STEP 5: Apply our Leather Lotion as needed for added protection and polish in between cleanings. Use our Horsehair Shine Brush to buff shoes to a desired shine.

Sanibel Slip-on Venetian Loafer is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 62.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sanibel not up to AE standards I purchased the Sanibel loafer with the intention that it might work for business casual and after work. I wear size 11-D in other AE lace up shoes, but found the Sanibel in 11-D was about a 1/4 size too snug and the toe box too snug. Additionally, the leather never broke in and was much too stiff. Overall, while I really wanted to like these shoes, I can not recommend them. I will spend more for an American made AE loafer that can be resoled.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too small If the 10.5 B size I purchased was that of all the other Allen Edmonds shoes I own, I think I would be a happy camper. While I am hoping these “cruel shoes” may stretch out over time, I don’t think that is likely and wish I had sent them back before wearing them for an 11 B, instead.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Much lighter in color than expected I purchased these in Walnut. When they arrived they were much lighter in color that what was shown on the website. I ended up returning them. From what I understand there is a good deal of color variation in the Walnut shade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I had hoped for The Sanibel is exactly what I wanted. A simple casual shoe that looked great. The fit is spot on. I have worn them twice and both times people took notice of how nice a shoe it is.

Have you changed the slat (or mold) on which the Sanibel is created compared to earlier additions?

I've bought a few pair of Sanibel loafers because I like them. But I notice the ones I bought more recently have a tighter fit than the ones I bought a while ago. (I'm talking about when first trying them on - this is not due to "breaking them in".)

    Socks or no?

I'm looking for another pair of shoes to wear to work, and probably cannot get away with no socks. I've never written a pair of slip-ins before.

What color heel and sole edge dressing should be used with the walnut color Sanibels?

Is there somewhere on the A&E website that tells customers what color polishes, edge dressings, etc., to use for each model of shoe?
    Asked by: Anonymous
We do not provide that since caring for your shoes is typically pretty straight forward. We suggest using Walnut Premium Shoe Polish and Neutral Heel and Sole Edge Dressing on Walnut styles, for example. The use of care products is dependent upon your desired result. We suggest visiting our 'Caring for your shoes' page to learn more. http://www.allenedmonds.com/shoes-101/shoe-care.html Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

What type and color of polish (e.g shoe cream, polish, etc...) should I use to care for my brown sanibels?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question. For the Brown Sanibels, we would recommend Dark Brown Premium Polish.

    sanibel slip on venetian

I have a worn pair of westport AE loafers which you discontinued I would like to order the sanibel which looks very similar but many of the reviews state that they do not fit comfortably (all of these reviewers compare them to prior pairs of AE shoes). Is the last on the sanibel the same as that on the old westport loafers which I wore in a size 9 wide? Please advise, I don't want to order them only to find they do not fit as did the west ports
    Asked by: westportopenia
Allen Edmonds shoes are constructed on a wide variety of lasts (foot molds) and each will feature unique fit characteristics. All lasts are the same length from the heel to the ball of the foot, but the shape of the toe or the depth of the shoe may affect the overall fit and feel of the shoes. The Sanibel is constructed on the 555 Last has a shorter forepart and round toe with a tighter instep providing a snug fit. The Westbrook was made on the 2592 Last is a rounded and fuller toe handsewn last. It is vitally important to visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner for a professional fitting to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. However, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.
