Overview

In Chicago, LaSalle Street and Clark Street parallel one another for almost the entire length of the city, tying together the business district with the town's more social neighborhoods. This connection inspired us to take our Lasalle, one of our customers' all-time favorite dress shoes, and shape it into a casual split-toe blucher unlike you've ever seen before. Like the Lasalle it is constructed on the 108 last to create the elongated toe and overlay plug that act as the perfect canvas for the stylish Algonquin toe. But to set it apart, the Clark Street is crafted using Chromexcel® leather for a livedin look that only gets better each time you wear them. The natural welt highlights the contrast stitching while the red Dainite rubber sole adds a pop of color that is both unexpected and modern, making the Clark Street the perfect shoe to divide time with the Lasalle's you already wear to work.

Reviews
Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 33 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Beautiful shoe but leather is fragile I have owned these shoes for about 1 year and have enjoyed them immensely, getting many compliments about them. I bought them in the natural leather first, and then bought the dark brown version. Unfortunately, the leather has proved to be very easily scraped. I have driven for many hours a week in these shoes, but eventually a small very minimal abrasion developed near the toe, but the oils in the shoe make the abrasion extremely noticeable. I thought at first it was a stain but it is clear that there is a scar in the leather. I have sent the shoes back to Allen Edmunds for possible refinishing, but suspect that I am out of luck. I may try to have the shoe colored a darker tone to hide the scar, but I am dubious. August 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very comfortable AND stylish. These shoes were comfortable right out of the box. No break-in time at all. And they look great. I wear them with dress slacks and khakis. July 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent I have worn Allen Edmonds for years but unfortuneatly I have had to go a size longer because of my width. June 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 Great shoes, very comfortable. I would highly recommend this shoe for anyone on there feet all day. Great look for business or casual. June 6, 2015

I have acquired a dark stain in the leather near the toe from rubbing against something while driving. Leather lotion and saddle soap have not lifted the stain. Could I use mineral spirits or alcohol?

Answer:
We are sorry to learn about the stain on your Clark Street shoes. We recommend sending the shoes in to our Recrafting department for evaluation to see if they can minimize it. You can contact them at recrafting@allenedmonds.com or 1-877-495-5564 (Mon-Fri 7:00AM-6PM CST).

Keep in mind, we do offer driving mocs so you can protect your investments and prevent this type of wear while driving. We suggest checking out the Boulder or the Interstate 90 styles.

I'm interested in ordering a pair of Clark Street Casuals in the very near future. Does this shoe come in any colors other than currently shown on the website: Dark Brown and Neutral?

Answer:
We currently offer the Clark Street style in black leather, however sizes are limited due to it's clearance/closeout status in that color. We suggest also checking out the LaSalle style which is a dressier version of the Clark Street and it's offered in Black and Chili. The Delray is also similar and it's offered in Black, Chili, and Brown.

Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

I recently purchased my first pair of Allen Edmonds. I purchased a pair of Park Avenues in size 9C and am very pleased in the shoe and fit. I want to order a pair of Clark Street Casual shoes but they do not come in C width. What do you suggest for a size. 9 D, 9B maybe a 9.5 B. The nearest store is about 100 miles away so will most likely order online.

Answer:
Unfortunately, it is difficult to recommend a size through this channel and guarantee a proper fit because each last will fit differently based on the contours of your feet. Even if you are professionally measured at one of our stores, chances are the associate would still bring out a few different comparable sizes to ensure they put you in the best possible size for each style.

If visiting a store is not possible, we suggest trying your typical size and exchange it if necessary depending on how they fit you. Keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.

The description says the Clark Street has a red Dainite sole but the photos for the black upper show a black sole. What color is the sole for a black pair?

Answer:
Use the "straight across" technique (as shown on the website) as opposed to a "criss-cross" pattern. It takes a little practice to master this; I suggest you go to an AE retail store or another fine retail shoe store (Nordstrom) to get some assistance and a lesson.

Answer:
The Clark Street is laced this way in the picture for display purposes. However, you can achieve a similar look with by following these instructions:

1. Begin straight across on the outside and in through the bottom eyelets.
2. The left end runs straight up on the inside, then straight across on the outside.
3. The right end runs diagonally up and left on the inside, then straight across on the outside. Repeat with alternate ends until one end reaches the top left eyelet.
4. The remaining end runs straight up on the inside and out through the top right eyelet.

Please feel free to contact our customer service team directly at eservice@allenedmonds.com or 1-877-817-7615 (Mon-Fri 7:00AM-8PM CST) if you require further assistance.

This shoe polish question is on my mind too. I have the light colored Clark Street. What do I use there? I don't want to color the light stitching.

The dark brown (which I'd like) is also a polish problem because it has light stitching too. Suggestions?

Answer:
You should definitely use Neutral polish in both the light and dark brown styles to preserve the original look of the contrast stiching. Best results will be achieved by first giving the shoes a treatment with AE Shoe Cleaning Cream followed by an application of the traditional Neutal polish. I think that the Chromexcel leather's unique look is best maintained with this cleaning regimen.

Answer:
We recommend using Leather Lotion for the Chromexcel leather used on Clark Street style. We do not recommend using Premium Shoe Polish as the pigments and dyes will stain the stitching.

More shoe care information can be found by clicking the 'CARE' tab under the Clarks Street's details section.

Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

I generally wear a size 12 dress shoe with typical dress socks. Since this is casual and I will be wearing with slightly thicker and more casual socks, do you recommend ordering up a size? Thanks!

Answer:
You will definitely notice a difference in how AE's fit based on the socks you wear. If you know your exact size, and are planning on wearing thicker socks, you might consider ordering slightly larger.

Answer:
Because each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape, we highly recommend visiting an Allen Edmonds retail store where a master fitter can guide you through finding the best possible fit. However, if this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Answer:
The Clark Street features the Dainite rubber sole so using a soft damp cloth will be sufficient for maintaining the sole. If you wish, you can use the heel and sole edge dressing for touch ups; we recommend the Neutral for the style in Dark Brown or the Natural Chromexcel leather, or the Black dressing for the style in Black leather.
