Jefferson 2.0 Wingtip Oxford is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rear of shoe slips when I walk. Disconcerting! The rear end of the shoes slip when I walk. Often, the heel of my foot comes up out of the shoe when I walk. The shoes are not snug on my feet. This is disconcerting. I notice that the mouth of the shoe(where I insert my foot) is longer than my other AE shoes(I own 7 other types of dress leather AE shoes). Can this be corrected? Will it improve with wear? I bought a 10.5 EEE which is the same as all my other AEs. Otherwise, they are beautiful and the leather is very supple.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Time to move on to alden I have a pair of AE wingtips that I’ve had for 25 years. They have been resoled 3 times and I am begging a local guy to resole since AE won’t work on them There’s no comparison between those shoes and these

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Looking/Great Quality Shoe! A softer shoe than the original Jefferson version with quicker break in time. Beautiful pair of shoes. Quality just as you'd expect.

The other Indpendence line shoes offer the customizable sole option.

What is Profila binding and how does it differ from the older style of binding?

I keep hearing about this new type of binding on the collar, but I'm not sure exactly what it looks like. Can you explain, please?
    Asked by: Anonymous
The use of each binding method on the top collar is simply a styling difference and the binding methods depend on the style. The more traditional binding method is rolled binding, which you can find on the Park Avenue. The Profila binding has been used for several years, and it's a method currently used on the Independence Collection. It's a raw edge that requires more precision and it's a small detail that offers a more refined and versatile look. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Jefferson 2.0 Merlot , what Color "COLORED shoelace" do you recommend to go along with this to make it Pop and give it a more casual look?

    Asked by: Big Poppa
Literally any color you want - to some degree. You want to make sure you match your laces to an accessory like your tie, suspenders or waistcoat, or your socks. I have blue, purple, yellow, orange, red, green, as well a striped laces in blue/silver, blue/yellow, blue/orange, red/green, white/red, white/burgundy. I don't have a shoe in merlot, but all of these laces work for my two black and two walnut AEs that use laces (I have the St. John's double monks in dark chili). I don't wear brown laces, and only wear black laces with my black oxfords if I am at a formal event. Futhermore, I almost never wear the same laces twice in a row (or the same shoes for that matter). It only takes about 3-5 minutes to change out laces and they dramatically change the look of your shoes/outfit. Like I said, it depends on accessories and also your work culture/environment.

premium leather conditioner or leather lotion?

I was at my local AE shop talking with an employee and he recommended I use premium leather conditioner on the merlot Jefferson 2.0 instead of leather lotion. He also advised against regularly polishing this leather if at all but said I could polish my new strands daily if I’d like. I’m partial to a matte finish, but I’m wondering if you can expand on the difference between his recommendations versus what you have listed under product care for the Jefferson 2.0. Thanks
    Asked by: Newton
Premium Shoe Polish and Leather Lotion can be used on the Jefferson 2.0. The Premium Leather Conditioner can also be used in place of the Leather Lotion. The Jefferson 2.0 does not get the bright finish we apply on the Strand at the factory, and we also use a different type of calfskin, so it may not take as high a shine as the Strand. With that said, you can apply Premium Shoe Polish to add a glow and restore the color. You may also use the Carnauba Wax Polish in Neutral if you would like to try to add a higher shine. Leather Lotion or Premium Leather Conditioner can be used to help moisturize the leather and keep it soft and supple. Any other these products can be applied regularly or as needed, it depends on your own personal preference. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

    Width

How does the width compare to the Mctavish? I wear a 10.5 D but on some of your lasts it is tight. On others like the Mctavish it is generous.
    Asked by: Tfad
The McTavish was constructed on the 65 last which is the longest in length of all of our lasts and tends to be known for its long, narrow look. The Jefferson 2.0 is constructed on the 201 last has fuller forefoot width for more comfort but with a slight chisel to the toe profile, that complements our iconic 65 last. Can not find Matching belt for 2.0 Wingtip Oxfords in MERLOT. Please help!

Hi, I ordered Jefferson 2.0 Wingtip Oxfords in MERLOT color and I was trying to find a belt with matching color. I found one belt called “Wide Basic Dress Belt” which comes in 39535 Merlot Burnished Calf, but it does not have my size (my pants size is 35 -36). Do you offer any other dress belts in Merlot color? Is oxblood color close to merlot? I see Clay Ave Belt in Oxblood, but I am afraid it will not match the color of my new shoes..
    Asked by: SpecialK
I got the Manistee belt in Oxblood and it was a perfect match; closer than my belt and shoes in walnut. I’m sure there’s some variation between production runs but I’m very happy with what I got.

Is there any reason as to why the tongue does not contain any perforations such as in the Dalton or Cornwallis?

The Jefferson/Bartlett and the McAllister/Strand could use some perforation at the part of the tongue that is exposed just like the Cornwallis or Dalton.
    Asked by: cthbk
You really think this shoe is lacking in perfing or broguing? They would be "over-the-top" if they had any more perfing on the tongue. The cornwallis is much more understated shoe, w/out a cap or wingtips, and the dalton is a boot, so it has room for more perfing/broguing. That's why these don't have have or NEED any more decoration.

Sole: single or double? Insole: poron?

Two questions: 1. Is sole single or double leather thickness? 2. Does insole include poron padding layer?
    Asked by: WharfRat
The Jefferson 2.0 style features a Single Oak Leather Sole and our traditional cork footbed with a leather lined insole, it does not have a Poron insole. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
