STEP 3: Condition the shoes with our Speed Polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take our Heel dressing applicator and apply to the edge of the heel and sole.

STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

Most people consider a “classic” fit to be a “standard” fit. This fit more closely aligns with the natural shape of your feet.

Fifth Avenue Cap-Toe Oxford is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 935.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful pair of shoes I was expecting a pair of nice Coffee 5th Ave cap-toe shoes. I was wondering if I'd have to return them for one of many things that could go wrong with quality control. They arrived and they are perfect! The nice Coffee brown color was the missing link to my collection and there are no flaws. Exactly what I expect from a quality shoe manufacturer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very Unsatisfied Sad to say after purchasing a pair of Fifth Ave I received a shoe box that was ripped up, beaten, and clearly been sitting in the back of a warehouse. But hey, it’s just the box, right? Well when I opened the box I quickly realized that the bottom of one of the soles had a sticker ripped off of it, pulling off all of the top leather with it. Leaving a large mark right over the AE logo where the walking wear will not show, and therefore make this mark insignificant. Further, the welting on the other sole was rough, definitely not the quality I expected, and grown to enjoy with AE shoes. This leaves the shoe fit. I was meant to receive a 9.0 D, and I have a pair in the same size that fits perfect. Just not Fifth Ave apparently. Because this pair was nearly a full size too long and seemingly a bit wider than my other pair. Very unfortunate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shoes Great shoes. I wear 13B and Allen-Edmonds classic fit shoes always fit well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would by again So, this is my first pair of Allen Edmonds, to be truthful I was hesitant to buy after reading online reviews about how the quality of A & E has fallen. After quite a bit of debate I finally ordered the Black Fifth-Avenue Cap Toe Oxford. I got them on sell at a great price. The shoes arrived very quickly, and the packaging was perfect. A shoe bag that I had not ordered was also enclosed. Quality Control for the product looked very good. The quality of the leather looked good, the coloring looked even with no variances. The only problem at all was minor, there were several loose threads. The insole is smooth with no defects. The size was spot on the 9.5 E fit me perfectly. I did use leather conditioner and polished the shoes prior to wearing them. I also changed out the laces only because I wanted colored laces in the shoes. They were comfortable from day one. So, will check back in when I have had the shoes for a few months and comment on how well they are lasting, but for the moment I am very happy with them and plan on additional purchases later this year and into next year.

What type of color is mahogany?

Is it a darker version of chili (so a brown with some red hues in it)? Or is it more like a shinier version of cigar (so a sort of museum brown)? Or something else? As ever, it's a little hard to tell from the photos against a white background.
    Asked by: srlclark
The pair that I received showed signs of wear and an attempt to polish the shoes. That being said it could be any shade.

Is any part of this shoe bookbinder or corrected grain leather?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Definitely not!....uppers are soft calf with multistage finishing and a full leather lining. Construction and finishing quality are beautiful. Comfortable with little to no break in time..Worth the money if you reject a throwaway culture and value fine quality

How long does the sale go for the fifth avenue dress shoe? Also, do we get 15% off our first purchase even if the fifth ave shoe is on sale already?

    Asked by: Anonymous
You only get 15% off your first order. I recently purchased two pairs of fifth avenues and am returning them both. The shoes have obviously been worn, inside the shoes you can see wear marks on the heal and the insoles. The leather uppers were scratched and scuffed up which were noticeable. Parts of the leather uppers were crackling and you can tell that someone tried to polish the shoes but it looked shoddy. I’ve returned four out of ten pairs of shoes ordered and the other six had some flaws that were not that bad. Returning 40 % of shoes ordered makes one wonder if quality control is part of the process anymore. Purchase at your own risk.

    Which shoe polish for mahogany?

Hi, which shoe polish color should I used for Mahogany? It seems to be a new addition to the fifth ave selection.
    Asked by: Brian
First,..I always treat the new shoes with Sapir Renovateur moisturizer and give a good brushing. This alone adds a lot of depth to the finish and improves the appearance immediately. I am then using Sapir cream polish 09- Mahogany and it seems spot on. Hope that helps.

I live in and travel to areas that can be awfully wet and thusly slick with this type sole. Are there options to help with that?

I’ve seen tape that some people sell but I don’t want to void a warranty yet out something on the sole to give me more traction. Please offer recommendations. Thank you. Justin
    Asked by: Anonymous
Justin, your best strategy would have been to order these shoes on the website with the optional partial rubber sole, but that does unfortunately add to the cost of what is already and expensive shoe. I wouldn't hesitate to go to a shoe repair shop and have partial rubber soles put on. If you have worn the shoes a while, you know whether they are well built and so worrying about a warranty is pretty pointless. There are also websites that offer very minimally fashioned rubber overshoes that cover the lower half of the shoe--a great option if you live in a very stormy area.
