    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

Normandy Cap-Toe Boot is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Like factory second I bought two pairs of this boot in error and was planning to keep one for myself. However, both pairs of boots I received were terrible in terms of quality and looked like factory seconds. This has been a consistent issue with most shoes I have bought from Allen Edmonds in recent history. I have generally had to return everything I have ever bought at least once because of what looks like a factory second, sold at full retail price. Quality control really needs to be looked at. Willing to wait for an exchange, but losing hope.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Heel Problem - Good customer Service Have 6 pairs of various AE shoes. This is my first boot. Wanted to have something to wear with inclement weather (snow) with a suit. They look great, and traction is good. Wears like a dress shoe, not as much cushion as a normal boot. Though, 2 weeks after they arrived and about 6 wears, the heel came off. The tread is glued on to the wooden heel, and the glue failed. Just fell off. Called customer service and have a new pair inbound. Good experience with the agent. Hopefully was a “one off” boot I received.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot in a sea of options The Normandy Cap-Toe is a fantastic boot with very supple leather and amazing quality (as you expect from Allen Edmonds). I must have looked at 10 different brands that make the same style boot, but the quality and rebuild options of this boot beat them all. I wear a size 10 in just about every sneaker imaginable, but these boots ran big/long on my narrow foot. Even a 9.5 has plenty of room for bulky socks. It was really difficult choosing a color, but I went with the tan which has a bit more orange to it than the pictures show. The boots break in quickly and are super comfortable to wear every day, even walking around NY for a long weekend right after purchase. If you enjoy driving, these boots are horrible for pedal feel. Clutch feel is non-existent, and the stick/slip on the gas pedal makes driving a powerful car a bit tricky. Not an issue for 99.9% of people but I thought I'd throw it out there. One last note, the Allen Edmonds shop folks I worked with in Mequon WI and Natick Mall MA were outstanding.

Should I size down when buying this shoe.

I have seen on reviews were a lot of people recommend sizing down on this boot before I make a purchase should I do a size down I am a 10 and a 1/2 and 1 of my feet is slightly smaller than the other
    Asked by: Robert
These boots reminded me when I use to wear "jump boots" in the military (they are almost exactly the same), so I remember needing foot pads. Please do your knees and feet a favor and buy in your regular size, so you can add foot pads with arch support.

    Normandy Tan 8303

Do the Normandy tan 8303 come with a different sole or such as a Dainite or Leather or will I have to special order or purchase and send them to be recrafted?
    Asked by: Jay18
This Normandy style features a Commando rubber sole as pictured. The Normandy style linked below features a leather sole. We apologize, these styles are currently not eligible to be custom ordered. You may request a sole conversion when ordering the Standard Package if you send them to our Recrafting service. Is this new Normandy boot still made from Kudu?

I have the older Normandy in brown kudu and double leather oak sole. This new one (830x) says it's weatherproof, and it look like there's a sheen to them. Is it still made from Kudu? If not, what kind of leather is it? Safe to wear these in a steady rain? Do you recommend using the new weatherproofing spray on these?
    Asked by: Ducatisti
Yes, this style is made using Kudu leather. You may use our Water Protector to maintain it's resistance to rain or snow overtime. If you experience these weather conditions while wearing them, we still recommend cleaning the surface of the leather and moisturizing the leather as soon as possible. Feel free to contact us again if you have additional questions!

The shoes I’ve bought from you have all been 10E. How does this relate to the 10eee in boots?

    Asked by: Fiddle
At Allen Edmonds, we believe the right fit is vitally important. We recommend a professional fitting by an Allen Edmonds associate at your nearest retail location or an authorized Allen Edmonds dealer. What’s is the care routine for this leather?

It currently describes a routine for suede, which this shoe is not.
    Asked by: Anonymous
I just wipe them down every once and a while. The soles only last me a year, so I have AE do it all once a year

What is the bench welt ?? Does the Normandy 1.0 have this ?? Normandy, BTW, my favorite AE shoe )boot). Remarkable comfortable. And I live in the Tam

Regarding the Normandy 2.0, what does bench welt mean. How does this differ from my Normandy 1.0 version ?? Many thanks

    Asked by: Jack
The differences are the leather options offered which have been treated to tolerate water better, and the commando rubber sole. Bench welt is the same 360 degree welted construction we've always used but with a new name. Feel free to contact us again if you have additional questions!

    Last

I can't use relaxed fit to buy my shoes. You used to list last's on every piece of footwear. What last is the Normandy built on

    Last change?

I own the older version of the Normandy in the brown kudu and the black suede Caen. Both had been produced on the B34 last. As far as I was aware, the only platform to use the APL was the Rockies boot, but now I see that listed here as well. Did the last for the Normandy change from B34 to the APL or is that a typo? Can you compare the two, in a little more detail than "they're both relaxed and will fit the same"?
    Asked by: Anonymous
The B34 last is the APL last. We apologize for the confusion. Thank you for your question!
