    Classic Fit

Most people consider a “classic” fit to be a “standard” fit. This fit more closely aligns with the natural shape of your feet.

    Ask & Answer
Park Avenue Cap-toe Oxford with Dainite Rubber Sole is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Major cost cutting shows. 1st's look like seconds quality! Insufficient packaging in terms of size and quality can't recommend this company currently. It took 7 pairs to get a halfway decent pair of shoes, without dry leather, stretch marks, stitching errors, missing stitching or deeply scratched shoes. 1st pair were ordered Cyber Monday and the final pair arrived end of February. The old AE shoes I purchased including the Carlyle, Strand and Fifth Avenue were great. I ordered the Park Avenue 1st Cyber Monday and they came with obvious small scratches and indentations and look like 2nds. They provided an estimate of 2-3 weeks to be crafted which was fine, but then they suddenly had a surplus and shipped early what I assume to be seconds. The new cheap packaging didn't include the shoe bags that kept the shoes from getting scratched further. This packaging looks like they should be $100 shoes. The new boxes break easily and several arrived partially broken and one completely unglued. I have had cheap Timberland dress shoes from two years ago as a burner pair for dirty jobs and they came better packaged with higher quality materials. At $180 I have had shoes come with decent shoe bags. The heels immediately on the Dainite are off from my previous 5th avenues and not correct. They upped the prices and gutted the quality of AE. AE I used to refer to everyone I knew looking to start out, now I tell people to look elsewhere unless they can convince me otherwise. Get ready to be disappointed with the new cost-cutting AE. If they wanted to charge for the shoe bags so be it, but don't be deceptive and state they are free with an asterisk (that they must be in cart already). Also, the new shoe bag is one large thin one instead of the existing two individual shoe bags that were plush. I would pay the extra $10 for the old proper shoe bags if you want to lower the pricing and give people the option properly notated at checkout. I have 0 tolerance for deceptive practices. To add insult to injury the shoe bags if purchased are shipped from a different warehouse so your shoes are not protected in transit. Last year the beginning of the end was when they kept shipping out defective Poplar belts, which they resell and do not make which is fine if they were decent. It took 5 returns to get one that didn't have an obvious defect including a scratched buckle, poorly molded buckle with a sharp unfinished edge, missing dye, dye on the buckle. 0 quality control.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slightly unimpressed This is my first AE purchase. Was slightly disappointed. The logo on the insole was crooked by about 30 degrees. Not a huge deal since no one really sees it but it seems like such a simple thing to get right. Toe cap was also crooked. Told AE about it and they said this is normal because the shoes are handmade. Shoes also shipped from Nashville. Guess I was hoping they would ship from Port Washington since that’s all they talk about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dainite A cap-toe is about as much design I personally like on a shoe, so the Park Ave is fantastic for my tastes. I walk about 3-5 miles a day between my two offices, excluding anything before or after work. The Dainite sole is fantastic and truly reduces fatigue!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Quality Shoe After searching for a quality pair of oxfords, I settled for the AE brand, Park Ave shoe with dainite sole, size 9.5 EEE, black, purchased and ordered from an AE store in NYC. I work in NYC and the sole choice was an important option for me. Another decision choice for me was that AE are made in America. I bought them on a holiday sale and as a first time customer which added a 15% discount. This is the first time I have spent this much money on a pair of shoes and I believe I have made a good, solid investment in this shoe. I have owned Florsheim shoes for years and wanted to up my shoe game! The overall cost I paid was average compared with other, higher end online Italian made shoe companies (Paul Evans and Beckett Simonon). First time out of the box, I wore them for 6 1/2 hours at an event. Overall, I believe AE could improve the comfortability of the shoe with a better, more comfortable insert. It is a comfortable, smooth upper leather, no break in period, but the shoe felt a little hard to stand in. No dustbag or shoe horn was included in the box. The quality and craftsmanship is well built and the AE reputation holds strong. I have looked at Italian shoe brands such as Paul Evans and Beckett Simonon. Neither of those companies offer a EEE shoe or dainite sole (D width is too tight even with an upsize) but my advise to PE would be to keep a close eye on these companies as their shoes are amazing!

    Poron layer?

Usually when AE includes a danite outsole on a particular style, the inside includes a layer of poron glued on top of the original lining. The website photos don't show this - are they correct as-is?
    Asked by: Anonymous
This style features a traditional foot-bed with a cork layer, and does not have a PORON® insole. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

    Material mistake in the heel?

Dear all, two weeks ago, I bought a pair of these shoes in one of your shops in Denver. Back home in Germany I had to realise that the soles make a loud, unpleasant squeetching (?) noise when I walk (both shoes). So loud that I cannot use them in the office. My local AE dealer believes, without being sure, that this is a material mistake. I contacted your agent, Mr Walter, in Germany, but he does not see the issue within his responsibility. After 20 years of loyalty to AE shoes, this is the first time I experience something like this. I am somewhat surprised and disappointed. What do you recommend I do? Thanks, Albrecht Grell
