Normandy Cap-Toe Boot is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the updated version of the Normandy I swung by the Allen Edmonds factory store in Port Washington over Labor Day when they were having their big sale and picked up a pair of Normandy boots in the dark brown. Because they were at the factory store, and with the 40% discount from the Labor Day sale, I got the boots for less than $200, which is a killer deal on such a quality shoe. When I got the boots home, I was at first slightly confused. I knew they were Normandy boots, but they didn't look like the version that was on the Allen Edmonds site. There was no pre-distressing, and the sole was all rubber rather than leather. Turns out, I just got lucky and managed to get a pair of the new second generation Normandy boots at a clearance price. They're very comfy boots, though I echo the other reviewer who mentioned they run long and slightly narrow. I also own a pair of Sullivan boots that are a half size bigger than my Normandys, and they fit the same. If you already own a pair of Allen Edmonds boots, I'd suggest ordering a half or full size down for length reasons. As far as width, I found the new Normandy boots to be slightly narrower than my Sullivan boots across the midfoot, though they are roomier in the toebox. If you feel snug in AE boots in the midfoot already, consider going up to the EEE instead of sticking with the D. Though it doesn't say so in the description, I can confirm that the new version of the Normandy boots, at least in the dark brown, is still made out of the imported Kudu leather. My boots came with a tag on them stating they were made of "Kudu classic" leather from Charles F. Stead in Leeds, England. The color and grain of the leather also matches up with the Kudu classic leather on the CF Stead website.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Normandy boots review I'm rather disappointed in my pair of brown Normandy boots (purchased when first introduced)...I have noticed that they seem to have changed, and not featuring the "pre-distressed" look anymore. Had I known you would release a second generation version, I would have waited. The non distressed version looks much better, and with a more durable sole also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Curious sizing These run extremely long. I purchased a 10 1/2 D online. Even with boot socks these were an inch longer than my other Allen Edmonds with the same size label ( Dalton’s, Higgins Mill & Cronmok). After returning them in store, I put them side by side and found that the 9 1/2 Normandy (new style with lug sole) was roughly the same size as my 10 1/2 Higgins mill. Disputes the length, these also run narrow. Consider a EEE if sizing down to get the correct length. Other than sizing concerns, these were much more comfortable than other boots out of the box, leather is soft, but with that comes “character” that some with less refined tastes may call blemishes. If on sale ($200ish) these are a killer deal on a quality boot. For full price I’d go with the Higgins Mill or Dalton boots. Both look great with denim but can also be dressed up a bit. The Normandy is strictly a work-style boot for those that don’t actually wear work boots for a living.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Different boot, same name, Normandy 2.0 Not sure why you would so drastically change a boot and keep the same name. You did however listen to people’s concerns about the first Normandy boot such as people not liking the “predistressed leather” (my pair luckily was not distressed much at all) and people wanting an all rubber outsole. Problem is you went with some weird clear rubber outsole that reminds me of either a “dancers” shoe, a child’s shoe, or a crappy timberland boot. Why not just put a black vibram sole on it? Also looks like it’s no longer made of the kudu leather. I do thoroughly enjoy my original Normandy boots however.

I can't use relaxed fit to buy my shoes. You used to list last's on every piece of footwear. What last is the Normandy built on

    Last change?

I own the older version of the Normandy in the brown kudu and the black suede Caen. Both had been produced on the B34 last. As far as I was aware, the only platform to use the APL was the Rockies boot, but now I see that listed here as well. Did the last for the Normandy change from B34 to the APL or is that a typo? Can you compare the two, in a little more detail than "they're both relaxed and will fit the same"?
