible all around the edge but the heel is brown.

I see the full size chart displayed for this boot. Can I order it in a 14 A at the sale price? I don't mind waiting if it is temporarily out of stock.

    Asked by: Doug28270
We do not currently carry the 14A Alpine boot at this times. We are so sorry for any disappointment.

Wondering if the outsole is soft/squishy/lightweight like that used on the Ace, Tupelo and Long Branch or is it more like the older mini-lug (closer to the It's Hide or what is used on the Surreys & Rainier, harder and more rigid). Thanks!
    Asked by: Anonymous
Hello, Thank you for your inquiry! The outsole on the Alpine Cap-Toe boot does not have a lightweight sole. However, the sole provides All-season comfort and stability. -AE Consumer Care Dept.
