    Care Instructions

Cordovan leather requires different care than calfskin due to its unique properties. Brush and wipe regularly and apply cream occasionally to protect the leather and maintain its rich color.

    Regular Maintenance:

Regularly, brush the leather with our Horsehair Shine Brush or wipe with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth.

To Protect and Restore Color, Follow These Steps:

STEP 1: Wipe your shoe down with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

STEP 2: Using your Horsehair Dauber, apply a small amount of Cordovan cream in a circular motion.

STEP 3: While the cream is still slightly wet, take our Horsehair Shine Brush and brush back and forth, heating the cream and leather. This allows the natural oils to move to the surface to bring out the leather's natural shine.

STEP 4: Next, use the soft side of our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth to buff the shoe until the surface is no longer tacky. Often, some excess cream will transfer onto the cloth, which is normal.

STEP 5: Take our Heel Dressing applicator and press against the edge of the heel and sole.

    Classic Fit

Most people consider a “classic” fit to be a “standard” fit. This fit more closely aligns with the natural shape of your feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Follow up The initial pair I received had some flaws and was exchanged through a retail store. The pair I have live up to the Allan Edmonds reputation for style and quality. These shoes are gorgeous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptoinal shoe, truly a life time shoe, but new they are not cheap. You get what you pay for! I have a size 12 wide which ive had trouble in the past finding. 12 3E for Allen Edmonds. I was considering a bespoke pair but blind bought these Allen Edmunds again in size 12 3E Wide. Fits like bespoke, required no break in period. Exceptional quality, you do have to pay a good deal for new firsts but again, they are a life time shoe. I'm on my feet all day at work and they hold up perfectly. If you don't know how to condition and polish shoes you must learn if you hope to keep them like new. I lift and lower door stops at work that really trash other shoes which I was afraid of with my beloved Allen Edmunds but I keep them well polished with Saphir Polishes and they don't have one blemish as of yet. They are also resistant to salt and are waterproof. The stock rubber sole provides good grip and they are not slippery. You need to be a little careful on wet floors but I havn't fallen on my butt yet! Overall a truly life time shoe when taken care of. Even if the shoe becomes well worn they can be refurbished to new condition more then once. Mine are still all original but both friends and family have them and keep them for life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Astonishing shoe! Probably THE most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I have serious lower back pain. Ever since I started collecting Allen Edmond's beautiful shoes the pain has immensely subsided! It's a classic that will never wither with time. I was so impressed with these shoes that I bought all the cordovan styles Allen Edmond's has to offer. I'm extremely happy I came across this brand.

Any servicemen use these with their Class A uniform?

Looking for a more comfortable option to the issued plastic shoes that blow out at the welt every year. Does anyone have any experience using these shoes with their Class A uniform?

Are the Leeds Plain Toe Dress shoe airport security friendly?

    Asked by: Roger
Yes, they are airport security friendly. I believe they do have a steel shank in the sole, but it will not set off any metal detectors. I have had this style for the last 16 years and travel through airport security weekly as a pilot.

    Current Leeds vs. Old Leeds

I bought a pair of black leather (non-cordovan) Leeds about 6 years ago. They are the "old style", the one before Leeds 2.0. Can you please tell me whether the current Leeds model -- the one that's for sale now -- would be the same or different than my old Leeds? Thank you!
    Asked by: Christopher
The Leeds currently offered is the original version of the Leeds. Feel free to contact us again if you have additional questions!

How long does the leather sole on shell cordovan shoes remain slippery?

Presently my new shell cordovan derby shoes are slippery when walking on rugs.
    Asked by: Rookie
Once the new leather burnishes and wears a bit they should be nice and grippy. Also, any competent Cobbler can install rubber over the leather if need be but give them some time and wear and you should be fine. Also when you decide its time to resole them there are a few other options you can consider like different rubber/leather combinations on the heal and toe area.

If the nearest Allen Edmunds store is too far have a shoe store or Cobbler measure your foot. I recently blind bought a pair of Allen Edmunds going by their scale and they fit perfectly.
