Strandmok Cap-Toe Oxford with Dainite Rubber Sole is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 142.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The finest shoes in the world... I personally own 10 pair of Allen Edmunds boots and shoes, and it is my belief that AE shoes are the finest hand-made shoes still manufactured in the world today. I have worn multiple examples of hand-made shoes over my lifetime, but once I discovered AE style, comfort, quality, fit and durability I discovered that Allen Edmunds was the only shoemaker for me. The Strandmok cap-toe oxford with dainite rubber sole was an anniversary gift for my Partner in celebration of our 35th anniversary. I have a pair of the same Strandmok oxford in black with blue laces and blue dainite soles, which I have enjoyed wearing with quite a wide variety of my wardrobe. Likewise my Partner has found the color and style of the aforementioned new Strondmoks in brown that he has found little with which he cannot wear them with style and suitability. One final comment must be made, that rarely have I received more notice or compliments on my clothes or foot ware, directly from my peers and contemporaries since I began to wear AE shoes and boots. Allen Edmunds' shoes, manufacturing, comfort, quality and style are not equalled anywhere in the world today. And I am so pleased to have access to such a high-quality and indispensable product for my wardrobe. Gregory

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish and comfortable This is my 8th pair of Allen Edmonds but it is my first pair with the dainite rubber sole, which I bought specifically for the winter months. I am very happy with the look and the feel of them. Also, they only took 2-3 wears to break in and the initial stiffness was gone. I purchased the brown color so that I could wear them casually with jeans and khakis and even my brown corduroy trousers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not consistent with other 65 Last I have worn AE shoes for over 25 years and really looked forward to this shoe, but after ordering two different times and going down a size, the length of the shoe was too long. I have five pairs of shoes with the 65 last and these are not consistent with those in size, way too long. I called customer service and the agent was not helpful, ending up sending the shoes back twice. Good looking shoe, wish the fit was consistent with other AE 65 Lasts.

Sizing for this shoe for long narrow feet

I have a size 13.5 AAA flat foot. When available I typically go with size 14 AAA dress shoes to get the necessary length since there is not a 13.5 option, I'm reading that this shoe runs long and narrow. Any advice as to what size I should be ordering for this model?

    Replacement Laces

Can you please tell me what the replacement laces are for this shoe? I see a similar color online but they are waxed and the ones that came with the shoe are not waxed.

30" round laces will work fine.

Is there a brown polish that will stick to this leather?

I have tried AE Premium Shoe Polish, Kiwi shoe cream, Kiwi shoe polish and I can't find anything that will stick to this shoe or cover scuff marks. Is there any way to reapply the dark brown color to these shoes?
    Asked by: Chris_B
I know the problem you are having. The toe cap is actually a lighter natural color which they then they "spray paint" that darker brown. The idea is that over the years, polishing that paint off will give it a reverse burnished look - lighter and shiny on the toe cap. If you scuff them, shoe polish won't fix the issue. You almost have to repeatedly buff the paint off to speed up that natural ageing and bring out the natural color underneath. As you do that the hard edges of the scuff will blend away Not sure if they still have the pics that the customers send but if you can find them in the reviews you will see what i'm talking about. It sucks when you get a scuff on these and it takes a while to buff away but you'll get used to it. Maybe try buffing it every day with something slightly rough? toothbrush and rags? Hope this helps.

How stiff are the soles on the Strandmok Cap-toe Oxford with Dainite Rubber Sole? More or less compared to thick leather?

My feet require stiff shoes and can only purchase if these soles are stiff.

What belt would you recommend with the brown strandmok?

    Asked by: Anonymous
I wear my Yukon belt with my brown Strandmoks and, although the color and texture isn't perfect, it works pretty well. I don't dress these shoes up very often (wear with jeans, chinos, etc.) so I can get away with this combination. If I wanted to get a belt that could be dressed up (no contrasting stitching) or down I would consider the Glass Avenue Belt. Good luck!

    How to polish scuff marks

I have the Brown Strandmok and was wondering how to polish scuff marks. Specifically, I have a few streaks on the toe that are a couple inches long that I would like to clean up.

Will cleaning these shoes cause the finish to wear?

A few answers indicate that these shoes have a brown finish designed to gradually wear off. Will using saddle soap, or something like Saphir Renovateur, cause premature wear? Would it be better to just wipe them down and then apply a conditioner? Thanks, and they're great shoes so far.
    Asked by: Anonymous
Its possible, however typically we do not recommend using Saddle Soap it's not necessary to use on brand new footwear. Saddle Soap is best for product buildup or shoes that are very dusty or dirty. You can simply use a lightly damp cloth with water or leather lotion to clean the surface of the leather. What kind of leather is brown strandmok?

Is it chromexel? like the black version?
    Asked by: Anonymous
The leather used on the brown Strandmok is not Chromexcel leather. The base color of the leather is tanned/dyed in a "Gold" tone and then a Dark Brown finish is applied to the top side of the material. When the shoe is assembled, we take it to our burnishing wheel and brush off the top finish to reveal the gold base, which gives us a fantastic ‘distressed/vintage’ aesthetic. This will continue to develop a distressed look overtime with normal wear. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

    Can I distress these more?

I ordered Strandmoks and mine are on the darker side. I’d like for more of the lighter color to shine through. What can I use to rub off some of the darker color and let the light shine through.
    Asked by: MCooley
The finish of the brown Strandmok is intended to brush off on its own overtime with normal wear and reveal the golden tones underneath. You may try to accelerate the distressing but we recommend being very careful not to damage the leather. Start with soft cloths or brushes to see if you get your desired results and built up from there. Extra fine sandpaper or sponges are more abrasive and may damage the leather. If you decide to try to distress this style, we suggest to do so on an inconspicuous area of the shoe, such as the back or side of the heel and evaluate the results. Keep in mind, doing this would deem the shoe non-returnable. Alternately, if the shoes are still unworn, you may also ask for an exchange to see if you like another pair better. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
