    Care Instructions

Cordovan leather requires different care than calfskin due to its unique properties. Brush and wipe regularly and apply cream occasionally to protect the leather and maintain its rich color.

    Regular Maintenance:

Regularly, brush the leather with our Horsehair Shine Brush or wipe with our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth.

To Protect and Restore Color, Follow These Steps:

STEP 1: Wipe your shoe down with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

STEP 2: Using your Horsehair Dauber, apply a small amount of Cordovan cream in a circular motion.

STEP 3: While the cream is still slightly wet, take our Horsehair Shine Brush and brush back and forth, heating the cream and leather. This allows the natural oils to move to the surface to bring out the leather's natural shine.

STEP 4: Next, use the soft side of our Cotton Flannel Polishing Cloth to buff the shoe until the surface is no longer tacky. Often, some excess cream will transfer onto the cloth, which is normal.

STEP 5: Take our Heel Dressing applicator and press against the edge of the heel and sole.

    Classic Fit

Most people consider a “classic” fit to be a “standard” fit. This fit more closely aligns with the natural shape of your feet.

Leeds Shell Cordovan Derby Shoe is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 163.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Allen Edmonds does it again I ordered the Leeds in Cigar and I customized the sole with Dainite. They arrived in pristine perfect condition and fit perfectly right out of the box. This is my first shoe with Dainite and I was a bit concerned with some reviewers praising them and others having no love at all for them. I have found them perfect. They grip great on hardwood, carpet and of course outside. They also offer a degree of cushion while walking that makes wearing these shoes very comfortable. I only plan on wearing these shoes with jeans and khakis. Being a purist I would never wear Dainite with a suit. As I mentioned, the quality is first rate. These are my 16rh pair of Allen Edmonds and I am just as happy with the workmanship on these shoes as I was on my first pair of Sarotoga’s over 40 years ago. AE, keep up the great work!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This product shows quality control issues of AE I recently bought a pair of AE Leeds Blucher black dress shoes directly from AE. When I got them and tried them on, I noticed a significant bubble on the inside of the right shoe that creates an uncomfortable ridge. Of note, this was only found in the right shoe and the left shoe was unaffected. I am very disappointed with a company that prides itself on being an American company that takes factory seconds off the line. If this is a factory first one can only imagine a second. If you are to still buy from AE, I would recommend buying them in person. Maybe you can spot issues in a pair before you buy. Looks like I am stuck with a bad pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow, just WOW!!! Okay, I was going to wait after a few wears to post a review, however, these shoes are ridiculously comfortable. It's as tif they were made for my feet. I bought these intending to using them casually. I thought the storm welt would render itself great for casual wear, but the blockyness of the welt would make it harder to wear these in a more formal occasion. However, the welt is not nearly as blocky in person as it is in the website pictures. These shoes would work even with a more casual suit. In summary, these shoes are even more versatile than I thought they would be. Oh the comfort, did I mention the comfort. I thought that the double leather would require more break in time. However, these shoes were just perfect out of the box. AE has done it again and stayed true to their mission of making some of the most comfortable shoes out there. The quality of the leather is amazing. I can't see any corrections or imperfection on the leather. It is very smooth and soft. My feet doesn't want to leave these shoes. I hate to end it on a negative note, but I have to point out that there are some minor finishing touches that could have been a bit better. For instance, the smoothness of the heel breast, or where the two ends of the welt meet, or the channel at the bottom of the sole for the stitching, among other finishing touches, could have been a bit better. Also, not that it matter, my heel lip doesn't have the AE logo on it and the debossed logo on the sole is barely visible. With that said, 1) you can only see those minor detail when you have the shoes a foot and a half or less away from your face, which doesn't usually happen when you have your foot inside the shoes. 2) These are minor finishing touches that have no impact whatsoever on the durability, longevity, comfort and practical looks of the shoes. Finally 3), these are shoes that last generations and most of these minor things will likely be addressed with its first visit to a good cobbler for its first resole in a couple of years. Thus in the grand scheme of things, these are pretty insignificant things that will render themselves mute points in a not too distant future. In summary, I'm beyond happy with these shoes and for the price point I cannot think of a better option. I'll add that comfort-wise these shoes are way beyond its price point and the actually look better and more refined in person than the do in the website pictures. Oh the the color Cigar is even better looking in person.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got these new ones in Cigar 11EEE After a lot of hit and misses lately with AE shoes, I finally got in another solid pair. The first Leeds I ordered in Oxblood a few months ago were a disaster of QC. These on the other hand were perfect. 5* across the board.

Any servicemen use these with their Class A uniform?

Looking for a more comfortable option to the issued plastic shoes that blow out at the welt every year. Does anyone have any experience using these shoes with their Class A uniform?
    Asked by: Fabian
I have used black Leeds in both calfskin and shell cordovan for years while wearing ASU-A and ASU-B uniforms. They are substantially better than the half dozen other options I’ve tried. I highly recommend them. One pair in particular has been part of my kit for close to a decade, and I’ve only had to send them in for recrafting twice.

Are the Leeds Plain Toe Dress shoe airport security friendly?

    Asked by: Roger
Yes, they are airport security friendly. I believe they do have a steel shank in the sole, but it will not set off any metal detectors. I have had this style for the last 16 years and travel through airport security weekly as a pilot.

    Current Leeds vs. Old Leeds

I bought a pair of black leather (non-cordovan) Leeds about 6 years ago. They are the "old style", the one before Leeds 2.0. Can you please tell me whether the current Leeds model -- the one that's for sale now -- would be the same or different than my old Leeds? Thank you!
    Asked by: Christopher
The Leeds currently offered is the original version of the Leeds. Feel free to contact us again if you have additional questions!
