    Care Instructions

STEP 1: Thoroughly remove stains using our Suede and Nubuck Cleaning System, following the instructions on the box.

STEP 2: Take our Heel Dressing applicator and press against the edge of the heels and soles.

STEP 3: Once the material has dried, spray our Water Protector over the surface of the shoes and let dry.

    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

Normandy Suede Cap-Toe Boot is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from nice leather but poor quality The leather is beautiful if floppy. It is comfortable. But the sole quality is terrible. The sole is worn down to the leather after just a few uses. The plastic covering is very thin and very poor quality to be worn out already. What happened to AE quality? Not the same company.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A few problems, but can be fixed The leather of the gray kudu suede is awesome, very soft and comfortable, definitely not for work though, just looks. The lug sole squeaks a lot on some surfaces, a good example would be the floor in Target. My biggest problem was that the cap toe area was collapsed, dents all over and can feel it pressing on my toes, it’s not to bad because you can’t really tell. Another problem was that the right shoe, the pieces of leather them selfs are not stitched in the right place, so when I tie my shoes it’s not symmetrical, minor problem though. Main thing being the collapsed toe and noisy soles. What I recommend (if the upper turned out alright) is to just get them resoled as soon as possible, the rubber sole isn’t that durable so it should not take long. Just keep in mind these are problems I can fix with a good cobbler, these are factory seconds for a reason.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy Normandy - Not typical AE quality I have had 30 pairs of AE shoes over the past 20 years; Many still in flannel bags awaiting the return of tassels and burgundy to be fashionable again. Others recrafted numerous times and holding tough. These boots are not AE's typical execution. I wore the boots for an hour and the heel cap fell off in my car. I got out and wondered why my foot felt strange, looked down and saw part of the heel missing. Found it laying on the floor mat. No pressure. No duress. Just garbage execution. I should have known as I saw it in other reviews and ignored it because of all of my past positive experiences. Mine were sent back. I understand from the CSR that I am not alone and that the style will be dropped.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective with Poor Customer support Ordered a size larger than I normally would. Part of the right shoe digs into the top of my foot. Bruising occurs from this if I wear them for more than an hour. Gave it a week because leather products sometimes need time to break in. After a week, the problem persists. I cannot get an exchange because they are worn. Customer support was really unhelpful. They want me to pay for shipping and handling, duties and taxes, to send it to their HQ for inspection. If they deem them non-defective, they will ship back on my dime. This round trip will cost me almost as much as the boots themselves (around $320). If they are found to be defective, I will be refunded the shipping and will be sent a replacement pair. This is would be perfect, however, I do not have confidence that they will agree. They already told me on the phone it sounds like a sizing issue, even though the left boot fits comfortably. They said this is because I have different sized feet. I have never had an issue with any pair of shoes in my life where one foot is bigger than the other. These attempts at blaming me for their poor construction make me ambivalent to ship it to them for inspection. I am positive they are defective, but ~$320 is too risky to lose when they are already pushing back with my complaint. As a last ditch effort, I wrapped my shoe tree in three layers of thick wool socks and left them inside the defective boot for two weeks to help stretch them out. Now the boot is loose and floppy, yet the defective area still digs into my foot (not as bad but still uncomfortable to wear for more than 15 minutes). Such a shame, as the boots are really beautiful. I take great care of my leather products. Clean, condition and lotion them regularly. I really wanted to make these boots last for years so I spent a little more than I can usually afford. Now I've wasted hundreds of dollars on 'luxury' brand boots that I cannot wear. Thus, I would use extreme caution when purchasing any products from this company.

    What is the APL last?

I was looking at the old leather soled style and it shows they are built on the APL last. What is that?
    Asked by: Engnenk
The APL last is a last like our 511 last. A lot of our boots are made on those lasts. For additional last information, please click below:

Where can I get the same replacement flat and round laces supplied with the suede Caen/Normandy?

Where can I get the same replacement flat and round laces supplied with the suede Caen/Normandy? Specifically, brown round laces (tan Caen) and flat gray laces (black caen).
Asked by: Replacement Laces For Owner of ~50 AE's
We apologize, our laces selection is limited to what we offer online. You can find generic flat boot replacement laces in the link below. We recommend 47" or 52" inch laces for the Normandy or Caen styles: Regarding the round or rope laces, unfortunately we do not sell them. We suggest checking at a local convenience store or other online retailers. We understand that offers a wide variety of laces and you may find similar laces through them. We hope you find the styles that you want. Thank you for contacting us!

I wear size 15 in Allen Edmonds. Details say extra roomy.

Would size 14 possibly work and if not can they be returned? Thanks in Normandy suede.
    Asked by: Chip
We’d love to have you visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or one of our retail partners for a professional fitting. Our associates are trained to help you find the right fit for the various lasts and styles we offer. If that's not possible, we suggest trying the same size you usually wear and judging the fit based on how comfortable you feel in the shoes. Also, keep in mind that products purchased on may be returned within 90 days, as long as the item is unworn and accompanied by the packing slip (we advise trying the shoes on a carpeted surface to keep them in returnable condition).
