    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

Higgins Mill Boot with Chromexcel Leather is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 113.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shoe but be careful with sizing I have two other pairs of AE shoes, plain derbies from the late 1990s and MacNeil wingtips from 2017, both of which fit perfectly in a 14. I ordered the Higgins boot in a 14, and I'm pleased with the look, versatility, and quality. However, my pair is quite large, to the point that I need to wear doubled-up thick socks to avoid blisters. The result is that I can only really wear them comfortably in cold weather. I encourage you to try out different sizes before pulling the trigger. I got mine on sale in a non-return situation, so I'm stuck. It could be worse, but I bet I'd wear these every day if they fit as well as my other AEs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These will be your go-to boots Boots are awesome. I bought the same fit I have with my other AE's and they are perfect. Break-in was very quick and I love the look. Goes great with chinos and jeans. I used to wear sneakers a lot with my chinos and jeans but now find myself reaching to my Higgins.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All Around Boot Had a few notice the boots for what they are but mostly a stealthy option to quality footwear. Very comfortable for standing and walking all day. Quality materials and construction. This is my 3rd pair of AE footwear and will be adding to the collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great no-frills boot for daily wear Bought these on a New Year’s sale and have been wearing them fairly regularly for about a month now. I think I’m safe in giving these the highest mark. AE has managed to make a sturdy, high-quality product that isn’t stiff as a board out of the box. The Dainite sole has its advantages in the slick Pacific NW climate, and the leather promises to remain supple with the proper care. These are refined enough to wear to a casual workplace (especially tech/startup type environments) or a nice-ish dinner, yet rugged enough to dress down for drinks at the pub with the boys. Also, I can’t argue with domestic production - the leather is also sourced stateside. All in all, they are (like most AE products) on the pricey side, but a huge bang for the buck when lesser-quality designer stuff will easily cost double. Take a serious look at these if you’re in the market for a versatile, 2-3 season smart-casual boot.

    Pre-Creased shoes

Hello, I purchased a pair of Higgins from an in store retailer. The shoes appear to already have creasing in the Vamp area. The toe area does not look as flat and smooth as it does in the picture on your website. There are a bunch of lines and it looks like the branch of a tree. Is this a normal occurrence in this type of leather, and something that happens with usage? I have never purchased AE shoes so I want to be sure they are not defective with loose grain or inferior quality.

Which speed polish color should I buy?

I know the boot description says brown but when I received these they appear to have reddish tint to them. Should I buy "Chili" instead of brown?

What is the recommended sizing compared to sneakers? Are they true to size or should I order 1/2-full size down?

    Asked by: Chris
The boots run true to size, as do the sneakers. Not sure if i will do business with this company anymore, do to a problem with replacing a pair of deffective shoelaces. Too petty for me.

    What kind of insole? Poron?

    Asked by: Carlos
Its a leather insole. And leather lined. It is extremely comfortable and soft. Feels luxurious for a boot. Get them while they are on sale. The only thing you need to take care of em is a big brush and AE leather lotion. DO NOT USE A WAX BASED POLISH. Saphir greasy leather cream in neutral works fine too. Source: hours and hours of research and experience with these shoes.

Can these shoes be worn in the rain and snow?

I know that the sole will be fine since it is waterproof but is the leather upper also waterproof/resistant. If so how do you recommend maintaining that water resistance?
    Asked by: Anonymous
I wouldn’t recommend getting them too wet. I would say the care of the leather should be similar to your leather dress shoes.

Can these boots be worn in inclement weather?

Example rain and snow? What would be the appropriate method for maintenance if they were worn for such purpose?
    Asked by: LuxLemon
Chromexcel leather can handle wet conditions as it's heavily infused with oils that naturally repel water. It also features an all-weather Dainite rubber sole. Should you get caught in inclement weather conditions, we recommend wiping any water or salt off the leather with a soft cloth, letting them dry away from heat, and insert shoe trees. Apply Leather Lotion as needed. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
