Cornwallis Dress Oxford with Dainite Rubber Sole is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from The toes on the shoes do not match My son and I have ordered several pairs of shoes from your company through the years. This shoe was ordered earlier and had to be returned because of poor workmanship. The replacement pair arrived today in Tomball Tex. and the coloring or buffing on the toes do not match. These is no exchange or return form enclosed. These have to be returned so would you please send him a return form and credit my account. $460.00 for a pair of shoes that the toes do not match is absurd. Please advise when you will accommodate my request. Did you by any chance send seconds?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Allen Edmonds are the best quality for money. I am very happy with my purchase of Cornwallis Dress Oxfords. Perfect fit, very elegant and equally as comfortable. The best shoes around.I fully recommend AE's.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Clearly bad quality that should not have been shipped The leather around the eyelets is wrinkled and dry. These should never have passed a visual inspection or been delivered to a customer. Terrible looking. I came from J&M because their quality let me down, and now I see the same issues with AE. Not sure where to shop next but it won't be online.

Can I get a size/width combination that is not orderable online

I would normally wear a 6 1/2 D in this shoe. However, with my new orthotics, I need a larger and wider shoe. A 7E is the right size, but not wide enough. The 7 1/2 E is the correct width, but the size is too large - my foot slips around too much. Ideally, I would try a size 7 2E and a size 7 3E, but neither size is available in the Cornwallis. Can I special order one or both of these sizes? If so, are they returnable if I guess wrong on the width? Thank you!

Heel Height: What is the height of the dainite rubber sole vs. leather sole for the Cornwallis?

    Asked by: Tony
I have both. From floor to the top of the heel of the shoe there is about half a cm difference where the danit is higher. Mostly due to the heel guard that’s part of that sole.

    Traditional Cork Insole... Or Otherwise??

Does this shoe have (or offer) the traditional AE cork insole... or does it instead offer one of these newfangled synthetic anomalies??
    Asked by: goodbot
The Cornwallis features our traditional footbed and the cork layer is applied under the insole. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

What is the difference between the leather and rubber soles?

Comfort, recrafting, break in period, etc?
    Asked by: Jeff
Both options offer comfort, durability, and support. Leather soles are traditionally preferred for office/indoor settings or controlled environments, and are more breathable than rubber soles by helping to dissipate heat. Many prefer the look and feel of a leather sole that enhances our traditional handcrafting techniques. Dainite rubber soles are made with a dense rubber compound that provides more shock absorption, traction, and water resistance. They tend to tolerate longer commutes on concrete sidewalks better than leather. Based on customer feedback as well as our own wear trials, the Dainite will possess some stiffness right out of the box that eases over time with normal wear. Both can be replaced through our Recrafting service as long as the shoe style is eligible for Recrafting (the Carlyle is eligible). Ultimately, the choice between these soles comes down to your personal preference and needs. We suggest visiting your local store to try both and see which one you prefer.

    choice of sole options

Hello, I have several pairs of AE dress shoes. They all have leather soles. My questions is this: Do the rubber sole options tend to last longer? Why do people select rubber over leather? Thanks!, Steve
    Asked by: smconway
Yes. A dainite sole, while being a bit stiffer in the beginning, will almost certainly last longer than a leather sole if the shoe is regularly worn. This is especially true if you live in a rainy part of the world. Downsides include a longer breaking in period and a somewhat thicker sole. If you really like the elegant look of a leather sole, a dainite one might disappoint you.
