Fifth Avenue Cap-toe Oxford with Dainite Rubber Sole is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 251.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thrilled with second pair of AE's This is my second pair of AE's My first is the McAllister in Chili with Dainite soles. I was thrilled with those so I set my sights on a second pair and fell in love with the Fifth Ave in Walnut. I could not be happier with these shoes. The color of my shoes was spot on with what I saw on-line. The leather is a very high quality and so far has hardly creased at all. I use shoe trees regularly. When I first received the shoes, I brushed them off, put on a coat of Kiwi shoe conditioner for water protection. This seemed to darken them up just a bit, which I expected and appreciated. I then used the AE wax in Walnut and put on a few coats. I finished it off with some Venetian Leather Balm. They looked beautiful! The first day I wore them, it was like a completely broken in pair of shoes. I never had any hot spots or discomfort. I wear them about two to three times a week and receive compliments regularly. Rotating them with my McAlistar's helps out a lot. These shoes are going to last a long time. I wish I could wear them more often. I am not sure what my next pair of AE's will be. But I look forward to them as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bob Easton Love this new Oxblood Fifth Avenue's. They go great with navy/blue suits or dark jeans.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Torture devices I went to the store to get fitted for mine to ensure a perfect fit. They felt a little tight in areas, but I have worn in amish work boots before. I expected some time for good leather to break in. That was over 3 months ago. Every step is pain. I blew my shoe budget on these and I regret it every day. I keep hoping the calousses will help protect me from the daily pain of walking in these shoes, but no matter how thick the calousses get these shoes find a way to bite my feet even worse. I hate them with all my being. If i had it to do over again I would not accept $500 as payment to wear wear these shoes to work every day, let alone pay for this misery.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good choice when yet another black or brown won't suffice Credit to Allen Edmonds for working with me on size as it took awhile to find non-black or brown, non-leather-soled shoes. Would be rated higher if not for the following: I have Strands and Standmoks, both in 13E, both on 65 last. Strands are leather-soled; Strandmoks, Dainite. Both fit fine - I even had them checked out in both Houston-area stores during a recent business trip. However, re the Fifth Avenues (Dainites) I just purchased (also on a 65 last)...I tried every conceivable combination and nothing fit. Finally settled on 12.5E, but they hurt the feet badly - to the point I'd return 'em if I had not exhausted other options. I don't think my feet have changed dramatically; has AE? All my AE purchases have taken place in last five years and haven't had any issues really...

Is the perfing on the surface or does it go all the way through, i.e., does it let in water when it rains?

If Dainite soles come standard, can one ask for the red sole at standard price? Thank you.
    Asked by: wing26collar
The perfing is on the surface of the cap toe component and the shoes are lined. Keep in mind however that leather is a naturally porous material and susceptible to water damage if exposed to r rain or snow. We recommend wearing SWIMS overshoes if you expect inclement weather conditions. The Red Dainite Sole is a custom sole option that can be added for an additional custom fee. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

    Equivalent size to UK shoes

I currently wear an English brand oxford shoe in a size UK 9 'wide'. It fits comfortably with perhaps a little more width than needed. What would be the right Fifth Avenue size and width to go with? I'm based in Aus so not really able to try on in person.

    Oxblood Matching to Pants

Is Oxblood considered a burgundy color. Before I order the Oxblood color shoe I wanted to know what color suit pants, casual pants, and jeans would match with Oxblood. Thanks, Grant
    Asked by: Grant
Oxblood is a burgundy color that is very versatile. It goes with most color pants, but it goes particularly well with cool tones such as navy or grays. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Right size for the Fifth Avenue

I own two pairs of McAllister size 12.5 E. My strandmoke cap-toe is 13 D. They both feel great. What size should be my right fit for the 5t h Avenue Dainite sole?
    Asked by: Carlos S
The fit depends greatly on the shoe design and you try them on at a store, I would recommend you consider the 13E.

How does the Fifth Avenue compare in fit with the Delray? my 9.5 delrays little snug in toe

    Asked by: Anonymous
The Delray is constructed on the 108 last which has an elongated forepart with a tapered and flatter toe. The Fifth Avenue is constructed on the 65 last which is also known to be long and narrow. They are similar in fit. It is vitally important to visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner for a professional fitting to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. However, keep in mind that products purchased on AllenEdmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip.  Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.
