    Care Instructions

STEP 1: Using a damp cloth or sponge, lather saddle soap and apply onto leather to clean and restore its natural oils.

STEP 2: Moisturize the shoes with cream polish to make them supple and soft, following instructions on the product.

STEP 3: Next condition the shoes with speed polish, protecting them from dirt, rain and snow.

STEP 4: Take the heel dressing applicator and press against the edge of the heels and soles.

STEP 5: Apply leather lotion as needed for added protection and polish between cleanings.

*For camo printed material, simply rub leather lotion onto print with a white cloth as needed and wipe smudges or dirt away with a damp white cloth.
    Fit

    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

Lake Forest Penny Loafer is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lake Forest Penny Loafer I had to drop down 1 size in the width for the right fit but Allen Edmonds handled everything and I love the shoes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks like I was sent two different shoes I purchased these loafers while Allen Edmonds had their recent sale. I'm thinking the sale was prompted by poor production of recently made shoes. My left loafer looks as advertised but the right loafer is meaningfully and noticeably wider in the toe box and the stitching was also not well done. I would have returned the shoes but my eyesight is not great and I did not notice until until someone pointed it out after several wears. A colleague also bought shoes during the recent sale and had multiple issues as well. I have 5 other pairs of Allen Edmonds and these did not meet expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe! beautiful shoe! fit & finish are perfect. color is great! easy to get on and off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2nd Pair of Lake Forest Loafers I love my brown pair, so I ordered these in black as well. My brown pair fits like a glove, the black ones are much higher over the top. I placed my 2 pairs next to each other and it is visually noticeable how much taller the black pair is. I inserted tongue pad spacers and they fit well now. I would have sent them back for a different pair, but the rest of the shoe is spot on and spacers are cheap as dirt, so it's not worth the time/effort to bother for me. I normally buy a size 9 or 9.5 in sport shoes, but with AE I wear an 8EEE. That's not a big deal, you just have to try some on in person or be prepared to shuttle some pairs through the mail as you nail your perfect fit. I only wear AE dress shoes. I don't bother with other brands as none have the quality/value in my opinion. They aren't cheap, but they last for a long, long time and they look superior to other brands when they get some miles on them. If this is your first pair, you need to know they take forever to really break in and be comfortable. Several, several days of wear are needed to get them broken in. Be patient and you'll be rewarded.

    Size Down?

Is it recommended to size down a half size in these loafers? I'm a 10 and measure right between C and D on a brannock. Typically wear a 10 D on other Allen Edmonds.
    Asked by: njtim
No, length is standard. I wear 10.5, but the width can be a little problematic. D tight and E a bit loose. Wear thin sock with D, thick with E. They do accept returns if necessary.

    Lafayette

I have over 20 pairs of AE and typically 10D regardless of lasts fits me well. Also, I wear 9.5D in Alden Barrie. The width of my feet is between a D and E, kind of like a D+/E-. I also have flat feet. On Nordstrom's site, they say Lake Forest runs large and recommend going down a size. Unfortunately, there's no AE stores near me to try them on. What size should I get in Lake Forest? TIA.
    Asked by: KC
It is difficult to recommend a size through this channel and guarantee a proper fit because each style can fit differently based on the contours of your feet. Typically, we recommend trying the same size you usually wear and judge the fit based on how comfortable you feel in the shoes.   It is vitally important to visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner for a professional fitting to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. If that's not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on AllenEdmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip.  Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition. http://www.allenedmonds.com/discover/shoes-101/lasts.html

How should I treat this shoe before I begin wearing it (i.e., waterproofing, etc.)?

    Asked by: Kris
Thank you for your question. The shoes are ready to wear out of the box. We do not have a recommended waterproofing agent for our shoes as waterproofers can damage the calfskin leather and finishes we use.

I just bought a polishing kit for my lake forest, how do I use each item that came with it?

The polishing kit came with leather lotion, conditional cleaner, and premium shoe polish.
    Asked by: DC
Brush your shoe off with a horsehair cleaning brush. This removes gross dust. If you are really dirty a damp cotton cloth may be needed. Use a small amount of cleaner/conditioner and rub into shoe with circular motions. Once you get the shoe covered, wipe off with clean cotton cloth. Leather lotion can then be applied, you do not need a lot just enough to cover the shoe. Let dry and penetrate. At least 20 minutes but I let it go at least a few hours. Apply polish in circular motions and let dry at least 10 minutes. Use a horsehair brush, this is the one that you use on similar colors for shinning and not cleaning. And brush to a desired shine. Use a clean cloth to do a final wipe down. Depending on wear this might be a monthly ritual or weekly depends on how much you wear. But once you get a base shine brushing and wiping will go a long way.

    How's the sizing?

How's the sizing on this loafer compared to the Ascher? What's the difference between the lasts on the Ascher and Lake Forest?
    Asked by: JR
I own both. The Lake Forest foot box is slightly wider than on the Ascher. For me, at least, it is a better fit.

What is the difference in the Randolph Penny Loafer and the Lake Forest? Which shoe has the slimmer or more narrow look in the toe box?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Lake forest is a more fashion forward last and looks more narrow in the front area. The Randolph, "my personal favorite penny", is wider up front but has a last that allows lower vamp designs. If you choose Randolph you will definitely show more sock.

    2042 Last

I noticed the Lake Forest is built on the 2042 last. I didn't see a description for this last on the All About Lasts page. Could you talk more about this last, please? Thank you!
    Asked by: Anonymous
The 2042 is a new slip-on last that has a sleeker aesthetic than a traditional 606 slip-on last, meaning is it slightly narrower and has a more chiseled look. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Will orthodic inserts work with these shoes? Meaning is there plenty of room inside to where them with the inserts?

    Asked by: DJ
The shoes have their own inserts. Based on my foot, another insert will not fit
