    Care Instructions

    STEP 1: Thoroughly remove dirt, scuffs and stains using our Suede and Nubuck Cleaning System, following the instructions on the box.

    STEP 2: Once the material has dried, spray our Water Protector over the surface of the shoes. Apply regularly between cleanings.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from A negative turned into a positive I purchased a pair of Super Sport Drivers on- line and was terribly disappointed. The size/width were correct but the design of the shoe was very uncomfortable. A strap across the arch made them unbearably tight. I had no choice but to return them. Much to my delight and surprise, AE contacted me, said they agreed with my description and actually redesigned the shoe. For my troubles, they sent me a new, redesigned pair, at no cost to me. This pair fits perfectly and I am telling everyone I know about my great experience with AE. I love my new shoes. You have a customer for life. Thank you!

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from They fixed it!! I ordered these about six months ago and the fit was completely off from what I’m used to for the driver shoe. They were returned and I was quite disappointed. However Allen Edmonds sent me a replacement shoe and indicated they had fixed the fit. I can attest that the new shoe is just what I expected and is very comfortable and I’m extremely happy with them.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best customer service Back in March of 2019 I purchased a pair of Super Sport Drivers. I wear a 12.5 3E in most AE shoes. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. These shoes were so narrow and tight I could barely get my feet in them. I thought that they were new leather and would stretch out, I was wrong. After 2 hours of wearing them I had blisters on 4 of my toes. Needless to say I didn’t leave a good review. To my surprise AE read my review. They contacted me 3 weeks ago to apologize for my disappointment and told me that they completely redesigned the Super Sport and wanted to send me a new pair of the redesigned shoe. I was blown away. I never expected this. I was just leaving a review to help other AE customers. My new shoes arrived a couple days a go and I couldn’t wait to wear them. I wore them this past weekend and they have fully lived up to Allen Edmonds quality and comfort. Some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Thank you Allen Edmonds for living up to your name and quality. You have a customer for life!

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Something a little bit different My apologies in advance, as this review might get somewhat convoluted but please bare with me. My goal is to provide other customers with some much needed information so that they may make an informed purchase given the overall lack of detail available. Whether or not I care to admit to this, I currently own 92 pairs of shoes from AE alone, and the Super Sport makes # 93. I would say that I sort of know the various lasts and fits of most of the legacy lasts and shoes like the back of my hand. So when I saw that this was produced on the "722-last," with no further description, and with the retail stores basically a waste of time in that my size (7D, 7.5D, 8B) isn't stocked, I wasn't too happy. I'm sort of a "sucker" for a driver shoe in the warm weather / summer season. I currently own 2 Kirkwoods, 4 Maritimes, a Northland, an Ely and a Sea Island, but on the other hand I also have a Grand Cayman, Ventura Highway and Interstate 80. AE's boat shoes are very popular options (and if I was hard-pressed I would probably say better than the drivers) but sometimes I feel like the slimmer, maybe "sleeker" look of the drivers can be dressed up a little more. I don't really know, sometimes I just like them for a change of pace. Enough rambling from me, I'm definitely not the brightest bulb in the bunch when it comes to fashion. I'm going to walk through those other driver shoes before I get to the Super Sport. For reference, I actually branock out at close to 7.5-8 in length, B-C width. I typically can get away with a D width due to very high instep on my right foot, and moderate instep on my left. Usually, the elongation present on AE's welted lasts allows for a lot of "wiggle room" or trade space in order to get the right fit, whereas the handsewn lasts typically are more "binary," meaning there is an optimal size, and it either will work, or it won't. One and done. The Grand Cayman (and the modern day Boulders) are built on the 145 last. This is unusual as it fits basically like a welt. If you can picture in your mind something narrower and less roomy than the 234, but at the same time more voluminous than the 97, you sort of get the basic idea. A 7D works for me on this last. The Ventura Highway and Interstate 80 are both built on the 2592 last. While the 114 last is definitely not very forgiving for a high instep, the 2592 is unusual in that it adds a touch of excess length, shifts the position of where the vamps hit the tops of your feet, and basically "fixes" the fit. The shoes may still run a little snug due to the various degrees of padding and/or poron included, but overall a 7D still works for me here. In the not too distant past, AE used to produce drivers on the 800 last. The 800 is about as short as the 114, but the vamps are also more raised and more tolerable for a high instep. I like this last a lot; as an example, the Kenwood might not be as pretty as a Maxfield, but boy does it work better for me. At some point, AE decided to release more and more on the 555. The 555 starts out with the 114's length, then actually increases the overall toebox room while lowering the vamp. This was clearly the worst handsewn last I had ever tried for high instep issues. Style after style, it was consistently the lowest and most painful vamp of anything. Two quick examples here - I purchased the Sea Island and Ely in a 7.5D. I needed every drop of that size, and I had to wear the shoes many times in order to stretch them out to where they became tolerable. The Ely is still very tight to this day. Sidebar - the Maritime/Kirkwood use loosely lasted CXL and don't fit like the usual 555-lasted styles, so don't judge the last based on those. So the 555 was the worst candidate for a high instep...until now, lol. Judging the 722 by the fit of the Super Sport with the technogel insert inside, the 722 is clearly the all-time worst fitting last for a high instep, even rivaling the 79 welted last. With my right foot, the vamp pain out of the box was bordering on excruciating. I think this will get better over time, but it's worse than the Ely which was pretty bad already. The only saving grace was that the 722 seems to run about 1/4 size longer than the 555, which provides a drop of relief. So long story short, the 722 is like a slightly elongated 555, with maybe a worse vamp. I got the 7.5D and need every bit of it. So what's good. Well, driver shoes are typically thin, flimsy, insubstantial, and unsupportive. The Super Sport wears like cement. They are heavy, sturdy and solid. The technogel is a great addition. The rubber attached to the outsole also feels a lot better than the old Dario used on the older platforms. What's not so good. The price seems unjustifiably high, like you're basically buying a pair of shoes plus a pair of inserts, and the price factors in both items. The inserts take up a ton of volume, much more than anything else I've ever tried, from poron in the danite pairs to the road warrior blue inserts...maybe even the legacy brown inserts used in the Voyagers. Taking out the inserts leaves the insides of the shoes looking ugly and unfinished, with glue stains, a sloppily added heel pad and basically a mess. It's clear AE intended on the insert being included. I would not recommend buying these shoes with the intention of removing the insoles; you're basically wasting your money at that point, as there are less expensive drivers out there that are definitely just as good (minus the gel inserts). Beyond this, the areas in which the rubber is attached to the outsole is strange, in patches, rather than a uniform distribution. The very tip of the bottom front below the toebox, and the area right below the heel are lacking the rubber, so standing and walking feels a little off, almost unstable. The Dario sort of had this, and this wasn't fixed here. I will admit, I didn't have my hopes up on this one, and I'm left with somewhat of a mixed view. For a driver, these are way more hefty and supportive, and I'll take whatever elongation I can get. But on the other hand, I can't help but feeling i could have picked up any old driver in an overly large size and added a gel insert from a drugstore and gotten the same result. I guess time and wear will tell. Full disclosure; if AE's retail stores weren't such a waste in terms of lack of any kind of variety in inventory (I can basically find a Park in my size, that's about it) and I could have tried this rather than blind-buy order it, I probably would have passed.

    722 last

    I appreciate your description of the 722 last but I had a different question. My size is pretty much non-existent in stores without ordering and trial-and-error. The 145 last works with zero issues. The 800 is pretty good too, and the 2592 isn't bad. The 555 is very much a hit-or-miss type of deal; sometimes it's way too tight and I have to size up while other times it's just barely there (but without a drop of room to spare). Other times it's even been somewhat large. What would you say is most similar to the 722 - the 145, 800, 2592 or 555?

    Could not find the 722 Last on your "All About Lasts" page. Could you give a description on the fit of this Last?
