Dalton Weatherproof Wingtip Dress Boots with Dainite Rubber Sole is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design These boots were initially one of my favorites of the several pairs of Dalton's I own. However the weatherproof status seems to mean that it's very hard to get the interior dry. I treated them the same way I do my others Allen Edmond shoes and boots however even using shoe trees and alternating days of ware these shoes still developed mold on the inside. This is a problem I have not had with any other shoes and am very disappointed in this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boot! So far, very happy. Got these during rediscover America sale, so for the price, they were a great deal! I wear a 13B in all AE’s, and it fit true to size. Can wear with dress socks, or even slightly thicker wool socks (probably not thick hiking socks though). Color is darker, but kind of reminiscent of the old Dark Chocolate color AE used to have. Love the right out of the box comfort of the poron insole (AE, please do more of this!), and the leather is pretty soft for being new, compared to other AE’s. The reason for 4/5 on quality, is there was some stitching on the upper that was not 100% aligned, and the dainite sole wasn’t sewed on quite right... the stitching went over one of the grooves on the sole, because it wasn’t aligned correctly when put sewed on. Doesn’t affect comfort when wearing, so I kept them. Haven’t tested them in inclement weather yet, but hope they hold up well, as they’re weatherproof. However, so far, one week in, really happy with the purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not weatherproof, and not the same quality as AE boots from prior years I've been purchasing Allen Edmonds shoes for over 15 years, and to date, I have bought about 20 pairs of shoes and boots from AE. I do not like to leave negative reviews of a product in a publicly accessible forum, but I previously contacted customer service with my concerns, and they had no suggested remedies for me. I was greatly looking forward to this pair of Dalton Weatherproof Wingtip Dress Boots with Dainite Rubber Sole in size 13AA. I have narrow feet, and finding shoes of any type, and especially boots, in narrow widths of A, 2A, or B is extremely difficult. Allen Edmonds is one of the few manufacturers that still makes shoes in narrow width lasts. Unfortunately, after over a month of trying these Dalton Weatherproof Wingtip Dress Boots out, I am quite disappointed with their performance and fit. I purchased them specifically for two reasons: they were supposed to be "weatherproof," implying they have some water resistance, and two, they were available in a size 13AA, which is a great fit me. These boots are not weatherproof at all. Even after applying additional wax-based (Nikwax) waterproofing before wearing them in rainy weather, the leather was completely soaked and saturated after about 15 minutes of waiting at a rainy bus stop, leaving me with wet feet to deal with for a full workday. I don't expect dress boots to repel water like fishing waders, but I'd expect anything sold as "weatherproof" to be able to withstand a 15-minute-long bout of rainfall without getting saturated. Second, the fit is off. The midfoot and heel area is way too wide for a AA last. The forefoot and toebox area fits like a AA last, but the midfoot and heel area has much more room and sloppiness than would be expected. It's as though the rearward half of the boot was built on a D width last, not a AA. In comparison, I have two pairs of the Allen Edmonds Chelsea boots in B width, and both fit much more snugly through the arch and heel than these supposedly AA width Dalton boots. I was really looking forward to the Dalton Weatherproof boots, but I feel the pair I received does not match the quality and fit of the other Allen Edmonds shoes and boots I have enjoyed over the past many years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Last Pair I've had a few different boots from Allen Edmunds and these are my last pair. After 4 Months with wearing a time or two a week the soles are worn down to nothing. While the fit was good day one the leather has stretched out in the sides making them very loose.

What color of edge dressing would someone use on this boot - brown or black?

    Asked by: Shaun7
The dressing is a very dark brown on the boot from Allen Edmonds. There's some variation in the color especially against the black of the rubber sole but it's not really noticeable.

I wear a 13 in Strand & Fifth Avenues, but a 12 in my Cavanaughs. Which shoe would this be more similar to?

    Asked by: James
I wear 13B in strand, park avenue, Long Branch, Dundee, and Daltons, so I’d go with similar size if you’re on the fence. I only have bought shoes on the 5 last and the 511 last though, so not sure on the Cavanaugh last.

Is that possible we make it in leather sole

    Asked by: Naveen
Hello, Thank you for inquiry! Unfortunately, we are unable to make the Dalton Weatherproof wingtip boot with a leather sole. Keep in mind that the dainite sole is made for all weather types which helps make this boot weather proof. -AE Consumer Care Dept.
