    Relaxed Fit

The relaxed fit has added space in the toe box. This extra room allows for thicker socks and foot expansion that occurs at the end of the day or during a long flight.

    Ask & Answer
Bond Street Cap-toe Oxford is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective shoes and poor customer service I bought factory seconds with insoles that began peeling off within one use. I have purchased many shoes from AE (both first and factory seconds), without any problems. Until now. My issue is that AE fixed the shoe just enough to hide the issue and make the shoes look usable, sold them and washed their hands of it rather than recrafting a simple defect. Now I’m stuck with shoes that have insoles that are peeling off

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well....weird... I will be the first to admit - when I saw this I was immediately dismissive. In person, it almost looks like a "clone" or a knock-off of a Park Ave. It feels extremely lightweight and the soft, matte-finished corrected grain leather has a rubbery flexible feel to it. They looked and felt like a run-of-the-mill department store shoe. The fit and feel sort of excelled where the looks fell short. In my 65-last size, the length and width felt pretty much exactly like a Park would fit. There are two factors at play on this one; notably all the padding, and the flexibility of the leather. I have high arches and thus balmorals always provide a good challenge. With the Park, I get quite a v-gap out of the box. The vamp causes a lot of pain initially that gradually breaks in over a period of time, after which the v-gap closes a lot but not 100%. With the Bond Street, there is so much padding (think more than the thick poron used in some of the 2.0 styles, but less than, say, an old school Voyager brown insert) that your foot is pushed even closer into the vamp, leading you to believe you'd be in some serious trouble if you have high arches. But...and this is important...the material is so soft that the vamp has enough give that it sort of doesn't matter as much. So it's like a wash - less room, but more flex at the vamp. For this reason I would absolutely go with your 65-size. It is possible that if you're a person who is both wide and has high arches, who has to drop way down in length and way up in width to wear a Park, you *may* not have to do that here (or maybe not as much). Tough to say without trying them first. Final note on fit - I found the heelcup to run narrower than the Park; not WAY narrower, but narrower. I will also note that despite the soft, lightweight feel, they didn't feel completely non-supportive. Not the equivalent of a Park's single oak / single butyl, but better than, say, a Nomad. So what's the problem. Well, my gripe with this is why get it. Why this, at either equal or close to the price of the Park, when you can get...the Park. The Park is rock solid, premium calfskin, GY bench welted. The Bond is rubbery corrected grain and I'm convinced it isn't GYW - it might be recraftable, but it isn't equivalent to the Park construction. It might fit comfortably out of the box, but the Park will too after some break-in period. Finally, the last is so similar to the 65-last...I mean, at least the Exchange Place was built on a different last. There is just no real reason to get a clone of the Park when you can get the real thing. Hope this helps. This isn't a bad product; it just seems unnecessary and overpriced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Consistent Quality I received my new Bond Street shoes and was not surprised in the craftsmanship, quality and fit. I have worn AE shoes for 30 years and have found no better quality or craftsmanship regardless of price. They fit perfectly and look fantastic. They are replacing a pair 20 years old. A true value.

    Insole materials

Is there any leather in the Shock Form insole. I have seen several layers of padding but no mention of any leather. Is it strong enough to hold the shoe together long term?
    Asked by: Shoenut
If you're referring to the lining that is in direct contact with your foot, yes the shoes have a full leather sock liner. Feel free to contact us again if you have additional questions!

Will this be available in other widths? One of the reasons many of us like AE shoes is the option to fit the width precisely.

Do these run wide or narrow compared with the 65 last? If wide then a D might work for me (usually a 14E). If narrow then perhaps the EEE wont be far too wide. Too bad AE is limiting the options AND providing inadequate information to customers.

The Bond Street has a classic fit similar to the Park Avenue, with a slightly chiseled shape. We recommend visiting an Allen Edmonds retail store for a professional fitting on this particular style to see what size and width combination will work best for you. Please know we appreciate your feedback and it will be forwarded to the proper teams for consideration on future offerings. Feel free to contact us again if you have other questions!

Allen Edmonds - so this is on a 64 last instead of a 65 last? Can you explain the difference and also list it in the description??

    Asked by: R
You can expect a similar fit to the 65 last, with a slightly tapered toe and chiseled look, with room for a higher instep, Feel free to contact us again if you have additional questions!

    Type of leather

Up close the leather used on this shoe seemed very uniform in color and somewhat shiny yet matte-finished. QUITE different than that used on the Park Ave. Is this corrected grain / polished cobbler or something else?
    Asked by: Anonymous
As described on the details this is a polished calfskin leather upper. Thank you for your question!

Which last is this shoe made on?

    Asked by: CED
This shoe is built on the new 64 last. Up close it resembled the 65 last but with possibly some extra width and/or room in the toebox (?) Difficult to say, hopefully we'll get a real description soon.
