Why It's Great

It doesn’t get much better than Park Avenue. As our best-selling shoe for over three decades, this is the shoe that made Allen Edmonds the company that it is today. Worn by notable statesmen, chairmen of the board, heads of state and leaders around the world, it is as tastefully serious as any shoe you could find. If you’re looking for that first Allen Edmonds shoe to start your collection, this would be a good place to start.

How It's Made

The Park Avenue is made with only the highest quality calfskin leather and is hand sewn with triple seam stitching across the vamp on our classic 65 Last, making it impossible to recreate. It may often be imitated, but it’s never copied.

How to Wear It

Used with our Premium Shoe Polish, you will become a polish believer, there’s no baked in shine here. As a member of our exclusive Timeless Collection, this cap-toe balmoral exudes an air of prestige, confidence and credibility. Simply put, you can’t go wrong with a Park Avenue. As Lisa Douglas famously said "Darling I love you, but give me Park Avenue!”

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Our new Dark Chili and Oxblood burnished leathers can be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove dirt and any residue. Follow by using a soft cloth to apply our Allen Edmonds Saddle Soap which cleans all smooth leather shoes while restoring the leather's natural oils.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Shoe BUT A Store Associate Misfitted Me This is a great shoe and I am generally a fan of Allen Edmonds. I own several pairs, including a few that were given as gifts. My latest pair is the Bartlett, and they are spectacular. But I also love both the Fifth Avenue and the Park Avenue. Great looking, great quality. But in my particular case I was put into a 10 EEE of this shoe and it's simply too wide for my foot. Now, fitting shoes is more art than science, and my feet are not the same size (left is bigger). But after spending an hour today at the Madison Avenue store in NYC with an excellent associate named Reesa T. I realize that the associate who fitted me for the pair of Park Avenues I bought last year rushed me through it (these were purchased at one of the other Manhattan locations). After trying on a dozen different pairs today I realized that in the last for the Park Ave/Fifth Ave I am a 10.5 E or a 10 EE. But I am definitely not a 10 EEE and my foot swims in the pair I currently have. As a result I rarely wear them. I know Allen Edmonds stands by its shoes and its customer. And most of my in-store experiences have been stellar. But with this shoe they missed the mark. It's an expensive mistake. Lesson learned I suppose... It's disappointing. I know that Allen Edmonds stands by its shoes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice walnut shoe! Nice walnut shoe! True in length and width with a rich walnut color which is great. I can wear them with jeans or a suit. Well made and made in the USA. Just keep adding more Allen Edmonds shoes to diversify my collection. Buying more. The only reason these did not get five stars, is the fact I rate the top of the line Independence collection five stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect men's dress shoe. For my first ever pair of AEs, I just had to go with the quintessential dress shoe; the Park Avenue. I needed something to wear with a blue suit, and I went with Dark Chili. I absolutely love the color! Not too dark, not too red, not too purple, not too orange, just a great looking, versatile color. The shoes fit great, and the exceptional quality is very obvious. I was so impressed that I just got my second pair of AEs (black Fith Avenues).

I Have a 9.5D in the Park Ave. The length is fine but they are just too narrow to wear all day. Do you recommend a 10D or a 9.5E or EE?

My Bartletts, Hopkinsons, and Jeffersons are 10D's. The width is fine but might be just a bit long. Although I am happy overall with them.

Is the park avenue cap toe built on the same last as the byron

Asked by: Anonymous
The Park Avenue is constructed on the 65 Last. The discontinued Byron was made on the 234 Last. 65 LAST Known more simply as the 5 last, the 65 last is our most popular, classic fitting last. The longest in length of all of our lasts; best for a long, narrow look; and often the best fit for those with high arches. Our best-selling Park Avenue is made on the 65 last. 234 LAST The 234 last was the first Allen Edmonds last with a non-rounded toe. The 234 last is modeled after the 97 last for the best fit for the average foot, but with a less pronounced point and subtly squared-off toe. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

How to restore toe cap color?

I have this shoe in Walnut. I stupidly tried to clean them without any thought of watching instructions as this is the first pair of nice shoes I have. I must've rubbed to hard on the top where it is slightly darker than the rest of the shoe, and now the dark color is rubbed off in a circular area exposing a lighter color. How can I darken that area again?

Use Allen Edmonds shoe cream and use a soft rag or horse hair shoe dober (sold by Allen Edmonds) and appy generously over the entire shoe. Let the polish dry for several minutes until it becomes a dry dull haze. Then take a horse hair brush and using a brisk motion shine the shoe until it has a bright brilliant finish. You may have to do this several times to get the color consistency back to it’s original condition. If that doesn’t work then try it again leaving the shoe polish on for longer periods of time. The longer you leave the polish on the shoe to dry, the longer it’ll take to get the polish to shine with a horsehair brush. Put a little elbow grease into it when you use your horse hair brush. Repeat as many times as necessary until your shoes look like their original color. This should work. You may also want to use Allen Edmonds leather cream and leave that on your shoes until it’s dried to a dull haze, then repeat the steps above. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Has the design shape of the Park Avenue shoe evolved over the years such that the toe is more rounded today and less pointed?

Asked by: Anonymous
The 65 Last has not changed over the past 30+ years. However edge trimming on the soles has evolved over time and can affect the overall appears of the shoe. Also, in years past, we have used lasts with a more pointed toe shape, to make styles that were similar to the Park Avenue. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

What belts go with this?

I would love to have dark chili color. Will Clay Ave Belt with 75136 Dark Chili goes well with his dark chili shoes?
Asked by: Anonymous
I purchased a Fifth Avenue in dark chili with a Wide Basic belt in dark brown burnished calf (#39507). The colors match perfectly and the style of both the Clay Ave and the Wide Basic are very similar.

Is "5845 Brown" the same color as "Dark Brown Burnished"?

A few years ago I was debating on whether to buy Park Avenues in black or dark brown burnished. In the end, I opted for the black because I wanted to go with a traditional color for job interviews. Now I wanted to buy another pair of Park Avenues, but this time in dark brown burnished color. However, it looks like AE removed it and instead replaced it with "5845 Brown". So was dark brown burnished renamed to 5845 Brown?
Asked by: TheLegend27
Yes, the Brown Park Avenue is the burnished dark brown calfskin. Some descriptions have been simplified. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Hi. My Walnut Park Avenue's cap toe is a lighter shade than the rest of the shoe. How can I get the cap toe to match the rest of the shoe? Using the premium walnut polish doesn't help to match the darker shades of the shoe. Should I use one of the shoe creams? If so, what shade should I use? Thank you for your time.
Asked by: Orlando Shoe Bro
We use a special combination of waxes and dyes to burnish our shoes and polish will not achieve the same effect. Darkening a toe may require a certain level or experience and we do not recommend experimenting unless you know the results. Keep in mind also that leather will naturally acquire a patina overtime with normal wear and care. If you have concerns about the pair of shoes you received, we recommend contacting our customer service team directly for assistance. They can be reached at 877.817.7615.
