STEP 2: Moisturize the shoes with cream polish to make them supple and soft, following instructions on the product.

STEP 3: Next condition the shoes with speed polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take the heel dressing applicator and press against the edge of the heels and soles.

STEP 5: Apply leather lotion as needed for added protection and polish between cleanings.

*For camo printed material, simply rub leather lotion onto print with a white cloth as needed and wipe smudges or dirt away with a damp white cloth.

St. John's Double Monk Strap is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 68.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Monks I have these in Walnut. The fit and feel great as do all my other AE shoes. I usually wear them for evening outs, but sometimes I'll sneak them into the office for casual Fridays because they are fun. The leather is good quality and the construction is solid. They can be used to elevate a very casual outfit quite easily and they will definitely be noticed here in the US because its not a common style that men wear. I plan to buy another pair in chili in the near future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for any collection This is a very special shoe. For anyone just starting a shoe wardrobe, it is a shoe you need to have to build a proper collection. For anyone with a decent collection, it is a shoe you cannot really have a collection without. It is a dress shoe that works from jeans to semi-formal without missing a beat. Very comfortable and great to wear. Very stylish and looks smaller than it's actual size. Great supple leather and a shoe for any style of dress. Get a pair.!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good looking shoes Shoes arrived on my doorstep earlier than anticipated. In the past I've experienced a lot of problems with my AE orders not getting quality checked, but this pair was acceptable. Both shoes were squeaky when I first put them on and there was a slight color difference between the left and right - color Dark Chili. I applied some leather lotion which removed the squeak sound. I have about 7 pairs of AE shoes and this is the first that has ever caused heal rubbing / pain. Not a deal breaker for me though as they are beautiful shoes and I would recommend if you are in the need for a classic monk strap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic and classy Great shoes! Super high quality leather uppers, construction is first rate. The buckle placement is ideal. Shoes take a little bit of time to break in, and the leather has a bit of a satisfying creak as you do so, but it only adds to the genuine vibe of this classic shoe. Very comfortable once worn a few times, and the dual uppers have a very substantial feel but not at all overwhelming. A classic “mans” shoe!

    About shoes with same last

I would like to know whether different shoes with same last would have the same fit. Like the ST. JOHN'S DOUBLE MONK STRAP, the EXCHANGE PLACE CAP-TOE DRESS SHOE and the LEIDEN WINGTIP BLUCHER are all manufactured in 1943 last, so if the LEIDEN's 9D fits me perfectly, would 9D of the other two pairs fit me well? Because in my understanding, the same last means the same shape of shoes, so the same fit. Thank you, K.
    Asked by: CostuK
No these do not have the exact same fit. I have the double monks in 9 3E (and honestly the 9 E would probably be better tighter fit), while the Leidens I had to get in 9.5 3E. Don't know why, but the Leidens were putting pressure on my pinky toe in the size 9 3E even though I don't have that issue with the double monks. I had later found out that that the last isn't the best fit for me, my foot prefers the 201 last.

    How are the buckles attached?

Are the buckles attached to the leather, or held on with elastic? I find if its just elastic the shoes always feel loose if there is elastic that simply holds the buckles to the side of the shoe so the shoes look correct that would be fine.
    Asked by: Mike
They’re a high quality elastic and they don’t feel in the least bit loose to me and I don’t like loose shoes.

How Long will the Squeaking Last??

I love the looks of my St. Johns and they are as comfortable as my McAllister's but the squeaking is driving me nuts. I understand that the flap over the instep (leather on leather) is causing the noise. I only wear these in the house because they are too noisy to wear in public!!! Any ideas or tips on how to make this noise go away???
    Asked by: sandiegoken
The show lotion worked immediately....Thanks, I applied it to the tongue and underside of the flap and the squeaks are gone.

is this a slip on or do you have to buckel and unbuckel when putting on & off?

    Asked by: Hike
Wouldn't advise to use this show as slip on. I always unbuckle before putting them on

    Light Chili or dark Chili?

The color just says "Chili". Is it your Dark Chili or your previous (lighter) Chili? What shoe polish would I use? Also, will this be available in Oxblood anytime soon? Thanks!

333 last compared to 1943 Last

I own 2 pairs of shoes with the 333 last. I am looking at the St. Johns Double Monk Strap which is made with the 1943 Last. How does the 1943 compare to the 333 in terms of width and fit?
    Asked by: Mochi
The 1943 last is a derivative of our established 333 last, we reduced the toe length and widened the fit across the ball of the foot. The 1943 is a new last in the Refined Dress category. A soft square toe shape is paired with a sculpted, longer forepart and higher cone than our traditional Timeless Classic lasts. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

    Belt to match shoe

    Matching belt
    Asked by: John
For black, go with the black croc belt. At $295 it's a bargain, and it's a little wider and so shows well.

    Sizing?

Can I be measured so you guys can get me the correct fit in any style of shoe or boot? I have 12 pairs of AE shoes, I would not buy on line because I can't get the same size shoe when I go to the store to buy. I need to try on several different sizes and widths before I can find the good fit, sometimes not the perfect fit. But if you all have the size that fits perfect in one pair, why can't you find me the perfect fit by using the styles size? thank, marty417
    Asked by: Marty417
Go to your local Allen Edmonds shoe store to get the correct size.
