Patton Cap-Toe Boot with Dainite Rubber Sole is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Inconsistent I am writing a negative review because Allen Edmonds' sizing is inconsistent and confusing. I own two pairs of Higgins Mill boots with a 1757 last. These boots are supposed to have the same last. They do not fit the same however. The width and room in the toe box is the same but the cone or what I understand is the arch of the foot is much bigger. It makes them too loose for the middle of one's foot. I would have just chalked that up to a last that was built for high arched feet, but from my Higgins Mill boot experience I was lead to believe that they weren't. It becomes even more frustrating when I survey the Allen Edmonds boot landscape and find it hard to find a boot with a cone that is made for someone with a "normal" to low volume arch. I thought the whole point of having different lasts was to accommodate different shaped feet. Allen Edmonds seems to think it is merely a style issue. Color, quality of leather, construction, etc. is good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supple Leather with Attractive Pebble Finish in Walnut The pebble grain in walnut (why not the other colors, AE?) is a nice look, and the Dainite rubber sole is perfect for winter slop. They’ll look great right up to business casual; and equally great with jeans. The ankle-height provides some weather protection, but isn’t a full-on boot (like the Higgins Mill, using the same sole). Roomy in the toe, they can’t really be used with suits. But if you are tired of sneakers and loafers as your casual-wear option (or trek through snow on your way to work), this bootlet is for you. Bonus: full lacing, unlike the popular Chukkas. By the way, if you really want a lace-up boot that you CAN wear with suits, the Dalton Shell Cordovan dress boot should be on your wish list. Anyway, on this Patton Cap Toe, the leather is supple (no worries about a break-in), and the finish is typical Allen Edmonds quality. The very first thing you should do when you get them? Apply carnauba wax, to protect the finish from water spotting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit and finish This is my first pair of Allen Edmond boots. I'm always hesitant to shop on line. However, the boots arrived and i love everything about them. Soft leather, fit and finish excellent. Very comfortable. I have received many compliments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Weekend Boot Bought these boots and immediately loved them. Soft on the inside, stylish, and comfortable when doing heavy walking. They are a relaxed fit, so there is slightly more room in the width than other boots.

what is the height of these boots?

    What is “waxy kudu leather“?

Is this from the African kudu antelope? Or is it cowhide? If cowhide, how is it different than calfskin used in other boots/shoes? I’ve seen that Horween makes a leather in their Chromexcel line branded as “kudu”. Is this the same leather?

The online photos of colors walnut and tan look identical, except for the finish. Which is darker?

Secondly, with the "waxy" uppers, can these shoes be polished?
    Asked by: Mark
The difference between the Tan and Walnut shoes is the grain. The color is going to be very similar. Yes, these shoes can be polished.
