McAllister Wingtip Oxford is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic Tan Wingtip A beautiful shoe for all year round that goes with pretty much everything. I have been looking for this type of Balmoral wingtip in tan for a while and was blown away with the design and the comfort of the shoe. The fit was amazing close to my measurement with which is rare in most shoe store enough that I am rarely measured when I shop. Cheers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Comfort To put this in context, I typically wear Bostonian or Bates dress shoes. Bostonians were a good non-craftable shoe and lasted me for years and felt ok. Bates kill you behind the heal so you have to wear moles skins. I decided it was time for me to up my appearance so thought I would try my first luxury shoe with AE. The comfort is excellent from the padding of the cork soles and no break-in period behind the heal. It's a well crafted shoe and looks superb. As for size, I like my toes to go all the way to the end. If that is you, this is not your shoe. I went down a half size for AE and out a width. Still, my toes have about a half inch of room to the end. However, they don't look long and I never find myself tripping. It works. I went to a store to get sized (which the experience was excellent as the owner for very professional and knowledgeable). It was a great experience and I recommend it if it's your first time in AE, which it was for me. The downside is that I had to return my first pair. As with all hand-crafted items, there is bound to be some differences from what you see in the store. By the way, most likely the store won't have your size in stock and they either need to be shipped or even crafted. My first pair had some rough spots, perhaps glue, on the insole. Super easy return back to the store. My only gripe is that AE prides themselves on their quality check and I wonder how something like that got through. The second pair were almost perfect. My complaint is that some of the stitching seemed to be kind of far from the end of the leather which makes it look a little odd, but not odd enough for me to return. They are hand-crafted right? Despite these issues, I'm a fan on of AE. Planning to buy a different model in the near future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and well made shoes. This my 9th pair of AE shoes. First pair in 1987. All pair are in excellent shape still. Out of the box, They almost fit just like I have worn them before. These shoes are beautiful and without flaws. I am thankful for AE. I have big feet. No other shoe manufacturer makes "stylish" shoes in my size. I like that AE shoes retain the beauty and quality over the years. Thank You AE

How do you determine the width?

    Asked by: Joe
I follow the last. McAllister is made on the 65 last. If you have any 65 last shoe you should not have a problem ordering new shoes.

What polish to use for Coffee color?

    Asked by: MDogg
To answer your question the color I recommend is a light brown to start. Personally, I don't understand peoples hang up on having the exact correct color when polishing shoes. I myself take time to change the hue depending on my mood, dress and time of year. When I get new shoes from Allen Edmonds the first thing, I do is wash with saddle soap and apply 2 coats of a mild oil on the entire shoe. You don’t know how long the leather has been sitting around or how dry it is. I then apply 2 coats of a soft polish followed by 2 coats of wax. Doing this provides a depth of color like you would see in the photos. One thing to keep in mind is the more wax that you apply the better the shine however the more likely the finish can crack. I normally wear leather soles, so I normally apply a sole guard oil as well. On my formal dress shoes, I apply a mirror finish on the toe box but on my McAllister’s, I think that looks odd with all the broguing and pinking so I just use a slightly darker shade on the toe boxes and I like the look. If you have never done this yourself take a new pair of shoes apply this process to one shoe and not the other, then compare the shoes together. You will notice a huge difference.

When will the McAllister have the option for the V-Tread sole? I would like to buy the McAllister with the V-tread sole vice the dainite sole.

    Asked by: Anonymous
You can always purchase and upgrade the sole to the v tread. It will just take a bit longer to get it to you. Also, watch around the holidays for sales! I bought two new pair with the upgraded sole just before Christmas and am waiting for them to be made but got them around $250 with all the discounts. The only part that stinks is having to wait 4-8 weeks for them to be made. Don’t forget that when you send back for recrafting you can also do the combination sole at that time.

The description about the soles says this shoe has a 9 iron all leather sole. What does that mean compare to a single oak leather sole?

    Asked by: Anonymous
It's one and the same, the 9 irons refers to the thickness of the single oak leather soles we use. Feel free to contact us again if you have additional questions!

are the soles leather & are they sewn or glued on

    Asked by: Linda
This style features a single oak leather sole and the 360 degree Goodyear welted construction; the sole is stitched to the upper through the welt.
